TOday, quite to my surprise, one of my friends showed me this drug. She took 14 pills!!!!!!! SHe was as high as a kite on a windy April day at the beach. I am so worried about the kids here at my school. Sex, drugs, alochol party hearty.........

This is a main ingredient in cough syrup and cold pills. It has become in fashion among teens to take extremely high doses of it (thus the 14 pills) to get high. It is very, very deadly. There have been numerous deaths just here in my state alone (Michigan).

If this person is truly a friend of yours, you need to have a talk with her, and do some heavy praying for her.

I think Nightline did an expose on this a few months ago. Kids are taking extremely high doses of this cough medicine (It comes in a red package). This stuff is deadly! Apparently they are targeting a particular product which sells caough medicine in a purple, yellow, and red package. The kids are taking the stuff in the red package in high doses. But the others, if taken at the same dossage, will kill you. Numerous kids have died by mistakenly stealing the wrong box (ie. the purple one). BTW: They are stealing this drug from the stores, of course.

I just went to that website you gave and man, how scary. Cough syrup. pretty soon they will find something in anything. It is getting way out of hand. What are we as parents and family, and friends doing that is not fulfilling our kids needs that they have to OD on cough syrup and puke their brains out to feel good. How dissappointing. I will keep my eyes open to see if I can learn more about this. Thanks for the info.

Have you seen the commercials that are on now about kids helping to talk to their friends about drugs? There was one that particularily got to me. It is of this girl standing on a dock of a lake staring at the water, then you see her friend drowning and she is standing their thinking about it. The narrator asks, " Would you just sit and watch your friend drown if front of your eyes? They are! Say something, it could save their life."

It is up to you, but I say say something, slip a note into her bag, call her at home, ask if you can sit down away from everything and everyone. Ask her what you can do to help her feel better to where she doesn't have to turn to drugs.

i'll go one further than JP. you need to rat her out. i know it's an uncomfortable thing to do, but it may save her life. my oldest daughter, now 18, had two friends when she was about your age that were not afraid to rat her out if they thought she was doing something that could cause her harm. well i can't say they weren't afraid, but i can say they were more afraid of her dying than of her getting mad at them and never speaking to them again.

because of those two friends, my daughter is alive today. and ya know what? after her initial anger, she got over it and continued her friendship with them both... even now.

please beth, rat her out. even if she never speaks to you again, at least you will know she's alive to make that choice!

I haven't ratted her out. we aren't even friends really. I told some other students and we are gonna watch out for her. IF she is high at school again, then we will report her.

I have talked to her. I sent her some info of Jp's site.

I hope not popping pills is going to be easy.....once you do it for a while, it is exremely hard to stop. A lot of people are thinking about you, and I pray that you can overcome all the stuff that is hindering you. The things that are making you want to get high in the first place, the addiction itself as well as any other thing. My heart goes out to you, not in sympathy, but in concern and experience. I am totally glad I didn't fall in to drugs, sex, and alcohol when I was searching for answers, and when I hated everything and everyone.

Just know that :

God can help you through this, through anything.

That people like you, people follow you, and if you turn that to something good, you could be a powerful witness for Christ. 

People trust you, and look up to you and you are a wonderful and awesome person.

I'll be praying for you girl. I only hope that you aren't to deep into pot, or DMX or whatever else you might be doing to wake up, and to realize how dangerous it is, and that we value your life a lot more than some drug.

Will ya'll please join with me for praying for her?? Her name is Taylor. There is this clique of girls and all they ever talk about is how much sex they have had, as well as alcohol, and pot. I don't know if these kids are serious, but after seeing Taylor high, I am almost sure they aren't just talking.

My school is BrewTech.

The groups names are: Talor, Cameron, Tiffany, Ashley, and I am postivie that there are others.

I cannot pray for them alone, I ask that you pray for my school by name, and pray for these group of girls, That they cannot only see Christ's light before it is too late, but also the light about the drugs and all the other worldy sins they are indulging in.
