Bird Feeder A funny parallel...

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it

with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage

of

the continuos flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio,

above

the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was

everywhere: on the patio tile, the

chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean:

They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had

fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and

loud:

They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours

of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on

food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch

anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds

were

gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had

built all over

the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...... quiet,

serene and no one

demanding their rights to a free meal. Now lets see.... our government

gives out free food,

subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone

born here

to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegal's came by the tens of

thousands.

Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small

apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by

an

emergency room doctor: your child's 2nd grade class is behind other

schools

because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come

in

a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in

English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking

and

screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it' s time for the government to take down the bird

feeder.

Ya-think?????

I think perhaps Kat's parable was a bit too subtle for you. It address illegal immigration, not legal immigration. Like your grandmother, my parents are first generation Americans. But they did it the legal way and bypassed no laws and took no shortcuts to create a life here.

I know Kat and I know she holds no animosity towards anybody coming to this country legally.

God told me to love everyone. So I'm not going to hate illegal aliens as so many others do. If our country would repent of it's wickedness, there would be plenty for all. It is in everyone's legal rights to reach out to non English people in this country. You want to get mad for the right reasons? Complain in droves to these companies who use automated devices to answer phones instead of real people. Now that's really something to complain complain about.

Who said anything about hating illegals? That's not the point at all.

I have to disagree a little with you on that. Private companies who use automated answerers and dialers don't cost me money, necessarily, and you don't have to answer the phone if you don't want to. Illegal immigants cost all American taxpayers, in both financial terms and other ways, as well. And you can't avoid that cost. It has nothing to do with love. I think most Americans have love for their fellow man coming out the wazoo. But we are gowing increasingly weary of lawbreakers getting away with it.

I think that is sooo wrong!!! First of all, why are you comparing apples to oranges? People are NOT birds.

My maternal grandmother immigrated here w/ my aunt several years ago, way before I was born, from Canada. All my aunt spoke was French.

Just b/c people immigrate here doesn't make them evil, bad, terrorists, mean or any of the other things you may have been implying. Do you ever stop to think about why a person would immigrate to America? Do you ever stop to think that some people immigrate here to get away from bad situations in the countries they come from b/c they want better for themselves? Not everyone who immigrates here comes to set up terrorist cells to bomb us!!!! How would you feel if you were in these people's shoes?

I think you may want to reconsider you position before you voice it. Put yourself in other people's shoes.

:emot-highfive:

Have you taken any English classes? This post is considered a metaphor and not a comparison. People like Kat, Marnie and I use metaphors often, it's a form of writing that is used to emphasize a point. Of which you obviously missed.

The point was, since we have to spell it out: Once you start giving handouts to people, they will appreciate it, word will spread and more will come looking for handouts, then when there aren't enough handouts to go around, the once grateful and needy people become angry and ungrateful. Eventually you get to a point where there are so many angry and ungrateful people, that nothing you can do will satisfy them. There just comes a point when you don't have the time, energy or resources to take care of a growing, freeloading population.

Our Federal deficit is over 200 billion dollars and you really think, right now, when we are practically bankrupt as a nation, that we can afford to give more handouts?

Never, in history has a nation given so much of itself that it is on the verge of self-destruction. I seriously doubt there will be another nation, after ours, that will be as charitable as us.

Personally, since nothing we do satisfies the hatred the world has for our nation, I believe we need to stop giving charity to everyone else in the world and keep that money in our bank accounts. Over 60 percent of our nation is in debt. Maybe we have emptied our piggy-banks enough and need to start refilling them. Charity is great, but right now, as a nation we cannot afford it.

Is there not a difference between legal and illegal immigration?

And if there is, what is it?

Many have come legally and it often entails a long waiting period. The illegals by-pass doing it the right way. I'm with the legals, they don't flount our laws, and come to be Americans not so-and-so's living in our country, refuse to learn the language and create general mayhem, one of which is dividing us against one another.

Are you Christian, Bob? Did God tell you to be a good citizen and obey the laws and rules of your country? If we cannot be good citizens here, how are we going to be good citizens in heaven?

Please think about the difference between legal and illegal. God frowns on one of them.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
