LadyC do you at least have a link for the cases? Just curious as I would like to do some research on it.

cerran, your local library probably has a copy of the book. the book has an extensive bibliography in it that lists all the information you need to do the research on them. the author is david limbaugh, the title is Persecution: how liberals are waging war against christianity.

Treading dangerous ground here, because it calls for a lot of broad generalizations. IMHO :D

I would like very much to vote for a good solid Christian. One that I felt I could be assured of doing the Lord's will. But it ain't going to happen folks. The problem is the divisiveness that is in the block of voting Christians. IF we were able to come to agreement amongst ourselves as to abortion, et al, THEN perhaps we might have an effect.

I agree Dad, in fact I agree with your whole post :D

Just to point out that the original pledge of allegance didn't have the phrase "Under God" in it. I don't disagree with it being there but too many people use this as pointing out we are moving away from god, I agree it's a symptom but it's not like it was there from the creation of the pledge. I have a really old boy scout manual from the 1920's and the pledge is in there and the phrase isn't there.

Our forefathers believed religion shouldn't play a role in making governmental decisions, but they didn't believe God should be 100% seperated from a public forum either. People have taken things to extremes.

Cerran, I'm well aware that the phrase "Under God" was not part of the original pledge of allegiance. But congress did install it in the 1950's. My point is, the liberals, that we're talking about here are wanting it removed. That should be enough in itself to scare you!! :oww:

You say that "Our forefathers believed religion shouldn't play a role in making governmental decisions". This is absolutely untrue. Our forefathers relied on prayer and divine guidance to make governmental decisions.

Even today with a large anti-GOD LIBERAL base in the U.S. Congress, sessions of Congress are still opened with prayer for wisdom and guidance and making decisions that affect everyone. I've said this before, but I'm saying it again.

Please show me an example. I won't deny that some of the founding fathers were christians but religion and the church did not have direct influence in the government.

Please list who is anti-God. While I do not agree with the values of a lot of our government, all Liberals are not Anti God. Seperation of Church and state has been taken too far I agree, but rather than sit here and complain about it try and do something to change it. I'm trying to get a picture on what you think is anti-god and Liberal so give me an idea.

it would be too long a list to name all the liberals (Dems and Republicans) in Congress who are anti-god.

It would be much easier to name those who are not.

On the Democratic side there are a few men who seem to be righteous like Zell Miller, Evan Bayh, and Joe Liberman. Hmm...can't think of another more though I can name most of the Democrats you would recognize.

On the Republican side the liberals are all from the Northeast.

We have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion ... Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

river,

aug. 26, 1999, students on a school campus gathered around the flagpole, were confronted by the police threatening jail time if they handed out any Bibles.

seminole high school, in sanford florida, has several choirs, including a gospel choir (strictly voluntary). the choir was asked to perform at the first anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. the school not only forbade the choir from performing, and even forbade any of the members from singing at the event individually, because it was being held at a church. the choir, by the way, was also prohibited from praying or even holding a moment of silence prior to any practice sessions.

motivational speaker jaroy carpenter was scheduled to give a talk to middle school students in montana to help students cope with a number of teen suicides and deaths that had recently occurred. the school board rescinded the invitation because someone complained that the man was a christian, even though carpenter's assembly was to be secular in nature.

in 2002, stanford university denied the head coaching job to ron brown because he was a christian. the asst. athletic director said that "it wasn't a determining factor, but had to be considered". however, he reportedly told the applicant that "he did not believe that my christian convictions would mesh well with that university".

1997, US district judge ira dement issued an injunction prohibiting the school from permitting any prayer or devotional speachthat was uttered aloud, by students or anyone else, voluntary or not, at any school event including graduation. the court appointed an attorney to serve as a "prayer monitor" to oversee events to make sure the order was carried out. as a result of 'civil disobedience', the school was fined over $62,000 for failing to prevent all students from praying or talking about Jesus.

this one hits close to home because i remember it. i used to live in arlington tx, and knew the son of police chief david kunkle. the wonderful chief of police there fired a sergeant on the police force for insubordination... because he wore a cross on his lapel, which kunkle had forbidden because it could be "offensive". yet this same police chief permitted and encouraged officers to wear mexican flag pins, union pins, and other expressions of culture, political affiliation, and religions.

people getting fired, high school kids being threatened with jail, schools being fined because students voluntarily pray or mention Jesus, how is this not persecution?

river, if you want more examples, please go pick up a copy of the book i suggested. don't go refuse to read it just because it is written by a conservative.... it wouldn't matter WHO wrote the book, the documentation and court cases cited would still be the same. ok?

by the way... just a little personal trivia. i was once fired from a job for talking about God. another employee came into my work station, knowing that i was a christian, and asked me a question regarding the Bible. i was overheard by the owner of the company. they denied that it had anything to do with my discussing scripture, but i know this was a lie to prevent a lawsuit, because the day before i'd been offered a promotion for my outstanding work.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
