Hmmm, I imagine it is a plea to as God the Father to keep us safe or direct our paths in a safe direction.

I do not think it in God's nature to lead us into temptation, but that we follow God where ever he leads us there will be temptaions that we will need His strength to not give in to it, while He is protecting us from evil.

Its past my bedtime and I'm not I even know what I am saying :(

For the longest time Psalm 23 gave me hard time.

"The Lord is my shephard, I shall not want,

He maketh me to lie in green pastures..........

I always wanted God to be my shephard and the pastures that I am familiar with all have the droppings of animals so I always wondered why God would MAKE me lie there, even when I thought what might be there.

KJV has always been a hard read for me. However, after reading different translations, going back to KJV, it is much easier to understand.

"Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen."

1 John 5:21

Love Him

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
James 1:12-15

Master's Harvest

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Wonderful subject!

I think we could post the Complete Holy Bible to cover the sinful nature of man and the Tender Mercies and Pride-Crushing Grace of God and of His Eternal Goodness to those who trust in Him.

Even before breakfast, your subject set my mind spinning over His Word as one thing lead to another.

Cajunboy,

The first thing to remember is where temptation comes from in the first place. James 1:14 states that "every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." So, there is nothing external that tempts us to sin. Our own nature causes our temptation.

The second thing to remember is that God is not tempted and does not tempt any man (James 1:13). The best example from Scripture to answer your question is the exchange that Jesus and Peter had in Luke 22:31 - 34. Jesus simply told Peter that an attack was coming. At the root of the attack was the temptation for Peter to preserve his own life and deny the Lord. Satan had asked God to sift Peter like wheat. Satan wanted to destroy Peter and his faith just like he wants to do to every believer. God gave permission for Satan to attack Peter and the Lord interceded on Peter's behalf that his "faith may not fail."

When we pray "lead us not into temptation" we are essentially asking for the Spirit to be a greater influencer of our behavior than our sinful flesh. However, remember that even Christ was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted. The Spirit was not involved in the tempting, but facilitated the journey to where the temptation would take place.

Finally, the purpose of temptation must be considered. James 1:2 says to consider it pure joy when trials (i.e., temptations) are encountered because the trials produce perseverance.

Cajunboy:::: Why would you think that might be a surprise? Are you not human just as we are? I've not met one human in all my years of service to God "without sin!"

I know we are all sinners what I was saying is that we are human and sin. The main poin was that we get woredown just like everyone else. I apologize If I sounded wrong. :24:

No apologize necessary brother. I found it more interesting that you would think that an associate to any pastor would not beed revitalizing as well. Are we not all but mere humans? I would have to imagine a Pastor/Priest/Preacher would tend to be more affected by life and its' evils, as satan has to realize that once he's taken down or belittled a "leader" many will follow behind him. And many of the Christian Leaders I have noted, when being truthful, will admit that they feel "oppression" more than most, and they feel the expectations placed on them are more demanding than the average layman or associate. "Much is expected from one who demands much."

Thanks for the kind words Joe, I just believe that there are a huge number of Christian followers here who are being led by God very deliberatly to stand and speak in HIS Name! Christians who have "carried" their crosses (their main crosses) to the finish line and are determined NOT to let satan win his war against man ! Christians who will continue to fight the good fight to their death. I have been able to discern the hundreds here who are safe under the shelter of God's calling and control as we stand in great numbers here! And as long as we pray, speak and stand strong and stay focused in God's Great Name, HE will protect us from the anti-christ out there who finds it extremely difficult to reach any one of us individuals as we "FELLOWSHIP" HERE together In HIS name. We all come from all walks of life and probably have carried every thinkable and unthinkable sin every man of history could be burdoned with with one exception. Through the shedding of the blood of the Lamb of Jesus Christ, we now know that if we do fall into sin again, ever how seldom it might be, we can stand up again, take up our cross, and repent and move on to do God's work as we are all called to do. I can tell you all that as you grow older and I pray (a bit wiser) that falling into satan's traps of sin does become more apparent and evident and by staying nearer to God, you have a stronger armor to fight in defend yourself against the many attempts the enemy can conceal in a day's time. I find it increasingly easier to merely STAY in the confines of God's Word each and every minute of the day by giving thanks and praising HIS name ever so often. And before you know it, you're next to your bedside giving thanks for a wonderful day, that so many unfortunate ones cannot share with you, because YOU ARE SO VERY DIFFERENT than the secular world......WE HAVE GOD WITH US !

BE Blessed and thanks again!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
