Born of water, and born of spirit. the born of water is the physical birth our soul, the born of spirit is christ entering. NEITHER of these have anything to do with Baptism.

IN FACT, this question was ANSWERED by Christ You guys just didn't include the next verse. Christ said what is born of flesh is the flesh AKA born of Water and what is born of Spirit is spirit AKA salvation!!!

You

Brothers this is lengthy but I please ask that you read this with patience.

If you do not know this information then it will (or should) boost up your studies. :o

Baptism by the Holy Spirit was brought forward by Paul.

We all can agree The Greek word "baptizo" means immersion.

1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)

2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe

3) to overwhelm

we have seen this action back since John the Baptist.

It went from "repentance for the remission of sins" to "remission of sins " to "remission of sins in the name of Jesus Christ (in Acts 8)" and now here come Paul in Acts 9. He is personally called by Christ.

I never liked the guilt trip that religious people say "Paul got baptized so should you."

Well yeah because he was a new member of the Body and hasn't reached that spiritually maturity level.

So what did this symbolism of water baptism mean?

Is it public declaration? Is it obedience? Is it remission of sins?

Geez do I love John 3:12 "I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?"

In the heavenly aspect all along the Holy Spirit was at work.

Think of the Church of Christ. This beautiful blueprint of wonderful architecture that is sitting out somewhere that is being built everyday. The Holy Spirit is the bricklayer.

Paul says: Eph 2:"19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

All of these bricks, around this building being built, is the entire world with many many souls. Every time some one is saved the Holy Spirit lifts you up and places you into this building. Like Baptism. Lifts you up then lays you down. You have joined the body.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body

Read Matthew 3 and note how Jesus Himself was baptized. In doing so, He set an example for us to follow. Obedience is the lesson.

Paul did it because he wasn't spiritually mature yet? What does that mean, really? When we first come to Christ we are never spiritually mature. So we follow out of obedience the command to be baptized. I think refusing to follow is a sign of spiritual immaturity.

If Jesus did it, I sure needed to.

...and your point is? As a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, I am very pleased to do those things Jesus did including being baptized in water as He was. Certainly I will follow my Lord and Savior and submit to those things He submitted to following the Scripture found in 1 Peter 2:21 "...leaving us an example that ye should follow His steps". If He left me an example to follow, then it would be rebellious for me to flaunt His example and tell Him that I don't need to do what He did when He was leaving me an example.

"Christ did it so we should do it"...priceless. ...3xROc|<stAr

Again I ask, What's your point?

Yes. We should be doing what He did, always! He was the epitome of submission to God. He was obedient to death. Do not mock Jesus, exrockstar.

Anything Jesus did, we can do..and more, as He put it.

John 14:12...

I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

Question where else in the word does it say or imply that "born of water" is baptizim? To clarify I dont have any opinion on this..(well, I am willing to lay it down if I do). I do desire more clarity tho. Scripture interprets Scripture (we can agree to that), so there has to be either with a picture in the OT, or something more clear in the NT concerning this matter referring to baptisim and this paticular ref.

Not only that ruck, this thread has suggested that the christian baptism that was done after christs resurection is the same as the baptism that christ recieved. This is not true. Christ received a different one.

Seconly christ was not baptised as someone suggested in the same manner as christians are. he again was baptised starting his ministry and before he was crucified and resurected and took on the sins of the world.

Third, his diciples were not baptised in the same manner as they never received the Holy Spirit! Think about it! The holy spirit didn't come until christ was gone.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
