I have a question. Is there an unforgivable sin? I've been thinking that God is full of mercy, grace, and love; however, I have wondered if there is such a thing that can't be forgiven.

tks.

Angelique,

See Matthew 12:21. Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost will not be forgiven among men. It is my firm belief that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost consists of drawing one's last breath while denying Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the ONE name given to man by which man may reach the Father.

There is only one unforgiveable sin, and that is "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit". However, Christians have debated exactly what that means. The general view (that I have come across) is that not accepting Jesus as Lord and saviour is "blasphemy against the HS". By turning away from Jesus we are turning away from God's love, and more importantly turning away from the gift of the Holy Spirit, hence it is the only unforgiveable sin.

that seems the most common answer, though I disagree. I'll give my own view another time, after a few responses maybe, or perhaps tomorrow when it's daytime ('tis late over here).

the only sin that cannot be forgiven is choosing continued separation from God and dying in that spiritual condition.

As for the issue of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit... A Christian cannot commit that sin. There is no NT basis for anyone to claim that a Christian can commit that sin, EVER.

And this is the record,

that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

The only sin mentioned in the bible as 'unforgiveable' is blasphemy against the holy spirit. To find out what that is you need to check the actual passage that it is mentioned in.

If you read the whole story in context - the pharisees were accusing jesus of doing his miracles through the power of satan. So they were called the holy spirit, a demonic spirit. Even though God was being glorified, people were being set free and the kingdom of God was amongst them - the pharisees were jealous of Jesus, and this was their response.

I don't believe that God would deliberatly judge someone who made a mistake in this area - but knowing full well that something was being done for the glory of God through the power of God, but calling it demonic anyway and trying to pull it down because of your own agenda - is I think what God was talking about and I can see why he would refuse to forgive it.

I really don't think you have to be concerned about anyone with this unpardenable sin. Hebrews does talk about once someone is enlightened, meaning they are a mature Christian...filled with the Holy Ghost (spake with toungues)...and they know that Jesus is the only way to salvation and they Love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strenth...God has given them revelation into His word and they are knowledgable on God's word, if this person totaly turns around and all of a sudden denies Christ and want's nothing to do with Christ anymore...Hebrews says in 6:4-6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame

If these people fall away...they need another Jesus to come down to sacrifice Himself for what they did because they have totally denied the sacrifice that has made them righteous in the first place. mind you these people are not decieved about the salvation of Jesus Christ...they know that He is the only way to salvation. This does not happen very often at all...I've only heard of one occurance and it was a pastors wife (a man of God was praying for her and God literally had to tell him to stop praying for her...she has commited the unpardinable sin, then God proceeded to show him Hebrews 6:4-6). Both of my sisters claimed to be a Christian once, they read the bible but they by far didn't fit the categories of Heb 6:4&5...they were just young and were deceived out of believing that Jesus is the only way. even though they professed to be Christians and yet denied Him later on in life...they can still come to repentance simply because they have really never tasted of the heavenly gift. Hope this clears things up.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
