I wanted to post that transdermal magnesium chloride is fantastic for helping muscle pain and spasms. You can search the name of mark sircus with transdermal magnesium chloride and find sites to read . I have been using for a couple of months now and do not want to do without it!

Why bother with a cream, though? Wouldn't it be easier and much more expedient to take magnesium in pill form? Thorne Research makes a cal-mag supplement in pharmacy grade that is 56% bio-available in less than 15 minutes.

Jeff, THANK YOU   THANK YOU   THANK YOU   for bumping this thread!

I have been having awful muscle spams, so bad I had to finally resort to heavy pain killers this past weekend.

I will be checking out the transdermal  magnesium chloride right away.

I occasionally experience muscle spasms at night. They are very painful. It is important to stay well hydrated. It is dangerous to take potassium or magnesium supplements without being under a physician's care and possibly getting periodic lab work drawn.

oh I know -  believe me my doctors see me frequently and they are kept abreast of such things.   The spasms I have are in an unfortunate spot -  I never realized how much one uses the muscles in their rear end.  Part of the diagnosis is piriformis syndrome so when it's bad, the sciatic nerve gets compressed.  The nerve needs to be streatched along with my hamstring, but when my physical therapist tries the slightest stretching I go 180 degrees the opposite way and it gets very bad.  This weekend was the worse.  They don't know what to make of it, so I have appts with specialists. The heavy pain medication caused my respirations to be shallow and supressed and one dose kept me groggy for 24 hours, so they want me to try muscle relaxers next.  What I need is massage therapy but getting it covered by health insurance is very hard.  I won't use this until cleared by my doctors, but if this stuff works it could be a god send.

what helps me is a small bottle of tonic water.....   it has quinine in it and stops the cramps for me.

i did not know that!  lol

I'm learning all sorts of things here.

I will have to make sure that there isn't enough to cause a risk with warfarin.

Be careful with the muscle relaxers and be sure the pharmacist or your physician tells you the side effects. They can really wipe you out.

Oh I know.   I try to stay away from taking any medications.
