"....Then the Lord said in His heart 'I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth."

I'm trying to figure out just what is implied here.

This seem to indicate to me that the destruction of the Earth by the Flood lifted the original curse, but it could just also mean that God wouldn't put any additional curses on the Earth.

Does anyone know for certain?

What would you say after reading the following verses?

Matthew 24:35-39 NASB

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. "For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

2 Peter 3:3-13 NASB

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

I don;t think the curse was lifted. I think God was saying there would be no additional curses.

I would say that God would not make the ground so hard to work. Noah's father (Lamech) said Noah would prove to be a "comfort to us in our painful toil and labor caused by the ground the Lord has cursed." Genesis 5:28

So I believe that once Noah successfully completed God's task for him and offered a sacrifice (a foreshadowing of Christ) God was pleased to lift the curse he'd levied against the ground. Noah, in essense reversed the curse on the ground by his obedience and sacrifice. And now man would not have to work so hard just to get crops from the ground. Thus he becamse a comfort to us all.

I wrote a book titled "Re-Introducing God from Genesis" where I discuss alot of these really cool things as well as God's helpful relationships with people of all walks of life in Genesis. There are prophesies in Genesis that people have overlooked for years. Even European dominance is predicted in Genesis. (Private email removed by moderator)

Hello DarkNebulaWelder,

I have always found this passage you have brought up in Genesis 8:21 an interesting passage. As we know that God did curse the ground to where man had to till and work the ground in order for it to bring forth food. Man had to work by the sweat of his brow for the sin he committed in the garden. I know in Genesis that Cain had brought an offering to the Lord from the fruit of the ground vegtables he had grown to the Lord. So I know the ground had brought forth fruit to those that worked and tilled the soil and planted from what I read in Genesis.

I know the people of the earth had grown wicked as stated in Genesis 6 and because of that terrible wickedness God had brought a flood and destroyed all of mankind and every living creature on the entire face of the earth except Noah and his family which was only 8 people along with the animals God caused to come into the ark that was saved in this flood that came onto this earth. Then after the flood recinded and was dried up Noah and his family and the animals came off the ark and Noah builds an altar to God and offers up a sacrifice in the 8th chapter of Genesis vs 21 as God begins to smell the savour of that offering in His nostrils and is reminded how because of sin He had cursed the ground for man's disobedience and God says in His heart, "I want curse the ground anymore because of man's sin and imagination of his heart to want to do evil" God is basically saying I'm not going to curse it again for what has happened in Genesis 6 as the flood had came upon all upon the earth except Noah who found grace in the eyes of the Lord and his family and all the animals except what was on the ark as God's judgment had came and the flood took them all away drowning all.

But I see it was a beautiful and gracious thing in which God did instead of cursing the ground again because of sin as God had mercy and said that he would in

Genesis 8:22--"While the earth remaineth seedtime and harvest and cold and heat and summer and winter and day and night shall not cease."

God said He would allow seedtime and harvest to continue along with the changing seasons and both day and night wouldn't end but would remain up until the end of the earth as spoken in 2 Peter 3:6-13 Mankind would have to still work by the sweat of his brow to get the earth to bring forth food but a promise left us by God was that if we plant it will grow and we will be feed. Planting time and harvest time and the changing seasons and day to work and night to rest is a promise and a gift from God above comforting the heart of man in the midst of a sin stricken world.

I don't have any idea how hard it was for Adam to get food to grow from the ground after he was put out of the garden as the Lord had said that the earth would bring forth thorns and thistles making it hard on him. But I couldn't imagine in my mind how hard it would be on mankind if God would have cursed the ground again for their sins so that the earth would not bring forth. I can't imagine having neither day or night to work and rest by or any of the changing seasons I just know mankind has got alot to be thankful for for the mercy and grace of our God who showed mercy to Noah and his family.

God put a rainbow as a sign of the covenant that He would never again destroy the people of the earth with a flood again but He has foretold to us that His judgment will be coming up the earth in the endtimes to judge the disobedient and it will be fire the next time. Hope I have helped

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
