John:

30He must increase, but I must decrease.

31He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

Pride chokes the Word, chokes growth/spiritual fruits, spreads contention and makes for a bad witness.... And is something we've all been guilty of. It creeps in, it is sneaky, a thief that steals glory from God and is something that requires regular self examination... like weeding a garden. I was reading through some bible lessons on this recently and thought I'd share...

LOOK AT ME!

I'm such a neat, important guy

My prideful spirit cries

God really got a deal with me

(Oh, what a pack of lies!)

All God got when He got me

Was a mountainful of sin

A closet full of rebellion

Just ready to strike again

God didn't get a bargain, no!

That's Satan's phony song

God got a box of weakness

So we could see Him strong!

And all our lives we seem to think

That surely God must know

That we and He together, wow!

We'll put on quite a show!

Look at me! We clamor

Look at all I've done!

And while the world is gaping

They never see God's Son

Listen to me ... we holler

We simply must be heard

And while they're hearing our voice

They never hear the Lord!

Let me win ... compare

Pride Strong's Greek # 5244- Showing one's self above others, despising others, or even treating them with contempt, an overweening estimate of one's means, or merits.

Pride Strong's Greek # 5187- Render insolent, blind in conceit and pride, foolish, or stupid in the wisdom and understanding of the word of God.

Those who say that they have free-will make the word of God have no effect upon them, this is because they have learned this by men's tradition (Mk 7:11 & 13). Don't you remember that Jesus warns us (to stay away from) the doctrine of the Pharisees?? (Math 16:11-12) Believers who are under these (popular religious leaders of today) are into the evil things of pride, foolishness, (ignorance of the word of God), deceit, and covetousness. These evil things cause them to be defiled (Mk 7:21-23).

Condemnation- Strong's Greek # 2920- The present danger of judgment, and sentence of punishment.

Whosoever is angry with their brother/sister without a cause is in danger of judgment, and hell fire (Math 5:22); These believers moved themselves into John 3:16 (because they are under a false teacher), which is against God working the truth into us, so that it's light (of this knowledge) could come out of us (Jn 3:21) For this wisdom is only justified by it's children (Math 11:19).

I think both these definitions ''pride'' and ''condemnation'' just by reading your post sound like they are referring to you.

#1 pride, you are showing yourself above others, despising them, even showing them contempt.

#2 condemnation,you are angry without a cause.

Because people believe they have been given free will by God is no reason for you to verbally assault them as you have.

You don't have a problem with me, YOU have a problem with the SCRIPTURES. Don't shoot the messenger, it's not MY message. It seems obvious by your response that YOU are in Pride because you are:

blind in conceit and pride, foolish, or stupid in the wisdom and understanding of the word of God.

Strong's Greek # 5187-

You just proved that every thing I said about you was correct.

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Psalm 13:10 Pride only breeds quarrels,

but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

A Biblical study of Pride is one of the more important studies Believers could do. :emot-handshake:

Well done!

Ezekial 28:17 Your heart became proud

on account of your beauty,

and you corrupted your wisdom

because of your splendor.

So I threw you to the earth;

I made a spectacle of you before kings.

Pride can also be a group of lions.

1 Peter 5

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Be careful of pride...the roaring lion is seeking.

Being a timmid and shy person is being prideful...always thinking what the other person is thinking of you..."What are they thinking of ME? What would they think of ME if I said or did that? ME, ME, ME, ME...sound prideful dosn't it?

Walking in Victory,

J

Also acting like a know it all don't get you very far either!

Better to just pray "God cut me down to size" and save yourself the embarrassment. He always accomodates.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
