It's Jesus Christ who gets the Church as Bride. Jesus is the real "male" person of the trinity.

Is he separate from the rest of the Trinity?

Actually it says, "the Spirit and the Bride say, Come."

All parts of the trinity are One, yet distinct.

So then....Only Jesus is male? The other two are gender-neutral.

Jesus is male in the flesh, of course. The Holy Spirit and the Father are Spirit.

Hi floatingaxe and all,

Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as "He", and really, Father is not the same as mother. God the Father generates His children by His Spirit. It is HIS Spirit, not another spirit that is female.

In Christ, there is no male or female. We are liberated from the bondage of gender through spiritual regeneration. We are born again of His Spirit: that makes us something Spiritual, not a new male or a new female....but a child of God.

Maybe I didn't explain it well enough but it all seems clear to me. Gender is not an issue once "regenerated".

Oh Lord now I have really put the cat among the pigeons, lol.

Love! EphesiansGal

:emot-hug: It's all good!

On another day, I would have said, male ofcourse..whats the doubt :emot-hug:

But then, its not as simple as I think it is...And still, I believe that when God deals with us, He comes down to our level, and relates to us just the way we would like think about Him...With such an argument, I think God has made it sufficiently known to us, that He resembles to the male gender!

The scriptures also tells us that God has/displays human emotions like anger, love, revenge etc, so even though God is spirit, He has indeed human attributes...I would love to think of him as my 'Father' in heaven

So did Jesus stop being male in resurrection? Again, you are thinking in terms of physical "body parts." Being male or female has more to do with just "body parts."

Why did God choose to be incarnated in the womb of Mary as a male and not a female? Was it just the toss of the dice?

There is no question that God is male. In Genesis, it tells us that God created Adam in his image, and later created Eve from Adam's rib. We also see God continually refered to as Father.

Ditto!

Thank you, WSB.

I'm going to interject something here for a moment.

In human terms we think of male/female largely in the context of physical makeup. I would suggest that "gender" has less to do with body parts than it does to relationships and the roles within those relationships.

So....If God is not a male how is it that He marries a woman - the Bride of Christ - at the end of the Bible?

You took the words out of my mouth Ovedya. God is beyond physical gender. (by the way that was a missed option in the vote questions)

what is male? what is female? apart of the physical I mean. When we know that we can answer the question "is God male or female".

IN the forum and human discussions anywhere, we refer to God as He out of the need to say SOMETHING. The general agreement is to use the male term for God. I tried using plural as it is written in Hebrew (Elohim) and people didn't understand what I was on about.

It would sound something like "God knows our hearts and THEY have a plan for us. In THIER plan there is room for all people as long as we recognize THEM as our saviour...." - For human beings to talk this way sounds a bit....off.....

Interesting topic, Ovedya. Thanks and blessings

Some recent threads inspired me this morning to pose the question, "Is God male?" Please answer the poll and include a reply to the thread. In your reply begin with how you answered, then explain in as many words as you want why you answered that way, and use Scripture to support of your answer. Then be prepared to giv an answer to others who respond to you.

Have fun!

Jesus was male and is Male. Jesus is God, so, simple answer.

The answer is only simple if you say so, otherwise it is very complex :emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
