Veritology: What is truth?

Why did Jesus come into the world?

Jn. 18:34-38

Jn. 1:17

Jn. 17:17

Jn. 4:24

Jn. 8:32

What takes us captive?

Eph. 6:14

The Prophet's Lament

Is. 59:14

Jer. 7:28

How Do We Respond

The Real Trial

- Truth vs. Lie

- John 18:37

37Pilate said to Him, Then You are a King? Jesus answered, You say it! [You speak correctly!] For I am a King. [Certainly I am a King!] This is why I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth [who is a friend of the Truth, who belongs to the Truth] hears and listens to My voice.

The Cosmic Battle

Truth vs. Lie

Spirit of Truth vs. Spirit of Falsehood

Truth/Reality vs. Lie/Illusion

Our Poor Choice

2 Thessalonians 2:9-13 (Amplified Bible)

9The coming [of the lawless one, the antichrist] is through the activity and working of Satan and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of [pretended] miracles and signs and delusive marvels--[all of them] lying wonders--

10And by unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing (going to perdition) because they did not welcome the Truth but refused to love it that they might be saved.

11Therefore God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false,

12In order that all may be judged and condemned who did not believe in [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely on] the Truth, but [instead] took pleasure in unrighteousness.

13But we, brethren beloved by the Lord, ought and are obligated [as those who are in debt] to give thanks always to God for you, because God chose you from the beginning [a]as His firstfruits (first converts) for salvation through the sanctifying work of the [Holy] Spirit and [your] belief in (adherence to, trust in, and reliance on) the Truth.

Two Fathers

John 8:34-42

- the dialogue

- Jews John 8:34-47 (Amplified Bible)

vs. 39 They retorted, Abraham is our father.

- Jesus

vs. 39 Jesus said, If you were [truly] Abraham's children, then

You would do the works of Abraham [follow his

Example. You are doing the works of your [own] father.

- Jews

Vs. 41 They said to Him, We are not illegitimate children and

born out of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

- Jesus

Vs. 42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would

love Me and respect Me and welcome Me gladly, for I

proceeded (came forth) from God [out of His very

presence]. I did not even come on My own authority of

My own accord (as self-appointed); but He sent Me.

Connecting Sin, Lies and Deception

Rom. 7:11

2 Thes. 2:10

Eph. 4:22

Heb. 3:13

Every sin that besets us can be traced back to our belief in a lie.

Captives

2 Tim. 2:24-26

We can't deal with them arrogantly but as captives, remembering

That we once were.

The Antithesis (Battle of Worldviews)

Unity vs. Division

Diversity vs. Unification

Roles vs. Jealousy

Responsibility vs. Blame

Authority vs. Rebellion

Delegation vs. Tyranny

Freedom vs. Bondage

Glimpse at Anthropology

- Goo Man

- Product of the Cosmos

- Basically Good

- Perfectable

Postmodernism

What is Truth?

- Ravi Zacharias : "Pilot walked away from the greatest Authority

After asking the greatest question, thus committing the greatest

Crime."

- Noah Webster (1828 Dictionary)

It is a very good study in circular reasoning.

And what circular reasoning of choice do you prefer?

I am not a fan of circular reasoning.

What is your worldview regarding the validity of knowledge? Does ultimate knowledge originate with God?

Well, regarding the truth in an historical context, I believe that we only have degrees of truth, such is the nature of evidence.

I wouldn't get overly philosophical over what 'knowledge' is, but, for me, knowledge has to be supported by evidence that is available to everyone, and that knowledge must be reasonably inferred from that evidence.

'Does ultimate knowledge originate with God' is an excellent question, but one that is not answerable from my world view.

What is ultimate knowledge and what is God, and how could we possibly go about verifying these ideas?

Not to add any precariousness to your position, but I think you will definitely have to get philosophical. For example, if you do not hold to the truth of God either way, do you believe in any transcendental truths whatsoever? How can we expect to know objective truths at all when there are different interpretations of universals and concrete evidence?

Why get so complicated? Knowledge is . . . what you know. how hard is that?

if we went with your statement, nobody would know anything because you speak of evidence that is available to everyone and quite frankly that doesn't exist.

By knowing God,

Knowledge is what you know, based on study and personal experience.

Wisdom is the application of knowledge, amplified by personal experience.

A personal relationship with Jesus is a life full personal experience.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
