I'd say it's inappropriate, don't you?

The pastor's teenage daughters walk barefoot all through the church and sanctuary during the summer.

sorry but I dont see how it is inappropriate .. many people find hot weather very uncomfortable and find shoes very irritating. If they wore thin sandals ( we call them flip flops here but I know they are called by different names all over the world ) would that also be inapropriate  The only difference between them and bare feet is that the soles of your feet are protected.

Who cares. Didn't realize gathering together in the name of Christ had a required dress code.

I'm sure that Jesus went barefoot on occasion.

God cares what is on the inside, not so much about the outside. Let's review ...

Hebrews 10:19-25

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

If they can wear shoes all day in school, when they go to a restaurant or to the mall, they can certainly show some respect and wear them for an hour in church instead of looking like they're at the beach. It's even air conditioned inside.

Speaking for myself only, I can't really see why this constitutes such an issue for you.

As you say, people are required to maintain a certain dress code in everyday life. But what is wrong with 'kicking back' and just being yourself, or being comfortable, in church?

People are generally put under enormous pressure to conform in their day to day existence. As long as they are not showing any disrespect by going around barefoot, or offending anyone's sense of modesty or decorum, I wouldn't, myself, have any problem with it.

They are teenagers. Just kids. Life is too short to be taken up by such petty issues, in my opinion. This is not to make light of your concerns. It's just that it is something that I have never thought about, nor would I give it a second glance if I were confronted with such a scenario.

Have you or anyone else spoken to these teens, or their father, about this matter? And why does it bother you in the first place?

Does it really matter if someone wears shoes or not??? I thought Jesus said it was what was on the inside of a person that defiled not the outer. I have known many people who won't go to a church because of the dress code. What's a bare foot compared to a soul going to church? Seems like a minor point to me.
