War protesters allowed to spray paint the U.S. Capitol

Capitol Chief of Police tell officers not to arrest anyone

During last Saturday's Washington rally protesting the war in Iraq, hundreds of anti-war protesters were allowed to desecrate government property by spray painting the Capitol with anarchist symbols. I did not see or hear any report of this in any of the mainline media outlets!

Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse ordered his officers to fall back and allow the protesters to exercise what he called "their First Amendment rights" to spray paint the Capitol steps with graffiti. Defending his actions, Morse said, "The graffiti was easily removed by the staff. It is our duty and responsibility to protect the Capitol complex, while allowing the public to exercise their freedom of speech." He even ordered his officers not to arrest anyone!

The war protesters were given access and leniency to deface government property. According to Family Research Council, public employees had to come in on their day off, at taxpayers' expense, to clean up the mess the protesters left behind.

ALLARD REQUESTS MEETING WITH CAPITOL POLICE CHIEF MORSE OVER PROTESTER VANDALISM OF U.S. CAPITOL

Wants to Know Why Capitol Police Stood By and Watched Protesters Deface the Capitol

U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), ranking member of the Legislative Branch subcommittee to the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, today sent a letter to U.S. Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse requesting a meeting to find out whether Capitol Police were given specific guidance about interfering with anti-war protesters who used spray paint on part of the west front steps of the U.S. Capitol building in front of the Capitol Police.

Here is an excert from an article from The Hill, on it:

Morse responded to these claims in an e-mail Sunday afternoon explaining that the protesters were seeking confrontation with the police.

"While there were minor instances of spray painting of pavement by a splinter group of Anarchists who were seeking a confrontation with the police, their attempts to breach into secure areas and rush the doors of the Capitol were thwarted," Morse said. "The graffiti was easily removed by the dedicated [Architect of the Capitol] staff, some of whom responded on their day off to quickly clean the area."

He added, "It is the USCP's duty and responsibility to protect the Capitol complex, staff and public while allowing the public to exercise their First Amendment rights

Grace to you,

What if not having another Kent State meant them actually entering the Capital building?

How about the White House property?

Justifying this despicable action will only bring more like it. :whistling:

Peace,

Dave

I am not saying that I fully agree with it. I am saying that it was obviously a very dicey situation, and the Capital Police did what they thought best at the time. They had some radical anarchists who were doing that in an obvious attempt to provoke a violent confrontation.

Grace to you,

By virtue of the fact that these were anarchists. The argument holds no water. They are naturally opposed to Moral order in society. If we can begin to justify their actions. We can also begin to understand the evil nature of the Islamic Jihadists bent on our destruction.

This is a clear case of dereliction of Duty on the part of the Chief and even his Officers felt the same way. :emot-hug:

Peace,

Dave

On balance, now that I have thought about it, I agree with you.

Thank-you for showing the other side to the story, forrest!

Though I am still troubled by this part of the OP:

"I did not see or hear any report of this in any of the mainline media outlets!"

If a group of abortion protesters had done this, I am sure it would have made headline news.

it was a disgraceful act

defacing any property that isnt your own shows poor character

keith olberman on msnbc blasted the act as a disgusting disply

anderson cooper on cnn also blasted them

so it was covered on major news

had it been abortion protesters i imagine several people here would have called them heros and praised the act

The cops should have spray painted the offenders on the spot and asked if they liked it. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
