Lately I've been reading through some topics online, and doing my own self-evaluation. I came to the conclusion that as far as intelligence goes I am about middle of the road. I would not be qualified enough to take on a leadership role, or to run a company, or get involved in the business of government or local leadership.

However, if you go through the countless threads all over the internet on many forums all I ever seem to notice is that everyone's opinion is always right, and they know the answers to everything. In short, there is no humility in any of these online forums. Everyone is so quick to offer advice, and they are convinced that they have all the answers and there is no need to look beyond their intelligence level because discovery has been complete with them.

I'm not picking on anyone in particular, and in fact, this is merely a generalization of what I have seen over the years on the internet.

Question is - do you look in the mirror and say, "I'm capable of anything". Or do you find yourself being a little more realistic in acknowledging that maybe God didn't make you out to be the President of the United States?

Easy way to evaluate yourself - next time you are in heavy traffic are you looking all around you thinking everyone else driving is a complete idiot, and that you are the only one who knows how to drive properly.

Maybe I'm the one causing the problems on the road...and elsewhere?

Just food for thought folks. Don't spend too much time on this one.

I would welcome your own personal thoughts on the matter.

Humility or pride? Which is you?

Unfortunately I can be both at times. I tend to like to debate quite fiercly even though I may suspect that I'm wrong (ha ha). I do have to be careful sometimes but at least I can recognize it and keep my mouth shut. I guess I don't really know everything... :)

I learned this, this past Sunday. Saying what you said above is pride (opposite of humility), know why? Because by saying that, your saying that it is in your own power that you do things. By saying I can't your saying that God has to rely on you and that is pride. Just adding another perspective to this.

I am saying you and stuff, but I am not directing this towards you, just in general. :P

I think the issue boils down to pride. We hate to let out opinions go in favor of genuine fellowship. I think that we all have this problem It seems to be an inherant trait of the fallen nature. I think that online forums can represent a fairly good cross section of society in general (And by this I mean "world society"). Lack of humility seems to be a common trail in all people.

A wise person is one who is willing to admit that he can be wrong, and admit it openly when he is. :P

I don't understand this reasoning at all Called. (I don't mean to be difficult)

To the best of my knowledge, I would have to concur with baracuda. I know my limits and I also feel that I am not cut out for any type of managerial position, or even supervisory. This has nothing to do with God relying on me - He has simply made me better in some things and not others. He cannot rely on me for anyting because I can do nothing without His strength and God's will. But he certainly has the power to change me or anyone but as for now, I am not cut out for that.

Anyway baracuda, I see what you mean about people seemingly knowing everything. Maybe I'm not on here as much as you but I've only seen a few cases on this site - a lot more on others. I also know I'm not the smartest brick in the cookie jar - but God made me this way and He loves me.

Anyway, I'm no scholar or theologin, but if/when I give advice, it's based on my past experience mixed with my spiritual eyes now. If I comment on a lot of topics, it's not because I'm a know-it-all or study a lot, it's because I've lived a very seedy life up until a couple of years ago. From about age 18 until about my early 30's I was uncontrollable in everything - you name it, I did it. I'm very saddened by the time I wasted before I received Jesus but I'm able to use that to my advantage now and help other people since I have an extensive checkered resume.

We must all check our hearts and motives in all things - even in something seemingly good and noble.

So is recognizing your strength's pride? If you know your good at something should you pretend or act like your not?

I struggle just like the next guy with pride issues, and have experienced humility at the hand of the Lord. Sigh.

I did recieve a nice compliment at work this week from a superior. She said the greatest quality of mine that she liked was that I took ownership for my errors, never denied or passed the buck, just apologized and went and fixed it.

It made me feel good. I thank the Lord for letting my co-workers see Jesus' light shine through. They know I am a christian.

Sometimes I act with humility, but by the grace of God. Other times well.....

Just my 2 cents worth :(

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
