This verse says "IF YOU live according to the sinful nature you will die."

Doesn't this ring a bell to you? Where did God first mention this????

In the Garden!

"In the day you eat of it you shall surely die."

Did they receive a sentence in hell? No....God covered their sin. However, had they not sinned they would never have tasted death at all.

How long did they live? Physical death did not come instantly but they began dying the day they began sinning. I believe that this applies to the verse quoted.

Sin has a price even though it is spiritually covered. It brings death and destruction to our flesh.

You want to disobey God by eating pork? It brings damage to your intestines. You want to stay drunk? It brings death to your liver. You want to lose control and murder someone? There is a price for that also...but even that can be forgiven. Remember David? He committed the sin of adultery and then murder. Did he go to hell for it? No, he repented...but it did bring death to Absalam...and other areas of David's life were destroyed.

1 John 5:16

If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life.  I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death.  There is a sin that leads to death. (NIV)

Romans 6:16-18

Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? (NIV)

James 1:14-16

...For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death.  Do not be deceived my dear brothers.

James 5:19-20

My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, let him know, that he which converted the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and cover a multitude of sins.

Isaiah 40

13 Who has understood the mind of the LORD ,

or instructed him as his counselor?

14 Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him,

and who taught him the right way?

Who was it that taught him knowledge

or showed him the path of understanding?

Justjake,

you hang in there brother with The Truth. OSAS is totally a man made doctrine, and those who believe in it are deceived because they refuse to set aside their preconceived idea which they were taught by men, and do a Genesis to Revelation study on The Salvation process. If they would only open their eyes and look at all the the words they have to add to what Scriptures actualy say in order to stay deceived. Not to mention how they have to be taken out of context of their actual purpose. So keep posting The Truth and pray that God will open their eyes. I have a long list of Scriptures that deal with Salvation if you ever need them post it, and I will put it on the board.

There really is no need for your "superior" tone.

I know every scripture you would post because I was there when I was a youngster in the Lord.

But since you are so smart....

at what point does someone lose their salvation and can they get it back?

I'm waiting....

Man, this OSAS stuff makes me feel like the Lord has a gun to my head or something, if I make a wrong move I'm done for. Yikes!!!

What happened to His yoke is easy and His burden is light? Are those just words to woo us into the fold and then He lays down the law, or what?

It seems like many are not able to walk in the glorious law of liberty or to rejoice under the supreme law of LOVE, but want to bind themselves with more cords and bonds. I like the no strings attached comment earlier.

Meanwhile let Him fill your heart with love exceedingly abundantly and walk in it.

we agree!

If the Lord saved us by grace, will He not be able to hold us by His grace also?

The Concision also thought that believers had to keep the law for salvation but Paul took issue with them and reproved them over it. As far as looking to the law (OT) for salvation, I think you'd do better to study the New Testament.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Christ has died in vain if works can save.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
