  1. Yet another plague for the list. Once it reaches Human-to-human transmission its really gonna stir things up.
  2. You got that right! and this is just the beginning.
  3. Sorry George, but this is hardly news as we are all aware that the ACLU would like to eliminate the Ten Commandments from EVERY building, government related or not. While they fight to eliminate Christianity in American Society/culture they also endorse unholy behavior by defending "gay rights". A shocker right? Not these days. God help us.
  4. Gay penguins in New York? Do you suppose its something in the water?
  5. It seems strange to me that this has become such a contentious issue. I have seen numbers of movies where the military was brought in to create a quarantine area around a ficticious outbreak of some plague or biological weapons accident. All this time I thought this scenario offered some truth and insight to how such a situation would play out. Now they are saying there is a law to prevent the military from being used in this fassion? All the Steven Segal and Chuck Norris movies were way off base it seems. None the less I have come to expect that the military would be used in such situations. I can understand that under martial law such measure are necessary but for a president to ask or recommend a law be written to put the military at the presidents becon call as he/she sees fit is just a little over board. I would also have to agree that such a law would only be an invitation/opportunity for some misguided leader to abuse. Kinda makes you wonder when they start asking for more power.
  6. It is correct to say we are no longer involved in a war in Iraq. Lately the only news coverage Iraq gets, involves bombings or killings of some sort. This is likely due to the grim outlook for the country. According to an article I read this morning, the new constitution is geared towards ethinic territories. The article also eluded to an undeclaired civil war, causing Sunni's and Shiites to quietly segregate themselves for safety reasons. Even the troops that the U.S. and its allies have trained are now under the control of warlords? As the British military has already shown, the police, for the most part, are turning a blind eye to the activities of their local militants. It is aparrent the worse things get in Iraq the less we are hearing about it. Our troops in Iraq are simply there to quell an insurgency which is being fueled and financed by the enemies of the U.S. I don't like that we went to war in Iraq or what reasons our government had for doing so. Its now beginning to look like our troops will be needed to stifle a civil war that our presence has contributed to. My belief all along has been "we broke it we should fix it". I am not sure we can. We can replace buildings we have destroyed but we have a long uphill battle to repair how the Iraqis feel about the U.S.. This is nearly impossible considering the large majority of Iraqis are Muslim and perceive America as a Christian nation. Its for this reason I believe we will fail in Iraq. Our troops will be there as long as our government thinks they can do some good. With people so determined to undermine our efforts in Iraq it apears to be a loosing battle. I do not wish to draw an conclusions about whether or not our government will accomlish what has set our to do, but its not looking good and our troops could be there a very long time. I forgot to include the article.:-) Iraq article
  7. It might seem to some to be impossible but there is every possibility that the Bible could be used as an instrument to form the comming "one world religeon" we have been told of. I would not personally rule out the possibility that Satan would want to use a watered down version of Christianity as the cornerstone of his own World Chruch.
  8. Thats sad. This guy probably believes he is doing these women a favor. Abortion makes no more sense than Billy The Kid shooting a man for snoring. Its allowing women to say that their comfort is more important than the life they carry. I hope they will overturn Roe Vs Wade in the near future.
  9. I agree Nebula. I guess some of us have not seen the photos of her arrest. As officers had to carry her off she was smiling ear-to-ear. The fact that she was smiling to me indicates that she wanted it to happen. This being the case, it is by no means an example of errosion of anyones civil liberties. As for those that were arrested with her, they were encouraging civil disobediance and so deserved to have it go on their records. I personally don't think any of them were upset about being placed under arrest. Its just another chance for them to relive the 60's.
  10. White House or not, loitering is not permissable on public sidewalks, that includes those in front of your house. What would you do KatyAnn if someone stood in front of your house for an hour or more? Legally they are on public property but your saying if they get tired they can bring a lawn chair and observe all the comings and goings they wish to. The same laws that make it illegal to "stand around" on the sidewalk in front of a persons house are the same ones that make it illegal to "loiter" on the sidewalks encircling the White House. Are you saying its a civil liberty to be able to "case" the white house for security weaknesses? Cindy Shehan is not an advocate for civil liberties but a mascot for disgruntled libertarians. I can understand to some degree why they want us out of Iraq but they are not being realistic AT ALL. A complete pull-out is simply foolishness considering the condition Iraq is in. Cindy Shehan and those like her are of the idea that the loudest person in an argument is right and therefore will win said argument. Her behavior is nothing more than the temper-tantrum of spoiled child.
  11. This just serves to remind us how democracy in our own country is beginning to collapse on itself. There are sooo many outdated state and city ordinances that are left over from when they actually served a purpose. As it stands our governments (local and federal) don't actively seek to eliminate or revise these poorly worded laws and ordinances. Instead they wait around for them to rear their ugly faces. Only then can/will they be dealt with and only after they have caused confussion to the citizens they are meant to serve. So, instead of rewording old, outdated and poorly written laws they simply write new laws or amendments to counter them. For the passed 50 years lawmakers have, in essence, been applying legal bandages never taking the time to even go back and treat the wounds. This is the kind of chaos that lawyers breed and thrive in. Its really kind of frightening. All this legal confussion seems only to lend itself to manipulation rather than governance "for the people by the people".
  12. And here I tought that Californians overwhelmingly supported gay rights. To me it seemed plausible since California seems to set the trend for the rest of the nation. I applaud Arnold for his position on this. His choice to stand behind "the vote" is a wise move and very tactfull on his part. It seems as though most of the nation has come to agree that a "marriage" is not the equivalent of a civil union and therefore does not deserve to use the title of marriage. If the government decides these "couples" deserve rights similar to those afforded to "married" couples then so be it, but at least they will not likely be claiming to be married. At least I hope not.
  13. As it goes so far I have seen little news coverage due to work and familiy members that would prefer to watch family fued, fear factor or tennis. I understand that the Army Guard troops are finally being possitioned in New Orleans which should allow rescue efforts to resume. I have no doubt that much of the relief supplies were/are slow in being dispursed due to the security issue, not unlike Iraq. So we can only hope that as security is in place, food and water will finally find its way to those who need it. As I understand it, the governor had issued "shoot to kill" orders when dealing will those bad seeds. Lawlessness will not be tolerated and will be put down quickly. However, I am still concerned about the criminal element compounding an already tense situaltion here in Baton Rouge. Most of the officials are publicly writing off incidents as "common", but in the background they are arming officers to the teeth and forming task forces. You really should see it here. The dairy sections in all the stores are wastelands. I did finally see gallons on milk on the shelves in a Wal-mart yesterday, but the shelves nearby were empty. The Wal-mart supercenters here are closing at 10pm and opening at 7am. I can only conclude that they NEED this time to restock the ransacked shelves. I am sure that if there was something specific I needed I would simply have to arrive at any given store at opening time. The number of people driving around like they have all the time in the world has multiplied and we still have too many traffic lights not functioning. On the bright side we did get power at work but the phones are out now. I still have no electricity to my apartment even though the other half of the complex does. My uncle finally got electricty this morning as well. I will keep in touch. God Bless.
  14. According to the reports I have seen, there are those that have looted AK-47s from pawn shops and other stores who are now using these weapons to forceably obtain what they want or need. Shots were fired at rescue helicoptors causing them to end their attempts untill national guard units are available to support them. Meanwhile there are armed "thugs" mingling with the people in the Superdome adding to the unrest in an already deteriorating situation. The situation is pretty dire and only getting worse. Much of the news regarding the lawlessness that has taken root in the host cities is being swept under the carpet. We can only assume that they are keeping such news quiet to prevent any panic. I went to the closest wal-mart to get a gallon of milk only to find they were completely out. The lines at the gas pumps are getting longer and the prices higher day by day. The increase in traffic and people mulling about is quite noticable. The director of FEMA is using the CYA method, saying that they have been forthcomming with everything that was officially "requested" by the states. Around here we call that "crawfishing". Its like the backstroke only your tail is tucked under like a dog. Sadly, three days later and the people of New Orleans have not seen any fresh water. Our Governor has asked for 40,000 troops to be deployed to help maintain order. I hope they send some to Baton Rouge. I have no info regarding New Orleans that you have not already heard about on the news. I know that we here in Baton Rouge are doing what we can and trying to be as hospitable as we can. Almost all of the churches are making room for their share of refuges but as I understand it they too will be bussed to other major cities as they make room for them. Our city has, for the most part, absorbed most of those that fled the storm when the evacuation was called. Our leaders are illuding to Baton Rouge becomming the financial capitol of the state in the interim. With any luck we will not have to absorb the bad ellement that has plagued New Orleans for so long. I have noticed that some of those closest to me can only stomach so much bad news in one days time and so they prefer watching thier regular shows for a little respite. I personally have been watching the news almost non-stop. I will let you know how tomorrow goes and try to fill in the gaps where I can for those of you who want to know. Till then. God bless. :-)
  15. Much of the chaos here is not getting much press coverage. Many gas stations have run out of fuel and those that do have fuel have lines that are backed up into traffic causing delays that only serve to burn more fuel. I have heard many rumors of conflict and desperation happening here in Baton Rouge as A large majority of those that fled the storm have come here. I heard a story of two "women" fighting in a Taco Bell parking lot over who knows what. A couple was robbed in a Burger King parking lot in a nearby city (Denham Springs). In the same city other people who were out trying to offer help and solice in the down town area were also robbed/mugged only to have a gun pointed at them by yet another mugger shortly after that. The news is showing that our Police and Sherrifs Dept's are out in force to make their presense known. Even then they are still asking for military assistance. Meanwhile the electric companies are still trying to get power going (its slow going). There are also MANY traffic lights out causing yet more delays despite the fuel conditions. Much of the produce and frozen goods went bad at many grocery stores as I understand it, but I know first hand that the area distribution centers for these stores are still operational. I have yet to hear any word as to whether or not the refinery is up and going again. I can only assume that it is since any problems there almost always make news. All in all things are "stable" here, hectic but stable. Its hard to say how many more people our city can support. Louisiana and Mississippi are THE two poorest states in the country and this has only served to strain our economies even more. Most of these "refuges" will be living off the good graces of others. Obviously those that have the will and skill will be looking for work in whatever areas they find themselves. I drove over to Job Services in town to check on a Job Fair that had been delayed. The parking lot was packed and cars were parking wherever they could squeeze them. As I understand it, the state and law officials are keeping a close eye on price gouging as supply levels are strained. There is some light in this darkness. The gas stations, for the most part, are trying to keep prices at a minimum even as they run out of fuel. Many churches and civic centers are opening up to refuges. They are conducting food and clothing drives throughout town. I personally am blessed that my folks have electricity and I have been staying with them, along with a couple other relatives, since the storm. We have not had electricity where I work since shortly after the storm so I have been watching alot of TV coverage of whats going on. Much of the shock has not worn off yet. I am so gratefull for the other cities/states that have stepped up to the plate to help out. Houston, San Antonio, and possibly Fort Worth Dallas will be housing their share of refuges. Its all so mind boggling, the scope of what has happened. In New Orleans alone we now have (essentialy) one million homeless and unemployed people that will be absorbed by other cities and states. I will be back with more later. Thank you all and God Bless you.
  16. Wolves in sheeps clothing friends. I do not feel the need to forgive him since he did not wrong me personally. I do not feel the need to compound or magnify the damage he has done to himself or the church. Both PRs salvation and ours is in the hands of our savior. Our only hope is to pray for Jesus intercession in matters such as these. Allowing things like these to distract and irritate us only creates a current we inevitably must swim against to stay on course. I think we should take a closer look at what we reflect considering the abundance of evil around us.
  17. When Mr. Chavez made his comment about the U.S. and how he thought a U.S. invasion would turn out. I admittedly found myself somewhat offended and questioning his reasoning. It wasn't till I read many of your posts that I realised how much pride I actually have in the U.S.A. Sadly I fear my pride has caused me to make rash judgements about those who openly claim the U.S. as an enemy. I think that U.S. foreign policy has suffered as a result of our governments over-inflated opinion of itself. Without a doubt, our country/government is rubbing a large percentage of the world "the wrong way". Perhaps, after all the heat Pat Roberts is taking over his comments, he will take a vacation and reflect on what he has said and what he stands for. I personally never equated the 700 club with anything Christian though they tried to claim it. It has always dwelled on worldly thing such as politics and thusly I seldom ever watched the program. I have no doubt the God allowed him to say these things for a reason. Perhaps a wake up call to those who follow self professed Christian leaders rather than reading the Bible and following Christ as it is supposed to be.
  18. As much attention as these pullouts are getting I still find myself torn between peace and land. There is one piece of land which I would not be willing to see under complete Arab/Muslim control, and that is Jerusalem. I think that all this "disengagement" would be worth while if somehow they planned to take back Jerusalem in its entirety.
  19. Sofar this is very interesting. I would love to know more about what the muslims believe without reading the Koran.
  20. I saw this movie not too long ago. I do not recall Joshua kneeling before the pope. I recall the pope becomming angered with Joshua and tempted to strike him I believe. It was at this point that Joshua put his hand to the popes chest and melted the ice around his (the popes) heart. The pope did then weep sorely at knowing who the man before him truely was after all his denial. The pope later asked Joshua (Christ) what he would have him do and Joshua said "lead my sheep". I did enjoy the movie alot and thought it really struck home. Please do not listen to the nay-sayers in regards to this movie. Watch it for yourself. The movie itself is flawwed inevitably but is made in good will. Just a note: the movie is based in/around a Catholic church/community. For those who adhere to dissimilar doctrine it is likely to rub them the wrong way a couple times.
  21. Amen! and AMEN! The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want for anything!
  22. This always turns out to be an involved debate every time this topic comes up. One argument I get from folks I know is that (fermented/alcoholic) wine was consumed in leu of drinking the water which likely had many parasites and bacteria. This argument obviously did not take into consideration the existence of wells. I never considered wine to be anything other than alcoholic. However if indeed fermentation does persist in grape juice as it sits (especially at room temperature), then the amount of alcohol would vary throughout the seasons after and prior to the grape harvests. It would certainly be folly to believe that all "wine" referred to in the Bible was not fermented. If that were the case then there would be no reason at all to be concerned how much wine anyone was given to drink. Wine has been proven to ward off many different kinds of ailments and the alcohol in strong drink has long been used as an antiseptic. Wine in and of itself is not bad. Anyone "given to much wine" leaves themselves open to influence by Satan, directly of indirectly. The repeated (excessive) consumption of such beverages only provides for a lasting influence of Satan upon ones life and home. I don't think theres a need to be legalistic or to mince words regarding drinking wine. Wine has and will always be consumed in feasts of celebration. We are simply to be aware that its not in our best interest to drink it more often than those infrequent occasions.
  23. Thats exactly it! Everyone who responded is correct. I had become obsessed with how much he was getting away with that I was going out of my way at times to "spy" on him. I have reported his actions so many times that management had to have been thinking I was making half of it up. I recently mentioned to one of my other co-workers that I might have to go above the branch managers head. It managed to get beck to him and I was told I would be fired if I could not mind my own buisiness. All my efforts were out of a sense of responsibility, not only for his work habits, but with the company in mind as well. I haved washed my hands of it. I can and will no longer hold myself responsible for my co-workers actions. If the management is willing to sweep it under the rug and continue to pay him for not working I say...So be it. Many would say I should not have concerned myself with his work habits in the first place. However I was the one having to pick up his slack. When he is behind in his work I am the one who is asked to help him and I will resentfully comply. Anyhow, when the manager found out there was a possibilty of it going over his head he was not happy. I was on vacation when he got wind but it seems he had words with my co-worker. The day I came back from vacation we had a "meeting" concerning my comments. My co-worker was quite upset and even threatened me. I can only assume that he had been reprimanded. The manager covered by saying that he had "authorised" my co-workers little trip on company time to go change clothes for the company function. Though unitentional, it seems that management is now most assuredly aware of my co-workers efforts to "get over on them" and have called him on it. They ignored all my efforts and suggestions to keep a close watch only to find I wasn't making it up. My immediate supervisor assured me they would be keeping a closer watch. I can now resume my duties with my performance in mind. I have to admit that the companies/managers lack of concern and poor judgement has reduced yet again the amount of wind in my company sail. I will continue to do my job untill my job search bares fruit. I can thank God that it is now all over. :-)
  24. Last Sunday we had a guest speaker who used this same analogy. Sweet! I love Michael Youseff. I have not SEEN his show YET but I have heard him plenty. I have only turned his show off once during my lunch break. He was preaching tithing and started to sound like a televangelist.
  25. I honestly don't know of any God honoring shows on TV. Then again I have only had acces to extended basic for about a month. Even then I have had limited access to the TV with my roommates daughter here. Didn't he do Tim Lahayes movie series on the rapture? I've seen them all but they had little impact on me. Even so its nice to have some familiar faces from Hollywood professing our Lord and Savior. I will have to keep an eye open for the show he is on. For the record I have little reason to trust TBN at this point. From all I have heard they are the primary vehicle for people like Benny Hinn. I have no desire to promote/encourage people like Benny Hinn than I would want China to have free acces to buy American companies. There are still some channels I like to watch in general. Animal Planet, Discovery channel and discovery Health, the history channel is ok, I like spike and Sci-fi channel too. I can't think of any others atm. I would have to agree though. There is not much to watch that is conducive of a Godly lifstyle. This is one reason I can see myself spending most of my time either at the Gym or in Bible study. With Gods blessing I hope I wont have to wait long before I have internet access at my new apartment so I may again continue to fellowship with my brothers and sisters here at WB.
