I'll try to make this as short as possible since I don't like to read long posts myself.

In the beginning of the Book, in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat from only one tree - the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The other tree that God named specifically was the tree of Life. And of that tree God said for them to eat freely.

In God's instructions regarding the trees, Adam and Eve did not believe, or they would not have disobeyed. I believe unbelief came before anything else in the situation. The two trees symbolize 'unbelief' and 'belief'. The tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (unbelief) and the tree of Life (belief).

At the end of Jesus' life at Calvary, the two criminals also being crucified were an unbeliever and a believer. That scene shows us a picture of the world today. Jesus is in the middle and you have two choices - belief or unbelief.

Look at the world today. With what is going on regarding the persecution of Christians, the word "GOD" and its use in our pledge of allegiance, homosexuals "marrying", crosses being torn down, etc., we see that it is a simple matter of either belief or unbelief. Are you eating of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil or the tree of Life, which is just God Himself?

I even believe that in the United States of America the two political parties are evolving into the parties of belief in God or those who do not. If you look closely, Republicans are evolving into the believers and Democrats are evolving into the unbelievers.

I had asked about the verse James 2:10, "For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all", as it applies to the 'Ten Commandments'. If you stumble on the one point "You shall have no other gods before Me", then it doesn't matter if you are able to keep the other nine. You are an unbeliever and no matter how 'good' you are, you are still lost.

Here is the command from God in the New Testament: "- - - that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He (Jesus) gave us commandment." 1 John 3:23.

There is nothing new. Belief or unbelief. That is the only issue in our lives today.

I think it would put it into better context if you read the following in light of the question:

Gen. 3:22 Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.

Here's a portion of something I posted a while back:

The Question

The question is not, "Can man save himself?", we know he can't. The question is, "Can man recognize he is a sinner?"

Yes he can.

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Genesis 3:11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?"

(OT) Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

(NT) Romans 7:13 Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.

In His Love,

Suzanne

 Unbelief didn't have much to do with it. They believed the serpent when he said that the LORD had lied to them.

Nothing has changed much. With all the false doctrines that have been accepted for cenruries.

Now CHRIST who is the LORD said.

Lu 17:6

So the Lord said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

Mt 17:20

So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Why do you not beleive HIM?

Deuteronomy 32:9 For the Lord's portion is His people

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Au contrair (spelling?); God had already said man was 'made in the image of God'. Or to put it as it appears in the Septuagint 'Adam was made the icon of God.' So Adam and Eve WERE ALREADY LIKE GOD!!! The unbelieve comes into play when satan tells them God has 'held out' on them..."If you'll reach out for this fruit...THEN you'll be 'like God.'

How often does satan do the same thing today. "Oh, if you'll pray more...or fast more....or read your Bible more....." THEN you'll be more like God. It is all based on Jesus Christ and His atonement. I need 'reach' no further than the Tree of Calvary.

With a blessing,

Leonard, a sinner

 Unbelief didn't have much to do with it. They believed the serpent when he said that the LORD had lied to them.

God spoke to them first and told them something. Satan then refuted that with a half truth.

It seems to me that before they could believe Satan, they would have to disbelieve God.

Unbelief came first.

The serpent perverted and twisted what god had said and lied to eve saying you will not die. before that adam and eve had no need to know the difference between good and evil.

Eve was deceived:

1 Tim 2:14

And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Adam deliberately disobeyed and listened to Eve.

Gen 3:17

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

Rom 5:12

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
