Methamphetamine causes psychosis. Many addicts require psychiatric treatment for life, and most can't afford it. That means they burden social programs funded by our tax dollars.

....So let's make it legal.

did you know that the success rate of a meth addict staying clean is only 6%? i'd be willing to bet that every one of those who fall into the six percent know God. i honestly do not believe it is possible for a meth addict to stay clean for life without Him.

just a little bit of trivia.

I will just say one thing on this meth issue....LadyC is right. It's VERY hard to stay clean....but not impossible. Once that experience is ingrained in the person's psyche, it is VERY HARD to let go. The person grows very attached.

The reason its hard to get off of is because it makes you feel so alert, so alive. AT the same time the chemicals used to enhance the ephedrine eat you from the inside out.

I have prayed and sought God's guidance, and the following verse keeps coming to mind:

Gen. 1:29 "And God said 'See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed...'"

As far as I know, marijuana is classified botanically as an herb.

I was looking for outside perspectives on this, and hadn't seen this topic posted here.

Christians who are pro legalization of marijuana always use this verse. Would you also then take poison hemlock? It is an herb. Your verse is pre-fall from grace. Since the fall, not everything is of benefit for humans.

Well, I wouldn't take hemlock in the doses necessary to kill me, but the plant it's derived from IS USED medically as a sedative. Hemlock is very strong....THC is mild in comparison.

Really, anything taken in quantities outside those designated for safe consumption can kill you---even water!

Oh so true! There was a girl i think it ws a month or two ago died from water poisoning. some radio station had a gimick where they ahd to drink as much water without peeing, and she drank like 2 or 3 gallons in a couple hours. she effectively drowne dherself

it may be a misdemeanor where you are, but it is a felony offense in nevada.

lol thats rare for that to happen. mostly if whoever is going in front of a judge is stupid.

They plea the charge down to a misdemeanor and pay a fine.

Hmmm.....marijuana is illegal, and prostitution is legal? Sounds rather screwed-up to me.

At least you won't get an STD from smoking pot, and IMO, prostitution does more social harm.

prostitution is legal only in certain parts of the state. it's illegal in clark county or in.... what's the county that reno is in? washoe i think? anyway, LEGAL prostitution and brothels are only found in unpopulated areas, most of them are about 15 miles from the nearest gas station.... and most of them are tiny run down mobile homes lit up with red christmas lights year round. probably more info than you wanted to know!

Ok who are they hurting. themselves right. The drug isn't going to cause them to commit crimes thats in their heart anyway. they will commit crimes whether or not their doing drugs anyway.

All i am saying is that their doing the crimes and the drugs now as it is with "govt' controls in place. so whats the difference.

i honestly don't know what to say to you. really. you are totally convinced that someone using those drugs hurts only themselves and will never influence a person to do criminal acts that are contrary to their nature.

you're so wrong.

drug addicts hurt those around them in every way, crime or no crime. the families are destroyed. drug addicts commit crimes they would not otherwise commit because they're chasing that next high. an otherwise honest person will steal or kill to get their next fix.

i'm so sorry you don't understand that the drugs chemically alter a person's brain and personality. the person they are OFF drugs is a totally different person than they are ON drugs. i'm just really sorry that you are so unaware of the effects on others. but i REALLY hope you never have to find out first hand.

I would say that WISE people, though, do not do drugs.

It recently came out that Carl Sagan was a big reefer fan, although we could have taken a clue from the long-time involvement of his wife and many of his friends in the legalization movement.

I think Sagan would fall under the category of "intelligent, but not wise."

Well, that's no big surprise....but I wasn't aware that he was involved in legalizing it. I'm a fairly strong admirer of his, and I had no idea!!!

TRUE....but along with that feeling of "being alive" in one day, comes the stench of what feels like absolute DEATH the next...of course, the user doesn't remember the come-down when it's time for the next high...he just remembers the exhiliaration of that first hit; and as everyone knows, a person RARELY experiences that first-time exhuberance again!!

For some people, the whole process involved in smoking it becomes a real psychological attachment, so that when the person is even AROUND it, it's hard to say no.

Ya, I heard about that. That was TRULY a heinous and unnecessary tragedy. It wouldn't occur to the average joe that over-hydrating can be deadly!!!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
