That "rest" is acheived here in our lifetime and not after in death.

This "rest" is not heaven nor anything given to us after death.

You believe today and get paid today NOT when you die.

So what is it that we are resting from?

What do we get from this rest?

What are the rewards and benefits of receiving this rest while we're still here on earth?

i invite you to read Psalm 95..it's not that long.

after you read that then start taking into weight some Hebrew passages:

Hebrews 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Hebres 4:9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

You grow, study, take-in doctrine to understand why God does the thnigs He does. To understand what

pleases Him with fruit you present. So you can hit cruise control when youve

reached spiritual maturity.

The more you grow the more obedient you are....the topic in this Hebrew passages are disobedience.

If you have a study bible you can see that "unbelief" is "disobedience" in most cases. One becomes

more obedient the more doctrine they understand and exercise it. Tsth kept bolding "unbelief" when the

translation is "disobedience" so she's connects scripture by word similarities instead of meaning.

i started to read your response and dont understand that after decades of studying you

havent placed some simple pieces together.

you do know that EVERYONE saved will receive "heavenly" rewards for their deeds right?

No it is not salvation because salvation is what qualified you to receive rewards.

Anyone saved will be eligible and all that are not saved will not.

youre quoting Math 16:24-27 and place in bold "rewards." So im thinking that you think the "reward" is slavation?

I think Mat 20 describes the benefit of reward, who will receive and how much. ....from this parable it appears that there is no differentiation of who came first and how much work they performed. I think......

Mat 20:1 "FOR the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

Mat 20:2 "Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

Mat 20:3 "And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

Mat 20:4 "and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.

Mat 20:5 "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.

Mat 20:6 "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle,[fn1] and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?'

Mat 20:7 "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.'[fn2]

Mat 20:8 "So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.'

Mat 20:9 "And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius.

Mat 20:10 "But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received

each a denarius.

Mat 20:11 "And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner,

Mat 20:12 "saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.'

Mat 20:13 "But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?

Mat 20:14 'Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you.

Mat 20:15 'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'

Mat 20:16 "So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."[fn3]

So, you're considering diligently seeking "a work" to earn salvation OR not worthwhile at all?

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

How do YOU view works, exrockstar? Are they a component AT ALL in salvation, as in a part of YOUR salvation? Or could you do absolutely nothing to respond to God's Word, and still be saved?

My question is: Is any response necessary at all? And why would you view responding to God and His Commands as a "works salvation", when I believe that it is a response of believing/love/obedience?

I do not understand your contention?

In His Love,

Suzanne

Well, I got off-track from the OP too!

I REALLY wish we/I would focus on the passages. That is the REAL issue/topic.

Oh well. Maybe someone can.

let me get this straight...you quoted scriptures out of context then got corrected of your error.

all this to support your "works for alvation" belief. now you can still believe what you want but

it's wonderful how you served an interpretation and then it got served right back to you and

now im being asked questions. lol

yes...lets go back to the topic at hand.

I don't know if you can lose belief, if you really believed completely the first time around.

You can get away from it. Stray from the path so to speak.

Can go off pursuing your own thoughts and get kinda lost in that.

Can let your emotions get in the way of things and think you're too far away to come back.

We can get lost like the little sheep the shepherd went looking for.

But if we throw our doubts and cares to the wind, and simply decide to believe something, it's easy.

We can just find reasons to believe instead of reasons to doubt.

Better to look at life as one small miracle at a time instead of whatever we wish or want it to be that it isn't.

But, what do we glean from the passages that I posted? Is the warning for us? Or are we thinking we are exempt, because that is what I am gathering from exrockstar. I want to know, what do those passages convey?

But we already have direct passages about the role of works and salvation, we don't need to infer.

Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
