Wrong. I too use to think this way. What james is saying is what kind of faith is this if you treat your brother this way. To think works goes hand and hand with your faith in Christ is to add to Christ. It does seem that works is getting more print than Jesus. In my humble opinion, the word works and Jesus don't belong on the same line, paragraph or page.

What do you mean wrong?

Read this......pay attention.

Matthew 25

33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand,

you do know that youre quoting scripture of Christs' return right?

you kinda skipped key scripture that creates the setting for the time and place.

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.

if you believe in tribulations you would see that.....ah you know...nevermind.

Not quoting verse 31 means what? The rest of what was quoted means nothing?

The topic of that post was "works". What I posted spoke of judgement concerning "works".

But thanks for putting it out there.....and as long as you're here, would mind replying to this...

the reason i say "enter rest" is critical is because this is something we all "want to enter." this is a point in life where

youve reached spiritual maturity and know God is taking care of you.

we make the effort through study and spiritual growth that we will enter a time of peace where we are worry-free. this

"entering" is the same as the Jews entering the promise land (the land of milk and honey) where they are able to rest and enjoy the fruits of the land.

This belief is having faith that God will provide THROUGH THICK AND THIN and we are asked to reach for it so we can "rest."

Where does it say one has to reach a certain level of knowledge in the Word before God starts providing for us?

Thanks......appreciate it. :)

I don't think it's about what "we do", but rather, about what "we don't do".

If we don't do/respond to the Words of Christ, then we are no better off than those in 1 Cor. 10/Heb. 3.

My point is, that our belief must be followed by obedience to His Word, or else we really don't believe. Can you believe WITHOUT His Word? Can people be believing Christians, (1) without God's Word (2) without obeying/responding to God's Word?

I don't think so, because then we are just as those in the passage of 1 Cor. 10. Yet, I would venture to guess that this is EXACTLY what most of society is trying to do..........believe without obeying.

(Please go back and read the passages, as this is what this whole discussion was supposed to be about.)

In His Love,

Suzanne

God will provide for all those that accept Christ as their saviour. However, the more you study the more

you understand how you can receive blessings. (james 23 -25) So in a sense there is a benefit when growing.

you want and example of an average guy reaching spiritual maturity? read the book of Job. let me know how that turns out for you.

James 1

23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one

You are right.......it all comes down to "obedience" to the Word.

If one says they believe, but does not obey the teachings of the Word....what are they believing in?

If I say I have faith, but neglect the Will of the Father.....what am I being faithful in?

Job was a church guy? lol

5b. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.

this "church guy" did burnt offerings at his home in behalf of his family regularly. meaning growth. meaning he's done this more than once that

in time he's made it part of his daily walk. this is growth.

Job 2:3bThere is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason."

obedience and growth.....

you may have to invite me to your bible study so i can see what is it you talk about.

The goal is not to receive blessings.....the goal is to do the Will of the Father. Blessings are rewards for staying in obedience to the Word. Obedience to the Word is a way of life that does not end until we take our last breath. There is never a time when we can just sit back and "cruise" through life. Growing in knowledge of the Word is a constant endeavor. It never ends. We will never know everything there is to know.

did i say the "goal is to receive blessing" where did i say that. how do you do the "will of the Father?"

Through study that is how.

but lemme guess...you hear voices that tell you what to do right? you live life through feelings? nevermind doctrine

but follow that sensation.

it's a cause and effect equation. it's pretty simple.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
