It gets me down from time to time. I had a lot of dental work done this year, and as a result, I have a gap between my teeth. I am yet to have this fixed, but when I can afford it. It's not that noticeable but I have been advised to get it filled in. She always draws attention to it. Then she draws attention to a small bump I have on my nose. I don't like my nose that much, but it's not that bad. Then she remarks about my hair as well. If it's not my teeth, then it's my hair, or my skin or my nose. Most of my friends say I am attractive, but she is the only one that picks fault with me. At my age(41) I'm not particulary fussed about my appearance as I used to be but I don't like how she draws attention to my faults. I am neat, clean and tidy and believe that my heart is the most attractive thing about myself. What should I do? I want to continue the friendship with her as she is my sister in the Lord thanks. I think you should have a talk with her. She may not realize that it hurts you so much or she might think that "put-downs" are funny (they aren't). This would hurt anyone! Just try to do it in love so you can save the friendship. <>< ><> Nathele

A friend? She must have some real issues going on within herself to spend so much time in tearing other Christ followers down rather than building them up. Pray for her! I'll add my two cents, although what I will say has been said. It sounds to me like her relationship with The Father is not right. Ignore her comments, or think of them as a cry for help, and pray for her. Since you consider her your friend, her heart relationship with Jesus should foremost in your mind. I have a relationship in my life much like this. And I know that it is not ME, it is the person and their relationship to the LORD that is lacking. The closer to the LORD I become, the less these comments bother me, and the more I pray for this person the better their relationship with God has become. Prayer is always a win ~ win situation!
