Harry Potter to be or not to be

Is it right to get aggressive and obsessive and persecute the author and everyone who reads it and likes it?

This is what really makes me angry: people who write hate letters and threaten J.K. Rowling because she's written these books. That's just SICK. That does not show Christian love, it is NOT an effective way to bring her to Christ (if, indeed, she isn't a Christian...but whatever), and it is NOT some sort of spiritual duty that we have. She is a human. She is a mother. She has seen hard times. She has feelings and a heart which can be hurt, broken, and bruised. If any of you is even THINKING about writing her a hate letter or whatever, I want you to think about how you would feel if you were in her shoes, and I want you to think about every bad thing you've done, AND every time you've been falsely accused of doing something wrong...then get down on your knees, and thank God Almighty for His mercy, 'cause it is because of THAT--not personal merit--that we all have the hope of seeing heaven someday.

ok, i'm back momentarily.

i'm amazed that anyone could consider something that God speaks so strongly against to be something so "small" and petty.

as for satan rubbing his hands together at how christians are disagreeing on this issue, i'd say he's rubbing his hands far more gleefully over how many christians think he is harmless, and who spend a small fortune on movie tickets and popcorn to expose their children to such "entertainment".

I didn't say anyone was, I said IF someone was CONSIDERING doing it. And it is a real issue. That poor woman has received LOADS of hate mail from people who claim to be Christians. We need to watch our attitudes towards people like her.

Ok, seriously, this thread has got to stop. We are getting way to out of hand over a book series. As far as I'm concerned. If your children can't distinguish between reality and fiction then DON'T TAKE THEM TO SEE THE MOVIES OR READ THE BOOKS. Thank you, (sorry for the use of caps, just trying to get everyone's attention) and please, no fighting over this. We are taking each other down more then actually arguing over this topic. If you guys are going to continue this thread then at least try to stop from verbally attacking other people.

I'm glad this is the last book because these rehashes are tiresome.

Next thing you know, card tricks and pulling a quarter from a kids ear is going to be evil.

These kinds of threads get soooo judgemental.

I say, let the Holy Spirit convict us and let the judging be done by God.

As if it isn't bad enough these days having to deal with fake quotes in movie ads, a Hollywood studio has a different sort of a headache. Warner Bros. (which, like PEOPLE, is owned by AOL Time Warner) has had a spell cast on it by witches in Britain. (Should it also be noted that this is the studio that made "The Witches of Eastwick"?) At issue is the fact that the film "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," whose trailers are not appearing in theaters, show apprentice wizard Harry Potter riding his broomstick with the brush part at the back. This just isn't form, claims a high priest of British White Witches, who insists that broomsticks should be ridden the other way around. He now wishes for the film, which opens in November, to do badly at the box office -- unless the studio admits its mistake. "Warner Bros. claims the film is an accurate portrayal of things that happen in witchcraft, yet woodcuts from the 16th and 17th centuries show broomsticks being ridden with the brush part in the front," said Kevin Carlyon, whose own coven is in Sussex. "It's a common mistake," he concedes, "even the '60s TV series 'Bewitched' showed broomsticks being ridden backwards, but this is not correct." Carlyon also claims that he knows first hand the proper way to ride a broomstick. He has three, though, like the Concorde, they are currently grounded. "The CAA (Britain's Civil Aviation Authority) won't give me permission to fly," he said.
