Born Again Christians

Why do some Christians call themselfs "Born Again Christians" ?

Don't we all who believe in Christ Jesus have the right to be called "Children of God" ?

and

Would the 'Born Again Christians' then be better than the 'Christians' , as they are called, acording to the Word of God, the Bible?

and

Would anyone know when the term "Born Again Christians" was first applied?

It is just Christian Semantics.

You can be ...

1.A Christian

2.A Messianic Jew

3.A Messianic Gentile

4.A Born-again Christian

5.A Saved person

6.A Believer

7.A Disciple of Christ

8.A Follower of Jesus

9.A Redeemed person

10. A member of the Church

One could go on and on...they all have their relevance and I daresay we have called ourselves most of these from time to time as the situation warranted.

Of course for the really spiritual who love the clarity of definitions we have the....

Born-Again Spirit-filled Tongue-Speaking Anointed Christian.

Actually G-d looks on the heart and He sees the fruit of our lives that reflect the sanctifying work of His Son within us...this is what impresses G-d because it glorifies the Son...............

Joh 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

Joh 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

'Born again' is not just a label. It is a genuine experience one must have with our creator if one is to become a part of his eternal kingdom. We are all born into this world as descendants from Adam and Eve. They sinned and we, by the very human nature we derive from them, perpetuate their sin and it becomes our sin.

The words of our creator to Adam were:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam did not physically die that day though. He lived more than 900 years longer. What did happen was that he was no longer in direct fellowship with the HOLY GOD that created him. He was removed from the Garden of Eden.

Jesus Christ came into the world to restore the relationship that Adam lost. It doesn

What were the distinctions here?

Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Acts 19:2 he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." 4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

It seems as though there were believers, and then there were BELIEVERS.

here's my two cents.... statistics show that somewhere in the vicinity of 75% of americans classify themselves as christian. i remember up til about ten years ago, if you were admitted into the hospital, for instance, you had to specify your religious preference in case of death, so they'd have the right person giving last rites, etc. maybe many hospitals still do, i don't know. but the thing is, 75% of americans may CALL themselves christian, i.e. they believe in God kinda sorta, but a large percentage of those don't really know the meaning of christianity. to them, it's just a religious preference and if they have to align themselves with one, it's more accurate than identifying themselves as muslim or buddhist or something.

to me, "born again" is a term that identifies those who have truly been born again, and have a personal relationship with Christ.

To me "Born Again Christian" is a contradiction in terms. Where it is true that all genuine blood-washed spirit regenerated believers have been born again (Actually, "born anew"), it is physically impossible to be a "born again Christian." The term implies that one was a Christian before being born again. One be born again and yet not be a Christian. Being a Christian means to follow Christ. Sadly, there are many believers who have the life of God, yet do not follow Christ.

I think in this context people call themselves a 'born again' Christian to more clearly define that they are not a 'nominal' Christian...because so many people are labelled Christian...especially on passports, birth certificates and marriage licences and they are very obviously not.

It shows they understand that they have been born-again...sometimes we have to define ourselves more clearly...especially when in the world nowadays there are many similar voices and many counterfeits that we might otherwise be associated with.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
