And for what reason did we bring "innocent" people from Afghanistan to Cuba? I have no reason to believe they are innocent and neither do you. I think you only want to paint them as innocent to make Bush and/or America look like the criminals.

So instead, I will pray for justice. The innocent should not have to suffer the wicked. Anyone who thinks 911 was a good thing is just as guilty as Osama himself. We are not doing God's will by releasing murderers

There are so many inconsistencies. Scripture does say "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", well if "pulling their fingernails out and poured gasoline down their throats" is what you want to do unto others, you must mean that you really want it to be done to you too. Afterall the CIA's definition (or lack thereof) of a "terrorist" is so loose that one day you - yourself - could be accused of being a terrorist and sent to Guantanamo Bay. So literally, "there but for the grace of God, go you".

I would not have called myself a liberal (politically) but if your definition of a liberal is to see torture for what it is, I think I'll become a liberal.

I think "the Lorax" has a point about you having lost your way, along with a great deal of others too. I would never have thought that torture was a Christian thing to do.

Destroying tapes, memos, and other "secret" documents is routine, after a certain duration. I agree, this is much, way much, ado over nothing.

The trouble with this theory is that "a certain duration" is not normally only three years. And it is clearly destroying evidence of torture!

To quote from the article: ""It is a serious offense to destroy evidence of what may have been a crime scene".

Arrogance, lying and corruption is NOT "nothing"!

You're right, sometimes it's 3 months, 8 months or 12 years. It all depends on the situation; are we at war, is it a crime scene, does it involve people who are already dead, etc. However, what I stated is not a theory, it is standard operating procedure. In fact, there are people who work full time destroying these types of documents.

As was stated, there is NO crime scene involved.

This is the kind of story that gets traction when the general public learns how the inner workings of government works; there isn't always a conspiracy going on.

We bring terror suspects to Cuba. They are not all guilty. Over 420 prisoners have been released.

I am American. I want justice. Justice is not obtained by indefinite imprisonment without charges. That's a war crime, according to standards WE agreed to.

Sure I believe the Bible. I just have a problem with your interpretation of some of it. There is no way that I will ever believe that God gave "authority" to any mortal man whatsoever.

You can twist scripture to "justify" anything, but plainly: Torture is wrong, immoral and utterly horrible. You really cannot deny that. Jesus was tortured, but never condoned it. Imagine what sort of a world we'd have if he had done so.

You are missing the big picture. Look up the definition of torture and see if waterboarding, sleep deprivation or loud music falls into that category.

But, who was it that said "whoever controls the language controls the debate", what we have here, specifically on this subject, is people trying to take control of our language and redefine torture to try and control this debate. It's playing semantics and is childish. If you can get away with changing the language to fit your argument, perhaps I will start calling blue orange and orange pink and pink blue etc.

Rational people do not redefine vocabulary to win debates, they use the tools they have and come up with a good argument, they don't change the rules to fit their agenda.

If you continue to try and redefine torture or any other english words to put us rational people at a disadvantage, I won't be the last person to ignore you completely.

Keep it up and you won't have anyone interested in playing with you.
