A husband's headship in the family is positive and negative.

On the positive side, when exercised properly headship maintains order and harmony within the family. On the negative side the father has the burden of responsibility and accountability to God.

If the husband is accountable to God for the family then we should be able to find evidence of this in Genesis. Show me then how Adam was accountable to God for THEM? Help me understand how Adam was responsible for telling Eve, 'God told me I must not eat fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

You can't argue from a vacuum. You cannot argue that Adam does not have headship over Eve because of a statement which you claim he should have said. The fact that Adam was likewise tempted to eat of the wrong fruit is proof of nothing.

Adam was made first. He had the first place in the old creation. Just as Christ has the headship over the new creation. 1 Cor. 15:45-49; Col. 1:18

See God's command was ONLY to Adam when He gave it to him. That's as plain as IT GETS. Then God told them both not to eat or touch.

Thi sis also untrue according to Scripture.

(Gen. 2:16-17)

"And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may eat freely,

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, of it you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall"

(Gen. 3:2-3)

"And the woman said to the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die."

There is no record that God told the woman not to eat of that tree. There is no record at all that God spoke to the woman at all until He confronted them both with their transgression. It is likely that Adam instructed Eve not to eat of that tree.

You know I used to think that too until I sat down and seriously tried to reason it out.

One, when God told Adam, God was only speaking to Adam because Eve had not yet been created and God couldn't give His plan away else Adam would not have learned his lesson about aloneness.

Two, Scripture doesn't say that Adam told Eve, and Eve doesn't say that Adam told her. We must be careful of building whole buildings on a floor that doesn't exist.

Three, Eve DOES say that God SAID to THEM (you is plural in Hebrew). I used to believe that she lied and added to the words that Adam told her or that Adam added to the words and she repeated them. But that is all assumptions built on silence.

The only thing left is to simply believe that the woman told the truth (there is no indication anywhere in Scripture that she didn't) and that God told THEM..... just as she said He did, including an added restriction not to touch.

Really it is a bigger stretch to say that she lied, when there is no evidence, or to say that Adam told her, when there is also no evidence. What we DO have is that Eve said that God said to them.

God told Adam. Adam told Eve, "God said that we. Therefore it is taken as "God told us." It does not mean that Eve lied when she said, "God told us."

Either way. If my interpretation lacks a "floor" and the other lacks a floor also, then neither must be true. :emot-handshake:

LOL :o

Well, first what is Adam going to tell Eve?.... that God told him that he couldn't eat. that is what God told Adam, that "he", not they, couldn't eat. God couldn't say "they" because He had not yet formed Eve and couldn't tell Adam what He was going to do. And the Hebrew is singular "you", not plural.

So, where can we see that Adam told Eve? We cannot. When Eve says God said "you", that is the plural you, which is not the same as what God told Adam. So, we'd have to assume that Adam changed the words, but why should we. Why not just believe Eve that God said to them........ If Adam had told Eve, she more likely would have said that God said to Adam (or Adam said that God said), and then we are back with what is Adam going to tell her!

I am much more inclinded to believe the inspired grammar and words and believe that what Eve said is what happened..... God said to them together at a different time. That certainly isn't a stretch. After all God walked with them in the garden and there is no reason to believe that God didn't talk to them.

We needn't assume anything, though, if Eve took Adam's commandment as God's having told them both. If I were only one of two human beings on the earth and I had heard that God commanded something to the other, I would tend to believe that it was also commanded to me as well.

Where is the verse that says that God walked with "them" in the garden?

Except that Eve said that God said "you" plural. That is what Scripture says, so either she was lying and she assumed (and we have no reason to believe she was lying) or the Scripture is accurate. If she assumed as you suggest, then she definitely lied when she said "not to touch". But nowhere in Scripture is there any indication that Eve assumed anything or that she lied. If she didn't lie, then she told the truth and what she said is exactly what happened.

And how did you think that God presented the woman to the man if He wasn't there in the garden with them? He had to actually say something....... :emot-handshake:

Again, it doesn't have to be interpreted as a lie or an assumption on Eve's part. She was one of only two human beings on the planet. Naturally she would have taken God's commandment of Adam as applying to her as well.

I was hoping for the verse(s) that state that God "walked with them" in the garden. Do you believe that God's first words to Eve were to reiterate His commandment to Adam?

I also believe that Adam learned it from God when he sacrificed the animal for coats of skins (Very likely it was a lamb), and he passed it down to his sons.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
