I heard a song that someone posted here yesterday about what Christ does for people today and what He did for us when He was crucified...the moment I heard "He died on a Friday" I turned the song off. It may not be a big deal for some people not to know the truth about it, but it is to me...I couldn't even give a critique of the song except to say nice because of it. Another thing that bothered me about it is that the poster of this song speaks constantly about false teaching and the horror of it, but I don't know they were even aware of what the song or the video really portayed. I don't want to be offensive you know? But words are important they are what show truth verses lie, light verses dark.

Shalom Poster,

Oh, you are a hoot dear. This is why I've been ignoring your posts of late and I guess I need to go back to doing so.

"The poster" needs to disguise your condemnation and false accusations better!!  :42::emot-crying: And "the poster"all the time talking about acceptance and grace!

The reason I posted the video is because it has wonderful redeeming qualities and is a HUGE blessing from a salvation standpoint, And Yes, I believe they are mistaken about the Friday thing, *DUH, of course I was aware* BUT, the day He died is not an essential to salvation, (the FACT He died is) so in these circumstances, we allow GRACE of beliefs. Something "the poster" might consider.

There are people who call Resurrection "Easter" and who believe Jesus was crucified on Friday. We can share the truth with them, but in the end, it is NOT an essential of salvation and there is no wisdom in throwing out the baby with the bathwater. It's a shame "the poster" could not see the wonderful ministry and blessing in the video because "the poster" got offended by the use of "Friday." "The poster" missed out on the deeper message.

Vickilynn it was not a personal attack on YOU, you didn't write the song, I'm assuming you didn't perform it either...I was merely speaking of what it did to me when I heard it....and being the mature Christian woman that you say you are I don't understand why you wouldn't appreciate someone not wanting to listen to untruth's about our Savior, even the "minor" errors such as the day He was crucified...if we know the truth then we should not spread the lies nor should we listen to them, regardless of how small they may appear.

God bless you Vickilynn...

Shalom Jackie,

Your words ARE a personal attack on me, too bad you can't see in the mirror as well as you suppose you see others' flaws:

Another thing that bothered me about it is that the poster of this song speaks constantly about false teaching and the horror of it, but I don't know they were even aware of what the song or the video really portayed.

...and being the mature Christian woman that you say you are ...

This is why I am going back to ignoring your posts. So, please don't bait me any more. I'm don't appreciate the constant personal false accusations and attacks on my integrity.

God bless you Vickilynn...

He does, mightily! I pray He blesses you as well Jackie. Shalom.

This thread speaks to the following: religious tradition vs. biblical prophecy for the first coming of Christ and our future salvation....

Was Jesus crucified on Friday?

Was he resurrected on Sunday morning?

How would Jesus answer?

What was Christ

Most United Methodists are aware that one of our practices is the use of unfermented juice of the grape for Holy Communion. While some other Protestant bodies share this practice, the possibility of the practice goes back to the late 19th century and a Methodist dentist named Thomas Bramwell Welch. (See http://www.welchs.com/company/company_history.html.) Apparently Welch had scruples about the use of wine and had heard of Louis Pasteur's process of pasteurization of milk. Welch was successful in applying the process to grape juice, and he began to use it in his church, where he was a Communion steward.

His son, Dr. Charles Welch, was an enterprising Methodist layman (a dentist, like his father) from southern New Jersey. He marketed the pasteurized grape juice to temperance-minded evangelical Protestants as authentic biblical "wine." As word spread and as the temperance movement grew among evangelical Protestant churches, Welch left dentistry and produced Welch's Grape Juice commercially.

The impact of the temperance movement and the availability of the "unfermented juice of the grape" can traced in the Book of Discipline and actions of the General Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Church of the United Brethren.

Methodist Episcopal Church

  • The 1864 General Conference on temperance "recommends that in all cases the pure juice of the grape be used in the celebration of the Lord's Supper."
  • The 1872 General Conference reaffirms its recommendation of 1864.
  • The 1876 permissive rubric based on 1864 recommendation is added at the head of Ritual for Holy Communion.
  • In 1880, the General Conference added a semi-mandatory rubric "let none but the pure juice of the grape be used in administering the Lord's Supper, whenever practicable."
  • In 1916, the General Conference adopted a mandatory rubric (i.e., "whenever practicable" was deleted).
  • The 1964 Book of Worship rubric is emphatic: "The pure, unfermented juice of the grape shall be used." Note that the current ritual texts and rubrics in our Hymnal and Book of Worship do not explicitly define what form of the fruit of the grape shall be used. The United Methodist Book of Worship does recognize that .. .
    • the historic and ecumenical practice has been the use of wine
    • the use of the unfermented grape juice by The United Methodist Church and its predecessors is an expression of pastoral concern for recovering alcoholics, enables the participation of children and youth, and supports the church's witness of abstinence. (See the 1964 Book of Worship, page 28.)

Jesus ate unleavened bread at the passover and drank wine, but many denoms use goofy counterfeits like crackers and grape juice at the Lord's supper.

I was merely responding the Adarian's post. :emot-hug:

Np. Funny thing is that when you asked me I wondered if I had lost my mind for a bit because I couldn't find Adarian's post. :emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
