Well what does deformed mean?

Breasts for example on women have the purpose of providing sustenance to infant children. To me women's breasts that are basically capable of doing this would obviously not be deformed. Women's breasts are not deformed because they don't match the perceived sexual or aesthetic expectations of some men or some parts of our culture (usually false expectations sold to us in fashion magazines, t.v. and sadly the porn industry). If it causes a health problem yes I can see that you would want to do something. But really the type of man who would use that sort of superficial and external expectation for judging a women is not who would make a good future long term partner and husband anyway.

What about aging? Are we deformed because we age and grow wrinkled and sag etc? I would say of course not, aging is part of who we are and very natural. But certainly aging has a large effect for example on women and a man's chests, should they try to change that?

I just think we go down this path of almost perpetual unhappiness chasing an external idealization that is false and defined by other people.

It shouldn't be about WHERE the proceedure is done. People get tattoos...People get their ears pierced...people get their hair styled...people get cosmetic surgery...people get their teeth fixed...etc.

who cares.

If you have given your portion to God, and have provided for your responsibilities...and you are still blessed enough to have money to spend on yourself...then its NOBODY's business if you spend your money on breast augmentation, a physical trainer, or whitening your teeth.

My thought is "How will this glorify God?" This is what should guide everything we do. A woman should not use her body to create lust in another person. It is one thing to look nice and attractive, but totally another thing to dress seductively. Having surgery to enhance body parts seems as if the purpose would be to draw attention to oneself. This is a totally different situation than getting a prosthetic arm or leg. In that case it will enable the person to function better in life -- walking, holding things, etc. But have ones breasts enlarged is a "me" thing or a "look at me" thing, and I believe it is not right.

So is having white teeth. Are you against having braces or bleaching your teeth?

BTW...I agree prothestics was a bad argument, since we are discussing 'cosmetic' enhancements.

I hope it is ok to start this discussion here. Mods, please feel free to remove if not.

I just wanted to know what your thoughts are about women having surgery to change their breast size.

I am not referring to those who have undergone masectomys or breast reduction due to health reasons.

Are there any scripture references to support it?

Or, if not, what scriptures would indicate that it is not ok for a christian woman to change her body and what God has blessed her with?

I have my thoughts and opinions but I might share them with you later.

I would just like to hear what others think and I would encourage men to share too, if they feel comfortable to do so.

It would be good if the discussion dosn't get into a heated debate, though.

thanks! :whistling:

Generally, women who go for something like that do it for the attention it gets from men. You must ask, is this what I want? To have men look at me in a sexual manner imagining all kinds of things? When we know that every unclean thought is not a good thing? When we sow to the flesh, we reap from the flesh. But, spiritual creatures cast fleshly things away.

Women are also responsible and carry a burden for men in the way they dress. Women know that men are easily heated by what they see. Therefore, holy comportment in all things is efficacious. Those with natural endowments must dress them in a way they do not become a stumbling block for brothers.

What would Jesus say? Those who know Him well, know! Those who are just getting to know Him, must take the advice from those who know Him. My advice? Don't do it. The least of the issues on that subject are health-related.

I would tend to think it a bad idea also. We men don't need breasts of certain sizes. It's the whole person, especially the inner person that makes for a meaningful lasting relationship. Men who want certain exclusive physical characteristics in their "women" are shallow and need to grow up.

Other than that if there are extenuating circumstances that make it conducive to a sense of security for a woman, that is between her, her husband and the doctors.

However, and a big however, I'm not sure that breast augmentations are really that safe or healthy. I would consider that a very big concern.

Thanks for your views and I totally respect all that is written here.

I held off for a short while, just until I felt comfortable to post.

I don't support it at all and I do struggle with the idea that Christian women want to have it done.

But I don't want to debate it either. For a christian woman to have it done, it's between her and the Lord and she will be accountable for it, if it's not within God's perfect plan or will for her life.

Thank you. God bless.

I don't understand. If you didn't want to debate this topic, then why did you start this thread?

Written like a true man. It's best not to be too general; you can't possibly know why a woman has procedures done.

As one who has invested tens of thousands of dollars in cosmetic surgery to repair damages to my face and body from my injuries, I can tell you I did not have all those procedures done to attract men or for sexual reasons! I did it so people wouldn't look at me and say, "Oh you poor thing! What happened to you?" or "Yuck!" Not to mention being able to work and function in the world.

Your body is your personal, private property. Let your redeemed conscience be your guide in this. And for Pete's sake, keep your mouth shut about it! Don't tell too many people. You'll have them staring you in the chest constantly.

But remember, once you get it done, there's no going back. Well, there is, but it's painful both physically and financially.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having any type of surgery for the purposes you mentioned. I think God would want you to be happy with yourself and not be worrying about what other people think. Where it is wrong is what was mentioned before and that is for the sole purpose of outdoing other females in the looks category by enhancing breast size or for purpose of getting attention. This whole thing has gotten out of hand. Too many teenage girls these days are having these kinds of surgeries. Society has given them all the wrong impressions...
