I go the following e-mail in my inbox from the AFA:

Dear Ronald,

Because of your efforts, FCC Chairman Michael Powell has changed his mind about the use of the f word on radio and TV. He now wants to prohibit the use of the word and tremendously increase fines for stations that violate the indecency law!

Send a Thank You email to Chairman Powell and the other four FCC commissioners.

Powells 180-degree about face came one day after AFAs corporate attorney for FCC matters met with FCC Commissioner Michael Copps. And it came after the FCC received more than 1.5 million emails from AFA Online supporters like you!

More good news! Because of your emails to your Representative and Senators, a move is under way in Congress to get the FCC to strictly enforce the law regarding obscenity and indecency on radio and TV. Hearings concerning this matter will be held within a couple of weeks.

None of this would have happened without the actions of individuals like you! Thanks for caring enough to get involved.

Please send a Thank You to Chairman Powell and the other four FCC commissioners. Encourage them to work with members in Congress to address this problem.

Send your Thank You today.

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman

American Family Association

P.S. Please forward this email to at least one friend.

Praise God!!! Now can we maybe look forward to losing "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy"?

Well, I certainly believe we have a Biblical mandate to make a difference in this world and if part of that is to keep up with the current goings-on, so be it! I've actually written my Senators about the "F" word and some of the junk on PBS that passes off as children's cartoons (remember, our tax dollars fund that carp!). I've also written our State Rep. (who just took a position somewhere in the Bush admin. at a low level) about the ruination of our land caused by the rice fields beside us. In the 3 years they've grown rice, they've simply cut it down 2 of those years which is very agitating. If the stuff was being used for good and feeding people, I wouldn't fuss, but when a dude is just growing it to collect insurance money... :x:

I got this from my weekly K-House e-News Letter also check out related links:

THE F.C.C. AND THE F-BOMB

Television shows are becoming noticeably cruder with each passing season and varying levels of profanity have found their way into sitcom and television drama scripts. In the name of "free speech" vulgarity has been allowed to infiltrate television and the airwaves with little effort to stop it. However, American families are growing weary of the noise pollution and have started to shout in protest, and the shouting is being heard.

It has gotten so bad that when U2 singer Bono dropped the F-bomb on live television at the Golden Globe awards last year, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) blew it off as no big deal. The FCC argued that, "the performer used the word as an adjective or expletive to emphasize an exclamation." Since the word was used as an adjective rather than in a sexual context, the FCC ruled in October that the word could be permitted on broadcast television.

Then, during the live Billboard Music Awards in December, Nicole Richie of the Fox TV reality show "The Simple Life" threw out a couple of foul words. While the words were bleeped out on West Coast feeds, they were broadcast live to those watching on the East Coast.

In response to the FCC's ruling that permitted even the most offensive words to be used without penalty, and especially in light of the language used at the Billboard awards, Focus on the Family petitioned the FCC to "clean house" and deal with the problem.

"This latest assault on American families is just another indication that the FCC does not take its job seriously," said Tom Minnery, vice president of public policy for Focus on the Family. "Each year, TV broadcasters grow bolder and bolder, but the FCC acts as if nothing is happening."

Focus on the Family did not stand alone. A large number of family groups protested and millions of Americans wrote to the FCC to reverse its ruling and to take its responsibility seriously. The American Family Association sent its corporate attorney for FCC matters to meet with FCC Commissioner Michael Copps. After the public outrage and with some legal encouragement, FCC Chairman Michael Powell reversed an earlier position he had made and last week called on his fellow commissioners at the FCC to overturn their October ruling.

A couple of congressmen have also taken the issue in hand. In December, congressmen Doug Ose (R-Cal) and Lamar Smith (R-Tex) introduced a bill, the Clean Airwaves Act (H.R. 3687), which defines eight words and phrases that the majority of the public considers profane and indecent. Under the Act, television and radio broadcasters would be penalized if they allowed any of the eight words or phrases to make it out on the air.

"I regret you gotta be specific, but apparently there's somebody out at the FCC who needs that kind of direction," said Ose, the father of two young children.

The Act is already being criticized, however. One free speech lawyer argued that it could hinder legitimate live news broadcasts.

At the same time, Rep. Smith encouraged the FCC to go through with reversing its October ruling. "Profane language on our nation's airwaves is a growing and disturbing trend," Smith said. "We should discourage its use and promote values that strengthen families. Parents should not have to cover their children's eyes and ears when they turn on the television."

-There is even a Straight Guy For The Queer Guy coming sometime which I think will be funny too. Granted it's not appropriate for children but adults are ultimately responsible for what they view.

Anyway, I'm for one thrilled that for now the "f" word is not going to be a part of mainstream TV.

-There is NO-THING funny about sexual perversion being promoted & condoned on TV!!!!

-FOR a christian to take such an outlandish position is just{WRONG!!!!} RESPONSIBILITY??

Yep, I get that Western Channel too on my DISH Network. I watched Shakiest Gun In The West with Don Knotts on there other night. Also seen The Shootist on there the other night. I've also gotten into a habit of watching Bonanza on Hallmark Channel at 6:00 PM. They're showing the later episodes I've never seen. They just started the last season of it, which was the season after Dan Blocker (Hoss) had died during surgery in RL. Candy (David Canary) came back for that last season as well. What an actor. Plays a double part on a soap opera and done Bonanza. Good actor. Let's all applaud good clean TV (though I did watch Dallas today on SoapNet!).

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh RR! Why'd ya have to go and mention Dallas? I miss that show. It was "bad" in a clean way. And JR was mean...Well, he was just mean but ya loved him. Why can't we have something like that again????

BTW -- what were you doing on the Soapnet?

What was I on the SoapNet for? It's a TV station! I was watching Dallas on there! These are the early episodes right after Jock died. Cliff had embezelled $4 million from Wentworth Tool and Dye and was wanting to sell an oil field for $7 million to recoup his costs. A buyer offered him $4 million for it and was the only buyer around. Of course, the buyer was JR!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
