Sinless?

Would Jesus ask us to do something we could not do??? Why did he tell the lame man to go and sin no more if he knew he was incapable of doing so? I seen in one of the threads that if we say that we are without sin then we equate ourselves with God, true and not true, you must not understand in the book of John where we abide in Him and He abides in us, and when the Father will make His abode with us? Do you believe that God resides in you? How can that Spirit that is in you sin? What was the gift of the Holy Spirit? It is the grace of God expressed. Amen

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Hear! Hear! Paul tells us "the old man is INDEED dead" and tells us that we are to 'reckon yourselves INDEED dead to sin, but alive to righteousness.'

You are aware that sins of omission are just as much sin as sins of commission right ? Think about it....and read Luke 18:18-29 while you're at it.

I've said my bit on this in the other thread and will give others a chance to share their thoughts ( it's pretty obvious how I feel I think ).

In His service,

Bob

I think Jesus meant quit your lifestyle of sin.

Theres a big difference in slipping and getting back up, and making sin a practice.

We can split hairs over it but common sense has to play into how you interpret scripture also.

God abides in me but there is also a sin nature that abides in me also.

It came into play at the fall of man, we have to put off the old man and put on the new.

Didn't Paul share the intimacy of his own problems in Romans 7:19-25?

"For the good that I wish, I do not do,but I practice the very evil that I do not wish. But if I am doing the very thing I do not wish, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me"....

Look at the scripture talking about love, in Cor. then look at the last part of the chapter, when I became a man I. When we let the love of God into our heart we become a man, a grown up, a mature believer, we follow Christ whereever He goes, Revelation is an example of what I am saying Revelation 14:1-5 The 144,000, not defiled with women, for they were virgins, they follow the lamb whereever he goes, these were redeemed from among men, being first fruits unto God, and to The Lamb, 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

James shows this is possible also James 3:2 "...If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

That means words, and actions, following God, and The Lamb.

Meditate on these Scriptures, ask The Holy Spirit to interpret them to your heart, and be blessed.

I'd meditate on the words of our Lord when He taught us how to pray....

Luke 11

1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

And forgive us our sins....why would Jesus teach us to pray like that ? Tell me something, when a sinless person prays, how does he start out ?

Like the Pharisee -

Luke 18:11-12

11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

....or like the tax collector -

Luke 18:13

13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

What does Jesus have to say about the two ? Let's see....

Luke 18:14

14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Seems clear folks....very clear.

And, as I've posted over and over again -

1 John 1:8-10

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Do we make Jesus out to be a liar if we claim we are without sin ? I believe so....

Blessings,

Bob

If you want to meditiate on prayer I would start with the 17th chapter of John, Jeus' prayer for all of us and know that Jesus' prayers are always answered, and He will come back for a pure spotless bride without SPOT OR WRINKLE. Hence the Scripture: Straight is the way and narrow the gate, and few that enter in, but broad is the way that leads to the pit, and many that enter there.]

There are many Scriptures that call us to holiness, righteousness, purity, and Godliness from Genesis to Revelation. And when Jesus tells us that we can do all the works He did and even greater how can we say we can't?

John 20:21

21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

(KJV)

2 Cor 4:11

11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

(KJV)

Eph 4:11-16

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

(KJV)

1 Pet 5:10

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

(KJV)

God can do this in us if we will first of all believe that He will, and then submit our wills to His will. We need to concentrate on seeking His presence more than we seek His hand.

No argument from me...however, His pure & spotless bride is because of His work, not ours....if we could accomplish this ourselves, Christ's death was in vain.

There are many Scriptures that call us to holiness, righteousness, purity, and Godliness from Genesis to Revelation. And when Jesus tells us that we can do all the works He did and even greater how can we say we can't?

Calling us to holiness & righteousness indeed! That's the baseline His Son! Of what merit is it to keep the law ? That's what's expected of us. What reward is there for keeping the law ? None! Do you receive a check in the mail from the Police Department because you obeyed the speed limit all month ? No, of course not....you are only doing what you are supposed to do ( right ? To speed is to break the law - and we are called to obey our earthly rulers...right ? See where I'm heading here ? ). What I'm getting at is Chirst's blood is what makes us perfect in the sight of God. If you say you don't sin, what value is Jesus to you now that you don't sin ?

Jesus knows we can't keep the law....that's what He is all about. Don't deceive yourself into thinking you don't sin.

I have to ask you this in all seriousness....do you firmly believe and hold to the fact that you are without sin ?

In His service,

Bob

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
