Spirit Baptism Vs. Water Baptism

I don't get it.

I understand the information you are sharing but I don't understand what the practices of people who it sounds like are lost have to do with worshiping God in the truth about baptism.

Who cares if people baptize in certain ways, even in an extreme polar reaction to the extreme mistakes of their religious inheritance? As long as it is biblical and as long as it is done with pure intentions in the heart, it counts for God.

I am just saying that I don't understand what you are trying to inform me about. Thanks stevehut...

Like I said, just check out the books I listed. Some of the highlights, in various places:

Frequently, they baptize unbelievers, in the belief that the ceremony will have some mystical effect.

The water must be sanctified and "holy"

The minister and the candidate must wear special garments.

The officiant must recite a long, complicated verbatim prayer.

All kinds of pomp and pageantry are required.

Kinda hard to summarize with the full effect in this forum, but that's the general idea. Do all of these things really make a baptisn more valid? Does it make the person more "holy"?

I say no.

And to think that they do, is nothing short of idolatry. If you think baptism is valid in a vacuum of faith, you're dealing in a "magic potion"; almost borders on witchcraft, if you ask me.

I don't understand the intial statement that started this forum.

I don't get that water and spirt baptism are different.

When I was baptized I was baptized only once for God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirt. So i see it all as one and don't understand the debate.

As I stated in another forum on Tongues, Why is that when those who claim to have this gift of Tounges must seem to boast about it and condem other to feeling bad because they don't speak in tounges. Don't condemm me lest you be judged.

When I say that my niece has been baptized it should not turn into an argumenet of what age she is. The Bible state only that you be able to confess with your own mouth. So it does not matter the age.

And as far as water and spirt my niece did all at once based on my understanding of the scriptures.

I don't see why everything has to turn into an arguement.

I would think when someone tells you wonderful news it is more Praise the Lord, Good job, awesome. Not, lets make a debate about this issues.

When you don't congradulate it sounds like you are condemming the baptism as worthless and that I or my niece will never make to heaven because we come to an understanding of the scriptures differently. Who are you to determine what is right and wrong and who made you God to condemm such a beutiful thing?

Sorry if I'm not in agreement with some of you on this issue. Before I say any more I'm just gonna stop here.

May the peace of the Lord Bless us all,

ray

stevehut,

thanks for the email explaining your point of view.

the rite can be given only by a minister who possesses genuine apostolic succession from Peter.  The building must be consecrated, and the water must be

consecrated.  (Certain bodies of water, such as the Jordan or Lourdes, are already

Your salvation or whatever is dependent upon men, isn't it? What if a man screwed up and didn't do it right? What if your heart wasn't pure? What if the minister's heart wasn't pure? Wouldn't that make your baptism invalid? Wouldn't that mean that you would have to redo it, in reality an endless number of times? Why? Because no matter how much we make the effort, we simply are not perfect. How could God use something imperfect to usher in the perfect? No, our salvation, reception of the Holy Spirit, or being washed clean from sin to be made ready for the reception of the Spirit, has to be done by God; the holy one, alone.

It has never been so well articulated...

Amen and Amen

One word: Grace.

But just because God is generous with his grace, that doesn't mean we have no part to play. (Rom. 6:1-4)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
