I think that seminaries have become far too homogenized. It's sort of like they train these folks to conform to image of the church, and have turned the calling into something more like a career or profession than a unique ministry.

I think someone with the call of God on them would fare far better to do their seminary time in the wilderness like John the Baptist did and conform to the image of Christ rather than the church. If we had enough folks doing this we would see some radical changes in the church.

I am always struck by how much the church conforms with the world. The suit-and tie image reminds me a whole lot more of businessmen than of disciples.

I think far too often the Holy Spirit is quenched in these matters.

Anyway, that's my 2 shekels.

I have only noticed the following references to Christ's Law and don't know exactly what it is and how it affects us today.

I know it has already been said but I wanted to post the actual Scripture.

The Greatest Commandment --- The Law of Christ

Matthew 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Great Scripture!

So that leads to this question:

Are we Christians bound under the Law of Christ as the Jews were bound under the Moasic Law?

Made perfect sense to me! One cannot abide in love unless love abides in him.

I noticed that OA has this habit of making profound statements.....the kind you just don't forget.

This is another one of those revelations that I could ponder over and over...

Seminaries are supposed to be the training camps for our future shepherds, tending the flocks ...young and old, senior and infant...saved and searching.

They're crucial in their role in the Body...so Satan will strike the shepherd where he's vulnerable...in the wallet. Yep. You thought I'd say something else...huh?

It's his wallet. That's what most men worry about...how to feed and support his wife and children.

Pastors may be leaders but they're men too...husbands, fathers...real human beings.

Satan will exploit this and take a man's eyes off his Lord and His provision... and convert a genuine calling from God into a business...one that can produce some rather attractive perks and writeoffs, too. Sad but true. The enemy knows us all too well, I'm afraid. It's no surprise he strikes hard at the jugglar vein, (seminaries).

Excellent insigth, OA...

I catch flack from some because I have no degrees on my walls yet I preach the Lords Gospel as the Holy Gjost inspires me. Most do not know how much time in the Word and in prayer I have spent to learn what Christ has taught me. This is the same raod my Pastor took and he is full of Wisdom and Revelation from God. The Lord has drawn a similiar path for me. Have I ever wanted to go to seminary, yes I even began the process to go to Lee University to study in there Missions Program, but God would have non of it. I asked him why and all I get is that he does not want me to learn from man but from HIM, so I simply obey HIM and my walk and HIS ministry through me have flourished. Each person has to do what they feel the Lord doing in their own hearts. Do though study to show yourself approved as Paul wrote to Timothy. Blessings...

I want to comment real quick on this before I get to the main reason for this post.

Who in the world would give you flack for that? I mean, did Jesus or Paul or Timothy have a PhD in theology?

NO! We don't need one either.

Seminarys are more like schools of indoctrination. They teach you HOW to think like a Baptist, Prez, Meth. or whatever seminary you happen to go to. Sad.

All we need is these three things:

1. A Bible

2. The Holy Spirit

3. Willingness to accept what the Bible says regardless of where it may lead you

Brother Jake,

God-man answered beautifully.

I will only add this comment. It is not about being bound. It is about abiding. A marriage contract is binding...and can be broken. BUT abiding in a marriage means to remain in it...a choice made on the basis of love.

Love doesn't "bind" us. Love frees us to enjoy the abiding.

OK, it doesn't make sense to y'all but it does to me. Love is what keeps me faithful and abiding in my marriage.

Bless you,

Wayne

So let me ask this question.

Since we are set free from the Moasic Law and all of the restrictions and rules and are also free from sin....

....

Jake is thinking here.

Is it more of a law of freedom? Like we are free to serve and glorify Jesus where as in the OT the people were required to serve and glorify God?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
