I can even begin to think about how one faces the end of one's life without a knowing God

We found a devotional book just for Christmas that we read every day. We also choose to send faith based Christmas cards. we make it a point to go to at least one church Christmas play at one of the mega churchs around here. We watch that movie that came out a few years ago( can't remember the name at the moment)

Wal Mart shoppers hurt by syringes hidden in clothing

I'm not sure why she should be tested for AIDS unless it was to ease her mind. The AIDS viris is very weak. If there was not fresh blood she is not at risk. The AIDS viris dies after about 30 seconds when exposed to the air. Don't know for sure about hepatitis. When you hear about people getting AIDS from needle sticks or dirty needles it's because they went from an AIDS person to a non AIDS person while the blood was fresh. BUT I still think this is a mean and sick thing to do. -
Here is my two sense worth. Having known a number of Adopted people. Mostly they are thankful to there bio parents for letting them have the wonderful parents they have. Most understand that their Bio parents were not able to keep them so because of love gave them to someone who could. I think Giving your embryo to someone who can not create one them self would be a act of love for both that child and the parents to be

maybe than explains why all my special Ed students have been off the hook this week. So did this happen like they thought?

Welcome to WB, and I agree with you 100 percent that mental illness is just as real as physical illness. There are a lot of Christians that will attack mental health professionals and tell those who have mental illness that any treatment outside of prayer is wrong, but I consider that nonsense. I am a firm believer in the power of God to heal, but I also believe that God is fine with us seeking out a physician when we are sick. I'm 100% with you on this, too. And you guys can add me to the list, as I've lived with clinical depression my entire adult life. It's been under control for a while now, thanks to a combination of therapy and medication, and the grace of God. I can't remember how many times I've personally witnessed Christians display disdain at the idea of some if not all mental illness. My "favorite" line was, "We all get sad sometimes, but eventually you just have to stop feeling sorry for yourself and get over it." Spoken, of course, by someone who'd never dealt first-hand with depression. Even worse, to me, than this statement was the chorus of agreeing nods from the other Christians who were present. What a shame that so many Christians can be so condescending and dismissive of illnesses that not only dramatically impact the lives of those who have them, but that can and too often do, lead those afflicted with them to take their own lives. It's very sad how unfeeling Christians can be to each other. So very true. I suffer from a type of depression cause by having ADDHD. It's not something I am ever going to get over. With Meds I do well. When I tell people they always say things like but you are such an upbeat person. They have no idea without Meds how much effort it takes to keep that face on

I enjoy Listening to Joel. He always encourages me. That being said I do not turn to him for teaching on the word. But then I don't turn to say John Haggee to be uplifted. You have to remember we only see a little bit of any TV preachers sermon or service. I'm sure we all have speakers/preachers whose style we do not care for ( Paula White for me) that does not mean that they are bad.

Halal foods - have you seen them or would you eat them
glennagail replied to Littlelambseativy's topic in General Discussion
I was thinking the very same thing -
You may be right, Shiloh, but there is no Scripture forbidding tattoos. True, but is there scripture commanding us not to defile our bodies in general? I thinkl there is but right now I can't think of it off the top of my head. The problem is that many people who have tattoos do not think of them as a thing that defiles the body. They see them as a thing of beauty. There are christian I know with crosses or things like that who believe they are express thier faith. No different than wearing a tshirt that says I love Jesus. I have no desire to have a tattoos I just think that there are more important things in our walk that we need to look at.

I am dreading........................
glennagail replied to methinkshe's topic in General Discussion
I don't know if this helps but all the parents of my students ( I work in a special ed class) feel the same way about our three week break that will start next week It's ok to but her in front of Veggie tales. Have you thought of getting together with some of her classmates I am sure the other parents in her class feel the same way as you do. They could use a break from being all alone with thier child. Also don't be afriad to ask her teachers for ideas . We teachers know about lots of free stuff. Many zoo's, aquariums and the like have free days ( like the first wed of the month between 10-2) just some ideas but don't beat yourself up. In fact all parents at times dread the summer break. -
Kids say the darndest things, often more profound than a Harvard scholar. He cast him out of heaven, and hates the sin that the devil represents, I'm not sure if there is any way that God could love the devil, thats a tough question. Gotta love Kids But I think that God does indeed love Satan. He was once his. But I do think he hates what he has become and what he does to his other children

I like my small church. I live down the street from one of those Mega Churches. I have visited once or twice for special things. But I like knowing everyone. My pastor has allowed me to speak a few times. Which has been something I always wanted to do. You could never "test" your skills in a big church. That being said Big churches can do more for people than a small church can. I too would have a hard time giving to a big church like that. You don't have to give just at church you can give to others who you feel are doing God's work.

Should parents lose custody of super obese kids?
glennagail replied to MorningGlory's topic in General Discussion
There can be so many reasons that a child is obese. That being said we have to do something about our kids. One of the things that has always bugged me is that the "good " food cost more so those with out means have to feed there kids things like canned foods, lots of pasta and carbs becasue they can make those go farther than say fresh fruit and veggie. -
This could very easily become 3 threads But the point is that not peaching the whole word is not good. While I do not agree with everything you said I agree that many things taught today are not in the Bible but are rather our present day idea of what it means without looking at the times, culture and people they were written to. Also understanding what the words meant at the time they were written.

I was just wondering if you all have some ideas to share on how to grow your church. We get people who visit. Some even come a time or two and then we never see them again. We are a very small church. (Under 50) What type of things does your church do to get people connected to the fellowship?

are we the generation that shall not pass, (die)

Amen Brother. We should use the things we think point out the nearing of Christ's return to spur us on in the reaching the lost not to worry about the date. -
Why is hell and damnation so rarely preached these days?
glennagail replied to methinkshe's topic in General Discussion
No matter how happy we think we are this is the state we live in until we know Messiah. Thank you for taking time to talk with this needy person. I appreciate that action because others in my past told me of Christ, now I do not experience a sense of loss, but one of salvation. God is GOOD! Yes, indeed, God is GOOD! You know, sometimes I think that as Christians we're like a team of beachball players on a familiar beach who, on seeing a crowd of newcomers sunbathing and doing very little, try to convince them that there's more to be enjoyed at the beach than just sunbathing, so why not join us in a game of beachball? But none of these regular beachball players mentions that when the tide comes in on that particular bit of sand, there's no escape as the exit is cut off by the rising tide. There is no point in preaching Jesus as Saviour unless we also preach what He saves us from. Humm I'm not sure that there should be a lot of hell and damnation preached in the church. There is so much more the church needs to hear. They already know that Jesus saved them from hell. On the other hand like Joi said you have to know that you need saving. It is hard for most people to understand that being good is not enough. We don't want to think of a kind good person going to hell. I think another reason it is not preached in the church is that it hurts. It makes us think of those we love who are lost. An example from my own life, my dad was raised in church but when he became an adult, he walked away from it and never went back. He would not talk about what he believed. I can not bear to think of him in hell. SO I have to believe that he just walked away from the church not Jesus. It just makes it hard to fool myself when someone preaches hell. I know myself what brought me to Jesus was discovering the love of Jesus. It was not the fear of hell. I'm sure others need to hell scared out of them. Maybe I'm just out of the loop But I don't hear about evangelists going around sharing salvation. They are the ones who should be preaching hell not your pastor he is there for the sheep. That's not to say that all of us should not be preaching the gospel. -
No sweetie you did not. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is believeing in your heart of hearts that That the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not God. That the work of the cross did not happen That God is not God. That he can not do what he said he could do ( save us ) though Jesus Christ.

I know what you mean. I respect the right of every person on earth to have faith in whatever they want. I respect that there are some very wonderful people who have faith in things other than Jesus BUT that does not mean I have to believe they are right or bring it into my church

Let's see I was saved when I was about 15. I went to Church with a friend and at the alter call I went forward. It bugs me That I don't know the date but all well those things are not really important. My life was changed forever that day. There have been ups and downs but Jesus is always there. SO what is God doing in my life right now. He is giving me peace. For the last two years we have been living on my job and my love's unemployment. Now the unemployment is gone. My income on paper is not enough yet we have what we need and the bills are paid. But more important than that is I have peace. He is helping me not to be all stressed out.

What I have always heard was that God told Adam not to eat the fruit and Adam told Eve. Therefore Adam was the one who sinned Eve just disobeyed Adam. I also think the post about how Eve was deceived but Adam knew what he was doing is right. But I will say God never says Eve did not sin. Like so many things in the bible it has so many layers. Interesting thought I will have to see what people I know think about that. If I come across anything really good I'll let you know.
