Shiloh, my post was in response to the thread, in which I included one thing you said. I did not intend for all of it to be accounted to you.

Self defense, surely the bible allows one to defend them self. Stating a person is not a man if they are not prepared to kill another, or indicating one is yellow, is that appropriate discussion? Shiloh, I know you are much more articulate than having to resort to that. What if instead of being prepared to kill people to defend mortal bodies, we were prepared to lay our lives down in the hope of the lost be saved? I am convinced the kingdom of God is more than saving mortal bodies. I was trying to figure out if I knew I was "yellow" and decided to answer, maybe I am just enough to trust God. Still, the conversation could be held on its own merits rather than name calling.

God has no need of physical water to save my soul. I am saved by faith. I was baptized to be obedient, to publically declare Jesus is Lord, and to demonstrate symbolically the old man is dead/buried I have new life in Christ. I thank many here at worthy who have helped my understanding of baptism.

I fail to find your argument on long hair to be supported by scripture. If it was it would have been a shame for Sampson. Or a shame for women who have their hair fall out for natural or cancer treatment reasons. Trying to change the appearance of gender is the issue. I used to buy into it being right to wear a suit to church, though I have never owned one. Bring your best before God and all that. I felt people looked down on me for how I dressed. Could God be so concerned about our hair or clothing?

Maybe I don't understand word meaning, but to me lust is included?

For some reason I am wondering how many would discredit the old testament prophets if we were alive back then and actually met them. Who could be judge and say God does not use homeless people to His Glory?

Marilyn, a question I have is do you believe there are any benefits or need to have actual church buildings or organizations? I desire smaller, more close group meetings, yet I see great value in an organized meeting place, and trying to figure out if this is from being taught by mans methods or not. Many times I do not know why or where preconceived ideas come from. At present I see importance in both an organization and home meetings.

What if a person feels God has abandoned them, that they know they are not part of "the elect", but still are deeply troubled, even desire to know if Jesus is real, but feel they are unlovable by God, or God does not love? I don't have the answers, and when I read scripture to this person it causes more and more questions of doubt, and i'm feeling overwhelmed.
