I have a friend who says that she is a Christian, and that she has accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. However, she has decided that she needs to go see a psychic to help her with her problems.

I told her that she will never be happy and content until she gives her life totally and completely to Jesus. She just laughed at me.

What would you say to this person?

Jeannine, first of all I am glad this person has a friend like you. What you told her was right. She will never be content until she turns everything over to Jesus.

If she really is a Christian, she will care what God has to say about this subject. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 speaks of mediums and spiritists as being detestable to the Lord. Also Leviticus 19:31 says, 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.'

Anytime anyone does anything that has anything to do with any kind of supernatural power we need to ask ourselves, where does the power come from?

If it something the Bible says not to do, obviously this power is not from God, but from Satan.

Now I don't know why she thinks she needs a psychic to help her, a Christian counsellor I could understand, but a psychic?

Last, but not least in any way, pray for your friend, ask God to reveal to her that what she is about to do is the wrong thing. I will pray that as well, hope this helps.

sounds like you told her already what she didnt want to hear, so pray. She will find out the hard way and perhaps your prayers will make the difference for her when she finds herself in the pig pen and desperate.

I agree pray, pray and pray some more for your friend. Before you do spiritual battle againts the enemy make sure to be prayed up yourself. Put on your full armour. You don't want any backlash. I know from experience what praying againts physics without the proper covering can do. I will lift you and your friend in prayer.

I would tell her that this will make Jesus very sad since she had adopted and accepted Him as her permanent and Only Spiritual Advisor.

There are many Scriptures in regards to contacting psychics and sorcerers, but this would probably only make her angry since there is a spirit that is not of the Lord that is coercing her. You asked what I'd say to this friend...above is what I'd say. I would tell her God says much about this but wouldn't give her the Scriptures unless she asked for them. Plant the seed...the Holy Spirit has the watering can.

I did the psychic thing and I have one thing to say to your friend. Be very careful. Psychic's are real at least some of them are and they might tell you your future, but what they don't tell you is that once you enter into that area you open yourself up to the supernatural world. That's not a fun place to be. Only through the grace of God was I able to remove the demon's that I unknowingly welcomed into my life because of my interest in psychic's and the such. What I went through I would never wish on my worst enemy. (If I had one) Glory be to God.

If nothing else, pray for her, that her eyes will be opened.

Some people just have to learn the hard way.

Maybe challenge her to ask the Lord for His leading when she goes there, and ask her if she then feels at peace about the whole thing.

Also, ask her if the psychic uncovers the thoughts and motives of her heart. Do the psychics words promote love or selfishness? Are they about the concerns she went in with, or was she given answers and directions to the cries and longings she has never told anyone?

You see, I have been given words of prophecy from the Lord through Christians who were praying and ministering over me, and the words did uncover my heart, promoted me to love others, and answered cries and longings no one else had a clue about - and even things I hadn't considered to be a big deal, but the revelation tied them in with my big concerns without the big concerns being addressed.

The psychic won't change her heart, and I am betting will be focused on surface concerns and not what is really needed.
