If you found out your pastor had done something extremely hypocritical would you continue to attend that church?

For example:

At a church I used to attend (the one i got saved at) My pastor got on my case about my fiance' (now my wife) living with me and my parents b4 we were married. Now there were alot of circumstances surrounding this that i would rather not get into again. (posted on another thread) but anyway due to her family life this was the best option, and we did have seperate bed rooms. Now this pastor has 5 kids of his own. 2 of which are sons htat are around my age as well.

Shortly after my wife and i got married this pastor allowed one of his sons fiance' to move into his house for reasons kinda like my own.

So the man who condemned us for these actions in turn allowed the same thing to happen under his roof.

Could you continue to attend this church?

I would certainly talk to him about it. Maybe he felt because he was a pastor he would be able to have a better handle on the situation-- more so than you would of been able to in yours (if you get the drift). In either case it doesn't seem right, but it is better to talk to him then to harbor ill feelings against him/or the church itself.

Remember, there's more to the church.... than it's pastor! Seems to me your church board knows what's going... Pray for them all! If it be wrong....surly it will be corrected. Follow the lead of the Holy Spirit and not your own head. :(

Blessings~

I agree with Anonymous, I would certainly want to know under what circumstance he was right and you were wrong....:(....and why!

Well the pastor is also my brother's father inlaw so i have talked to my brother about it but not directly to the pastor himself. Really i hold no ill feelings toward him personally as i know he is no better then you and I just because he is a pastor. Either way i have found a much better church and would not go back there anyway. It just urked me when it happened and i guess obviously by this thread i still havnt let it go completely.

God Bless,

Dave

I should also add that is was the appearance of evil that he thought i should avoid with my fiance living there. So because he was a pastor it would not appear to be evil? see im just not sure the logic here, was hoping to get some insight into that mor then anything.

God Bless,

Dave

In my opinion, of course by the choice you make, you can continue to attend that church, but if I were in your shoes, I would find another one myself.

In God's eyes Pastors and Christian leaders are to meet a higher standard than those that are not in leadership positions.

Christian life and standards are described in 2 Corinthians 6:3-10 and Ephesians 5:1-5. Instructions on Christian service are found in Ephesians 1:11-13, 15-16 and Philippians 2:1-4. All who seek to lead in the Christian community should strive with the assistance of the Holy Spirit to exemplify the following Biblical standards of Christian living drawn from the above passages.

They are required by God to meet certain standards and he judges them accordingly. Below are just some things God takes into account and expects of Pastors and people in leadership positions.

The Christian leader should be committed to the highest ethical standards in both personal and professional conduct.

Christian leaders speak the truth in love and are not quarrelsome. Their speech should reflect their commitment to Christ

The Christian leader exercises self control in speech and action.

The Christian leader is committed to fidelity in the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and chastity in singleness.

The Christian leader should demonstrate in lifestyle that which is desirable in all believers; the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Leaders should seek to illustrate a ministry of grace in their own lives.

Christian leaders are to confess and repent of their sins. They lead by demonstrating humility and the need for God

No it was in his house that they lived... if he had moved out of his father's house to live with this girl then i understand he has no control there.. be he allowed his son's fiance to stay in his house with him and his family b4 they were married. Same scenerio he condemned my wife and I for.

God bless,

Dave

Thank you for your prayers.

Unfortunately i htink the only this will ever be settled is if i confront him with it. If i cant seem to get by it soon i may have to do just that.

God Bless,

Dave

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
