Woman Aborts Child To Help Save the Planet <<--LINK

Sunday, November 25, 2007

Giving birth is a burden on the world. This is according to British born, Toni Vernelli, 35, who had an abortion 10 years ago to ensure her carbon footprint would be kept to a minimum, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported Sunday.

Vernelli -- who works for an environmental charity -- was later sterilized to help "protect the planet", the Mail reported.

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," Vernelli told the Daily Mail, adding she believes bringing new life into the world only adds to the problem.

The Mail also reported that Sara Irving, 31, also underwent sterilization to because she felt "a baby would pollute the planet".

One of the most loving Christian families I ever met had 10 children..

Their quiver was full and the love flowed like water...

Psa 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Psa 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Psa 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

How very sad to see the world turned upside down.. :24:

What's selfish is her decision not to use some form of birth control that didn't involve killing a growing baby...

I watched a science program that tried to define what makes us "human" and why we are different from the other animals.

At the very end, the documentor made an interesting comment: what makes us different is that we are the only species to actually go aganst our biology! That is, the biological make-up of all living things is to reproduce, to pass on their genes. Yet humans are choosing to not reproduce, to not pass on their genes, to de-popolate the species rather than increase it.

Isn't that odd?

So a family decides to not have children? Last time I knew it was each individual's right to have OR to not have kids. I thank goodness for the people who don't have children, contributing to the opportunity for the children who are being had (which I also thank goodness for)! Anyway, I'm sure you understand exponential growth?

It's any person's right to want or not want children. I have not problem with that. If a woman wants to have her tubes tied or a man wants to have a vasectomy to prevent them from procreating, great. Freak freely, I say. But when you attach a ridiculous politically motivated statement behind that and try to claim that your doing the planet a favor, well that's just inane. The fact is, even if a significant number of these "enviro-nazis" sterilized themselves, they would not be significantly decreasing the advance of "global warming." besides, children are by nature "green." They don't drive cars, don't use energy, and they don't produce tons of garbage like adults do.

Almost every major life-concerning decision has moral consequences.

And how do you know that "reciprocal altruism isn't the innate quality which the "man in the sky" built into His creation?

You don't. As an evolutionist you will almost always view the natural world differently than creationists.

But then of course the subject of morality is not the issue in this thread, is it?

:noidea:

We don't really "go against our biology" as the documenter may have stated, in fact we still are all subject to our very animal nature.

Subject to? Prone to - maybe, but do you seriously believe you are controlled by your "animal nature"? Do you believe you have no choice in what you do with your urges?

Case in point, have you ever heard of a horse jumping in cold water to supress his sexual hormone stimulations? (But yet I have heard of men "taking a cold shower.")

Every normal human has sexual desire, especially upon reaching puberty. It's this desire or lust which acts as the means of spurring us to engage in romantic relationships, and in sexual activities, ultimately resulting in reproduction.

So, a wife to you is nothing more than a sex object? :noidea: Is that all that marriage is about to you?

We have reached a level of intelligence in which we understand the causes and effects of our actions as well as the underlying anatomy and physiology of how it all works.

But you miss the point of what was said.

Evolutionary biology speaks often of advancing your species. This documentor's point - for whatever reason you want to attribute it - was that human beings can choose to go against evolutionary biology, and many in our modern society are doing so.

But this goes beyond choosing not to reproduce. He went on to say that we have the power to wipe out our own species. Yes, altruistic individuals, such as yourself, ascribe to the betterment of humanity in these decisions that we make. Yet not all human beings have the greater humanity on their mind. I submit the daily headlines as evidence of this. (If I have to read one more "child found dead" story, I'm going to puke!).

With this knowledge we've been able to control the outcome of the activities we are biologically wired for, without compromising the fun nature allowed us in engaging these activities.

Control the outcome? Manipulate, maybe - but I doubt we have the outcomes under our thumbs. Especially on the emotional level (but that's another subject).

And is it really all about sex for you? :P

Reproduction is the goal of our genes, since it is only by passing themselves on through generations that they continue to thrive, but as individual organisms we don't live on, and as an intelligent species, with the knowledge of that, we can consciously decide whether or not we want to add to the numbers in an increasing population stuck on a unchanging sized chunk of rock.

Which is the point!

We have the ability and the choice to go against our genes!

Also, one is not depopulating the species by not reproducing, they just aren't populating it further.

No, but crime and warfare do just that.

Sexuality has moral consequences? Like ... the consequence of making a baby?

Like wrecking a marriage.

Here's a question.

How would you like to be best buds with your wife's ex-boyfriend (the one she first gave herself away to?).

Or how would you like her still being best buds with him?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
