the interesting thing about tongues is that I wonder if the person who does it know they may not be saved.

Im sorry but it would be nicer if you could come up with a better argument to what we are discussing. I wrote something I put some time into but I guess it was in vain because your only reply consists of 4 words. So please, if you dont have anything good or helpful to say then please remain silent so others can discuss things like adults. Im not trying to be rude. Im just frustrated with this type of response. Do you control the power of God? Read Acts and youll see that pretty much everyone who had recieved the gifts didnt even know what they were yet they recieved them. When I became a believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour I had no idea what the gifts were and I did not recieve them. hmm. So, in order for us to have a orderly and intelligent conversation please dont make remarks such as this. I'm not insulting your intelligence. I just dont understand why you are so put off by me. My intentions on worthyboards are good. I am here to learn as well as teach if the Lord sees fit. I pray that we all will learn the truth and that we will take that truth and teach it to the world as we have been called to do. Im sorry if I've offended you in any way. All your words came down to three: "I don't believe..." Until you believe that the Holy Spirit can do as He says, then you will not be on any receiving end from Him concerning that particular gift.

There is no need for you to be insulted by my response. I am not put off by you. I spoke the truth in as few words as possible, as I usually do here. Many words tend to drown out the truth sometimes. You will get to know this, I am sure.

There is no offense in me in my answer. It was far more helpful than you may think. I think that maybe you see the truth in my succinct answer and it has hit home.... maybe?

Listen, All you responded to was the fact that I dont believe the Holy Spirit is still distributing the gifts. I believe the Holy Spirit has all the power which the Bible says it has. Ok, I believe! Your taking my words out of context. But forget that! You gave me no answers or any sort of rebuttal to why I don't believe these gifts are still being given out. I don't doubt the power of the Holy Spirit at all. In fact, it helps me daily to stop from sinning. Its always there telling me "hey matthew, you probably shouldnt do that", or "hey matthew, you should help out that person over there". I know he is with me in that sense. I've never had any sort of audible communication but God speaks to us in different ways. And believe me, sometimes more than a couple words are needed to get your point across. You cant explain to someone how we know that christ rose from the dead in just a couple words. You have to go into detail about the Roman guards that were appointed and the rock that secured the entrance and the eyewitness accounts. Understand? You can't just say because he did. Or like you said to me "Then he won't. period." That explains nothing to me. I get nothing from it. Jesus never spoke in a couple words at a time. He spoke in parables which could be a few paragraphs long. I do understand what you meant when you said that sometimes a short answer is best. Short and sweet. But, please reread my first reply and give me some answers if you have any. I'd like to know how someone who claims to have the gifts responds to them. Thank you. Your brother in Christ, matthew

P.S.- I personally believe some of those who claim to speak in tongues today are doing so by a demon or demons. As far as God not being with them your right that only God knows. But those who we can say God is not with are false prophets. For the bible says that if they are a false prophet God is not with them and to be a true prophet of God they must be 100%. One man we could point out today as a false prophet is Benny Hinn. This man is not with God! Beware of him and his teachings!

Well, we can know, and we need to know. We are to discern these things. We have been given all the gifts as equipment for all the tasks He gives us, and for warfare against the enemy. We aren't just sitting ducks here. We are the light and salt in this world. We are the true leaders in this dark place.

As for prophets, there are true prophets and even among those, they can slip up and speak for themselves once in a while. It doesn't mean they are evil charlatans, but rather, it means they are man. We are to judge the prophecy first...then look at the man.

From my remembrance, 30 years ago more people were willing to be moved and used by the Holy than there are today. And that is key; to be willing. I've seen every gift used in the past 37 years, though not very often. Some of it depends on where you live. There needs to be not only willingness, but need and opportunity. In the U.S. we tend to not think we need so much of God's help. And Christians aim more on correctly social relationships than on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.

As for tongues, I'm sure there are a few, a very few people here and there who do not have a real gift of speaking in tongues. But I doubt it's demonic. I've heard demonic tongues once. And it's very dark. It wasn't from Christians but from a group of people deep on drugs and into other dark spiritual stuff. The difference is dramatic.

Today the tendency to easily and quickly label fellow Christians as wicked is troubling. It is also a sign of the weakening of the church and of the coming end times.

Individual churches are dying, but the Church of Jesus Christ is alive and active and moving forward! You need to guard your negative-speak. Instead of lamenting about the problems, be part of the solution.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Be equipped. Put on the whole armour of God and confound the enemy, taking back what He has stolen! Revival, man!

I am not blind to the downward spiral of this world. But I am in touch with my Saviour, who gives me all hope! For it is out of the heart that the mouth speaks! Speak hope, sir!

The Church of Jesus Christ wins! We are on the winning team!

I never said Jesus returns because we are doing a great job! Don't read what isn't there. Jesus will come with us riding with Him in glory! He will come because God's wrath is to be poured out.
