Not really. I don't believe in God, so how can I hate him? More to the point, I find the concept of Heaven and Hell ludicrous. They look to me like man-made devices to keep people under control, in the Church. 'Believe us, or have everlasting torture'. Quite charming. I find it sad that people spend their lives denying themselves pleasure in this life, for favours in the non-existent next.

How terribly deceived you are, davem. I pray that you come to see the Truth before your time here is spent.

The doctrines of heaven and hell were taught by Jesus Himself before His followers had any real control or political power. It certainly can be used as a propaganda tool by overzealous evangelists who prefer to scare people into the kingdom, but I think most Christians just accept the reality of hell and acknowledge that it's not a pleasant place. Your statement about denial of pleasure has me confused, though... could you please elaborate on that?

"Lovers Of Pleasures More Than Lovers Of God"

Now How Would Paul Know That? Reads Like He Could Have Been Reading This Thread!

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Timothy 3:1-4

When Man Gives God Their Worst

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
Proverbs 8:36

God Gives Man His Best

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

With Joy!

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2

Isn't He Lovely

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

Numbers 6:24-27

Love, Joe

The Title of the thread is Scientific Evidence for God. Nobody has shown any scientific evidence for God. Could you please close this thread as unlike Ronsel, it does not do what it says on the tin.

Hmmmm. Maybe go back and read the "kind" thread. Your analysis wasn't so hot there.

I was thinking about re-opening that topic with a new thread doctor

So....what's a thread doctor? :o

Christian logic at work - trump an opinion with another opinion.

Ah, but at least I HAVE logic. Deluding yourself into thinking you can do as you please, without consequence, now THAT'S illogical. Trouble is, most won't understand that concept until it's too late. I seriously hope that doesn't happen to you nonbelievers. Something to think about. :)

Indeed your view is logical - whether it's supported by evidence is another matter.

"What is rational is actual and what is actual is rational. On this conviction the plain man like the philosopher takes his stand, and from it philosophy starts in its study of the universe of spirit as well as the universe of nature." - G.W.F. Hegel

I wouldn't go around saying that your opponents' views are logical unless you are a relativist or plan to convert to their way of thinking. lol

I in no way think I can do whatever I please. I live in a society with laws, so the concept of consequences for my actions is not unfamiliar. :P

I got two honest questions for ya:

1. Do you believe that any moral obligation exists apart from our obligation to abide by society's laws?

2. What do you believe to be the basis of moral law/virtues, if not God's commands or character traits?

Er, no. What is logical is not necessarily actual. (In order for that to be true, all logical possibilities must exist. That idea isn't supported either by science or Scripture.)

Logic governs what is and is not Possible. Logic cannot fully tell us what is Actual, which is a SUBSET of the Possible.

We need to LOOK at our universe to learn what is actual. Logic just helps us to deduce possibilities and winnow out the impossibilities.

I'm sure you follow the law, FQ. I was thinking more in spiritual and moral terms. :21:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
