Luckily I am retired. Those who work in factories or any type of job (data entry etc) that does not require specialized training have my sympathy.

If the administration gets it's way and all these new people are given "amnesty" they will Legally be able to take jobs from Americans...even the ones Americans are willing to do.

Employers have to love this. They can get rid of their higher paid American workers and hire these newbies for less...yeeehaw.

They are already doing this in my line of work.

I have dual citizenship, Canadian/American. I know a lot of Canadians living and working down here legally, some have applied for and are in the tedious, expensive process obtaining a Green (Pink) Card. One thing I learned about Americans is that they are compassionate people, full of common sense. I don't think anybody at Worthy is against legal immigration, with caps of course. Not everybody who applies should be allowed to come into the country. This is commonly practiced all over the world by other countries.

If they don't have a criminal record or any major diseases, why shouldn't they be allowed to come to America?

What galls American citizens, and landed immigrants like myself, are "open border" people who think anybody who wants to come to America should be able to, and the disregard for American laws by illegal aliens--I refuse to call them "immigrants," they are not "immigrants," they are illegal aliens in the country illegally. Thanks to decades of irresponsibility on the part of the Federal government, we have a situation where you have generations of illegal aliens living and working in America, many of whom have integrated into society, pay taxes, go to church, and so on. We need to uphold the law, yet exercise a measure of compassion at the same time. I am not arrogant enough to tell you how to do this, I for one am not an immigration expert like others here.

We do need to fix the issue. There is a way to do it, but also allow the hard working illegal immigrants that have also been paying taxes to stay. In my opinion, they have earned that right to stay.

The easiest way to fix the problem is to pass a bill that has immigration reform that removes a population cap for immigration, increases its screening efforts, and builds a wall along our border.

Obviously this has nothing to do with the economy--we are at a full capacity of employment in America; anybody who wants a job can find one, even with all the illegal workers here. This has to do with the law and with the respect due American citizens. I really don't think people are racist when we oppose the illegal alien invasion, and I get a little peeved hearing that all the time. It is such a lame argument.

It's not racist when someone speaks out against illegal immigration in terms of economics or legality. It becomes racist when someone mocks them, or when statistics are given showing most want to become citizens they simply mock it and apply a stereotype on it.

If I had supplied statistics showing that 90% of African-Americans on welfare want to be off welfare, and a person came along and said, "Yeah, but what you're missing is, yeah man, of course we want off dat welfare, din we can git all da benefits an make da money, that person would hopefully be reprimanded. Yet, on this thread, one person did that and another laughed about it. Also, if you read the original post it speaks out against legal immigrants. There are two posters on this thread that have also spoken out against legal immigrants.

It becomes racist when you become uncomfortable with the positive aspects of their culture and use that as a reason for rejecting their immigration. I think that is where a majority of the people are.

Think about it, if a bunch of Canadians were pouring across the border, I highly doubt anyone would care. Likewise, we're so worried about terrorists coming in from the southern border, but the truth is it would be much easier to come across the north. Yet, no one ever raises these objections. Wonder why.

We forget...before these folks are immigrants...they are human beings made in the image and likeness of Christ. Why treat them as evil?

Racism, fascism, jingoism...Too many negative -ism's going on here...

It is true. To a certain degree, some of these people are legitimate criminals. Some do come here to leech off the system. Some come here for drug trade. Those types are criminals and should be kicked out, image of God or not. Others, however, just want a better life. Those are the ones we should keep - historically, those type of people have made excellent citizens.

AK if they come here illegally they are all criminals..... I don't understand why you don't understand that...... if you break the laws of our country you are a criminal...... they are breaking the law and they are criminals.

Yes they are as are the corporations who hire them. Who is the bigger criminal and who should we bust first? Should we arrest people who buy new homes if we reasonably expect that they knew that those homes were made illegally by illegal labor? I think until we equally arrest the Americans who hire illegal and the illegal, and then in a way it is racist. You have two parties, both involved in illegal trade, one gets arrested, the other has nothing happen or a slap on the wrist, why? Should we as home buyers demand to have a certification that our new home was not built with illegal labor?

Plus the whole issue would totally dry up it there were no jobs here for these people to do, and who controls the jobs? I do agree we need to stem this tide, and we need to enforce our laws. But as long as we just beat down one side to this, and that side is always the most exploited side, the whole thing is a crock.

Unemployment is almost nonexistent. It is hard to find anybody that doesn't have a job. My supervisor has looked for four months to find anyone to work that doesn't have a felony- no experience necessary - at 9 dollars an hour starting.

No one has applied.

My question is since they are here already why not grant amnesty to them and make them US citizens - thus getting taxes from them and the companies they work for?

So are people who speed. So were black people who sat in the front of the bus in the 40's and 50's.

Is it really a crime to pursue a better life?

Oxymoron???

Nope, not an oxymoron at all. It really isn't a crime to pursue a better life. That is really not "criminal."

What???????? People who speed are criminals. And civil rights are not being violated here. And yes it is a crime to pursue a better life if that means you are breaking laws. For instance my neighbor apothanein kerdos has a better car than I do- so I am going to steal it from him. What? I am a criminal you say? But I was just pursuing a better life.

Yes it is an oxymoron. But I do believe legal immigration is a wonderful thing and we need more hard workers in this country- but we also need them to be documented. So I think Bush's plan would have been a good idea but of course Congress wouldn't go along with it.

Because in addition to breaking our laws, they are being unfair to the people who are doing it the right way. Granted? Not to mention the message it sends to how many others that if they come and are already here, they can get amnesty. One of the worst proposals is the one to give the fastest "track" to those who have been here the longest--the ones who are the worst offenders should get the biggest break! How idiotic is that???

What, pray tell, is being stolen from us? You're using a false analogy. Illegal immigrants aren't taking anything from the American worker, at least the majority are not.

Not at all.

Borders protect us from real criminals and also establish the boundaries for the law. At the same time, I think it's absurd that a nation of our wealth and opportunity exclude people who just want a better life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
