Trusting in the Lord

I received this e-mail from a friend:

I remembered when I worked in a hospital on the war zone in Zimbabwe in the 70s. I had never been exposed to such pain, agony, suffering and grief in civilian life. At times, fear of attack by terrorists would overwhelm and torment me, but as soon as another casualty came in and we started working on that wounded person, the fear would leave. The torment would leave as we watched many of the wounded begin to heal. However, the death of others was hard to comprehend.

I also remembered the time I was talking in a telephone call box in Houston Station in London , England . I was not yet saved but I knew that God was impressing me to put the phone down immediately and RUN out of the station. I did just that and by the time I reached the street, the glass front wall of the station exploded and thick sharp glass flew everywhere.

I was safe. I remember looking up and saying, "Lord God, you really did warn me. Thank you! But what about all those other bleeding people lying around?" Later we heard that the IRA had bombed the station.

A Jewish woman in a cab told us NOT to go to the Wailing Wall the evening we arrived in Jerusalem . It was 6.50pm and it would take us 10 minutes to walk to the wall. She said, "The wall has been there 2000 years. It will be there tomorrow." Allyn and I agreed.

The next morning, people were crying in the hotel. A terrorist had thrown a bomb into the crowd at the Wailing Wall at 7.00pm. Two people were killed and sixty were wounded. We would have been there at exactly that time. We joined those who were praying in Hebrew and we thanked God for His warning and for our protection. We decided to "stay under the cloud" for the next three weeks that we were in Israel and we were safe.

As we thank God for His protection over our lives, let us be mindful to pray for those who still grieve over the sudden loss of loved ones.

I thank God that He has kept the terrorist battle off the soil of this great country. I pray that the next President will be righteous and will daily bow his knee to God, so that his steps can be ordered by the Lord.

Let us bless President Bush during the remainder of his presidency. We thank God that he is a man of faith. We declare that "the heart of the King is in the hand of the Lord". We declare that the next President will allow the Wisdom of the Lord to lead and guide his heart and mind. "Please help us hear Your voice and obey Your instructions immediately, Lord, and please protect us from disaster, in Jesus' Name, Amen."
