Israel Air Force (IAF) war planes are practicing in Iraqi airspace and land on US airbases in the country as a preparation for a potential strike on Iran, sources in the Iraqi Defense Ministry told a local news network on Friday.

Slideshow: Pictures of the week The report, which was also carried by Iranian news outlets, claimed that recently massive IAF overnight presence was detected in several American held airbases.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the veracity of the report.

According to the sources, former military officers in the Anbar province said IAF jets arrive during the night from Jordanian airspace, enter Iraq's airspace and land on a runway near the city of Hadita. The sources estimated the jets were practicing for a raid on Iran's nuclear sites.

The sources also said the American bases in Iraq might serve as a platform for the IAF from which to attack Iran. If Israeli warplanes will take off from Iraq, they can reach Bushehr in five minutes - a "record time," the sources said.

After reports of a massive IAF exercise over the Mediterranean surfaced several weeks ago, an Israeli official told the times that the drill was "the dress rehearsal" for an attack on Iran's nuclear sites.

On Thursday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel was the "strongest country in the region." Sending a thinly veiled warning to Iran, Barak said Israel "has already proved it did not shy away in the past from acting when it fears its vital interests are at stake."

The US and Israel aren't the only countries that have a vested interest in a muzzled Iran.

We can be relatively certain that the U.S. will not act on it's own without international support/approval, however, if Israel acts on it's own the U.S. may very well be dragged into a war. Israel could do all the "attacking" while it leaves the U.S. to defend Israel. It's hard to say what they have planned. One thing seems relatively certain at this point. Iran seems eager for a fight and is unashamedly pursuing more powerful weapons in preparation for that war. Another thing Iran seems to be going out of it's way to do is to taunt and provoke it's enemies in hopes that they WILL attack. This seems to be an effort to draw the rest of the middle eastern nations into that war under the premise that the attackers were waging "jihad", and we know all too well how much Muslims love their Jihad.

Lol. I always heard that the Isreali Army doesnt practice. They just fight (defend) for there country. A training exercise for them is the real deal!!!

I know what with the Politically Correct Election going on that this might not sound right.

Yet............. I always thought there was something more to Iraq than meets the eye. The Objective always appeared to be Iran. They are infinitely more dangerous than Iraq ever was. Despite the fact that the Election Rhetoric of both Parties might lead you to believe otherwise. One side more so than the other.

Well Iraq would be a nice place to start an invasion into Iran. Not to mention the forces we have in Kuwait as well. Being right next door would also help "keep them in line". Other than that (I could just be having a brain fart) I cant see anything to connect the two unless we get friendly or use the whole we got rid of your enemy approach.

well from what i am hearing from my side of the world is this iran wants a fight and iran is right now going to get into israel face by what ever means to get them to act

america does not want israel to attac iran but i feel that america will step in if iran reacts

my main concern is russia and why is russia so keen to support iran

from what i saw on sbs world news and the footage they took it looks like iran has the neuclear weapons they want to use against israel

we need to pray that a pece full sullution is resolved other wise we are looking at world war three

what the iranian president said is foolish he is ussing school yard tactics that i use to use when wanting to pick a fight so its seen that i did not start the fight

israel has the strength to handle what ever iran throws at them and the soldiers are ready to fight

iran has also been practicing and firing off there neuclear weapons showing the world they are ready

this is what i was reading today concerning what is about to develop

i am no prophet or do i get prophetic dreams like some people do i dont even know why i was led to this verse in isaiah but i prayed when i was led to this verse over israel and over iran for peace and for the leaders to be able to come together and sort out their diffrences wher the enemy has no chance to whisper in their ears pushing for a war

satan wil be roaring like a lion pushing both sides to strike and we have a duty to our fellow brothers and sisters in israel

praying will prevent a war if we dont pray we have no one to blame but our selves and i feel the draft will come back in and many young men and older men will be called from all over the world

this is something i dont want happening

Iran does not want to be seen as the agressor in this and this is why they poke and prod it's enemies. It's more a war of ideals for them than it is of force. They don't even have to win, just pick a fight with the biggest "bully".
