I clicked on this topic, because I would really like to understand more about Hebrew roots, maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but so far all I have seen here and for that matter, most everywhere else I have looked,is topics leading to arguments.People venting their frustration.I don't think that's what these forums were intended for.Jesus said enter by the Narrow gate, for wide is the gate, and broad is the road that leads to destruction. The Narrow way requires listening to the still small voice.I haven't heard it much here, and it is drowned out much too quickly.

If someone "preferably a Hebrew who really understands this"would be willing to take me aside and help me to understand these things I would be willing to listen.I want to make a difference and this is a stumbling block for me.This country is so corrupt,I was writing last night about how people in this country, from a young age are taught to think a certain way,and that thinking outside of this is not encouraged.Things aren't the way they seem. Most people just go by what they have been taught about this country and how things are,and they don't know it is wrong. The idolatry of patriotism, the brainwashing of youth.I read in Habakkuk where it says woe to him who founds a town on bloodshed and violence, isn't that what we are founded on as a nation?"Our founding fathers may have been Christian, but were the people who first came to America really following Christianity the way Jesus taught? And i would even be willing to say that our founding Fathers would be"and probably are" rolling over in their graves about the way things are today. Our National anthem glorifies war and violence. We are taught from youth that this is something to glorify and be proud of.

Shalom,

If you'd like to ask some specific questions about Hebrew Roots, I'm happy to answer. As to your other thoughts, they might be better placed in other topics as they don't relate to Hebrew Roots specifically.

Shalom eyesnowopen (I like your name! That's how I feel too!)

I am brand-new to this BB but hopefully can share some encouragement with you! (To just throw something in here, I use the name Yeshua in speaking our my Lord and Saviour, as that is the Hebrew name by which our Lord was called; its a personal thing, and I intend no offense to those who use the name Jesus, nor does that bother me). That said... :)

As a believer in Yeshua (Jesus) and relatively new to walking in Torah (as a formerly very NT-oriented Christian) I will primarily respond to your question from the "grafted-in" standpoint. But as a preface, I am reminded that all of us are on a "journey" here. There are Jewish believers in Messiah Yeshua who are sorting through their upbringing, and there are Christians who have newly discovered the Hebrew/Jewish roots of our own Christian faith. There may well also be non-believers - Jewish or gentile - who are simply curious, or are here searching for answers. Looking at things from a Biblical standpoint, I believe in these last days we will continue to see conflicts and struggles within the Body (perhaps ESPECIALLY in the Messianic Torah-observant camp) as both Christian Messianic believers and Messianic Jews sort through centuries-old misperceptions and new personal revelation (and the enemy works to take advantage of the confusion). BUT, we can trust in the faithfulness of our Abba God Who is NOT the author of that confusion! As we continue to seek him in His Word (His WHOLE Word!) He will be faithful to open our spiritual eyes again and again! As we do witness debate and sometimes hard feelings in such a vulnerable place as an internet BB  where believers are doing all that "sorting" and seeking understanding , I am reminded of Colossians 3:

"Therefore if you have been raised up with Yeshua, keep seeking the things above , where He is seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth...... as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, whoever has a complaint against another, just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Yeshua rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called into one Body, and be thankful.... whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through Him to God the Father."

As I have a number of thoughts to share with you here, I'll continue tomorrow with my take on your questions.... :)

Shalom Aleichem.

Thanks for the welcome to the BB! :)

eyesnowopen - sorry I didn't get back here yesterday! I have only a minute now also - but will be back ASAP!

quote: " ...My understanding is that I am a grafted in Gentile believer. But I am curious as to whether or not I have Hebrew roots in My family tree.Did the Israelites migrate North into Europe. What is my standing in the Body of Christ? "

The most vital question you asked is "What is my standing in the Body of Christ? " Why? Because the most imperative thing to grasp is this:

Your standing in the Body of Christ is exactly that. Your salvation IS Christ. Yeshua gave His lifeblood on the cross for you, and it is through that blood - and nothing else - that you are saved. Obedience is part of the "package" - but it is not your salvation. Roots is part of the "package", but it is not your salvation.

More later. :emot-hug:

Shalom.

Why not look for a Messianic congregation? Where do you live? I found that the best way to find the answer is to ask G-d and to ask the Jewish community itself. The MJAA (Messianic Jewish Alliance of America) at www.mjaa.org or the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations (UMJC) at www.umjc.org. They should have a list of congregations and synagaogues on the site.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
