Life is hard. So driving to church this morning I realize I have never been happier. Not because I was on the way to church, there are consequences seemingly every time, as the enemy seems to notice and come against me. But, Nehemiah 8:10 ends in "for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Thinking, what does that even mean? I know why I have joy every day now, and its not from this world. Anyway, its cool when you contemplate a verse for 1/2 hour on the way to church and then that same verse gets brought up during the service. So i've read the commentaries, and i'm hoping someone will have something to share on "for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Somewhere i remember hearing, "You don't have to agree with me just because I'm right!" John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.

Lol. People's hearts can be changed just by hearing God's word, that is true. What if I only read niv my whole life, can you be glad I at least read?

i've read that before, that because of the law of gravity everything is created. even if someone can explain that to me, where did this law of gravity come from if there once was nothing? -
Butero have you heard? Someone actually wants to provide bibles to those who need hope! This is great!
-
Praise God! Somebody wants bibles! Hallelujah! Can we pray blessing over these versions and pray they bring life to many! Let them be opened and the truth be taken in! Did you hear? Somebody wants to bless someone else with bibles!

Playing with words. "Pray" is not to dead people. I'm not sure your even trying to make anyone take you serious. Your arguments are not coherent. -
I can only hope that is the case. Appreciate your conviction, yet some simply have trouble reading the version you accept, so I hope that is not the case lol. Just stating the unknown can't really be judged by us.

My first thought was maybe they have an intended destination for these bibles and that audience does not receive KJV very well? Or maybe they are collecting all non-KJV to destroy these " corrupted" copies? Lol just kidding. If not concerned enough to ask them, why worry or assume?

Miracles on dead bodies, i guess. But miracles on dead people brought to life, given eternal life by Jesus, sign me up! I want to hear about that! Life, not death. Do I want to walk with God so closely that He performs a miracle and preserves my dead body after I die? Nope. It ain't about dead bodies, its about life, John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Lets talk about Jesus, not the dead! Are we still on the OP topic? -

It is troubling you bring up dead bodies as miracles. When did Jesus tell us to look to the dead? Look to life, look to Jesus. I know almost nothing of Catholics, yet every post you present is troubling. -
should CHRISTIANS OWN WEAPONS OR FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE SYSTEM?

Ok pat. I'm really not trying to provoke you, but I am trying to discuss if we sometimes read into scripture how we see the world, when God's ways are not our ways. Romans 14:1-4 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. I have no judgement of you or anyone owning weapons. I have struggled to figure out what my interest here is, but I have come to understand it was when some posted judgmental posts about those who may not respond to danger in the same way. I will allow that there is a good chance God calls you to different areas than He may call me to. That is all I was hoping to express, though it took some serious contemplation of why I was taking the opposite view you had. Another thread about "baiting" was recently introduced, and I had to consider if that was my motive, yet it was not. While I did read your arguments, they did not convince me your view is proven by scripture. I am inclined to believe you are exactly where God has put you, yet we should be careful not to expect God to make us all the same. Thank you for discussing with me Pat, I don't feel I have anything to add here as have posted somewhat randomly and need to study some of the passages. Usually when someone says they are done with a thread they come right back lol! -

You continually play with wording like your playing dodgeball. Asking a saint who has passed on to help them? Consulting with the dead. Jesus is the answer. You know that but this is a game to you. -

My point being the verse states He drive them. Cattle seldom need to be touched to drive them. Are we reading more into the verse than it states? I can also overturn tables without being violent. -

So at best your example allows a tool commonly used to move animals to be used as it was intended to be used? Violence is defined as moving livestock? -

Interesting play on words to try to justify Mary being prayed to. But that is all it is, a play on words, lacking any truth. Jesus is the central character. -

How can God have a spiritual mother? It is good to examine what one has been taught to see if it agrees with scripture. -

I used to agree with you Pat, but its the old ends justifies the means argument that is on my mind. Simple example is how police can interrogate suspects trying to get to the truth, but are allowed to lie to suspects in order to get a confession. Doing a wrong to arrive at justice. Seems stacked in favor of real criminals. Career criminals know police lie. An honest law abiding citizen could believe the police have evidence against him, even if he is actually innocent he may confess as police tell him they will go easier on him if he does confess. I have long wondered how we allow those who are supposed to serve and protect to make a career out of lying. Using violence seems to play by the devils rules so to speak. -

Just found this statement interesting, in what way do you fight to preserve life, and are you referring to mortal life or eternal life? Trying to comprehend your meaning, as Jesus did not fight, He laid His life down, -

what would you be robbed of regardless if you can or can not prove what you are saying? You are as your creator created you, and placed right where He placed you, what more or less could you gain or lose by this arguement? Spiritual heritage? There is no more to gain than know Christ. Please explain to me this heritage you believe you must convince me to believe. -

The thing that troubles me with your scenarios pat, is Jesus walked the earth when slaves were brutalized, even killed. Yet he said slaves should submit to their master. Why did he not free them. I think I see enoobs direction but I am unable to put in words. Do you ever think Jesus was telling us to look at things differently than you do pat? -
should CHRISTIANS OWN WEAPONS OR FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE SYSTEM?
hmbld replied to SINNERSAVED's topic in General Discussion
Christians should clearly distinguish between persecution for the sake of the Gospel and their Christian witness, and self-defence against those who would harm us and our loved ones. Christians should also use every means available to maximize their personal security, and for some it may mean carrying lethal weapons, which can be used to disable rather than kill. The examples we have in the New Testament pertain to persecution, not predatory personal attacks by criminals. While God does have His hand over His children, He also requires the use of prudence and wisdom by all believers. Faith should not become foolishness. And the Lord did tell His disciples to purchase swords for their own protection (Lk 22:36), while He rebuked Peter for trying to protect Him who called have called down "more than twelve legions (a great multitude) of angels" had He chosen to protect Himself. Appreciate your patient, clear posts. It is clear I do not have this very well thought out, and posts like this are most helpful. Do we know that every time Paul was attacked, it was persecution and not simply to be robbed? Not even once? -
Or it's also possible the book contains untruths and should be recognized as such?
