  1. What Paul taught was direct revelation from the Lord. It is a grave sin to deny Pauls teachibgs as if they were contrary to the rest of scripture. "2 Peter 3:15-16 NIV Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. [16] He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction."
  2. How about the husband being head and lord? "1 Peter 3:6 NIV like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear." "Ephesians 5:22-23 NIV Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior." It is clear that in the Church God has called men to lead and over see. In the world women can minister and preach, in Church they are to be in quietness and subjection to male leadership, as should most men as well.
  3. Actually we are completely dead to the Law. The wages of sin or punishment for trangressing God's Law is death. When Christ unjustly hung on the tree, we who trust in him was supernaturally crucified with him. The Law cannot bring accusation against a dead man. Our Life is now governed by union with Christ. Not the Law. "Romans 7:4 NIV So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God." Galatians 2:19-20 NIV “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. [20] I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
  4. Any good Bible student understands that the Old Testament is ripe with prophesies, types and foreshadows of Christ but the New Testament is the full unveiling of the truth of Christ. You could not know many Biblical truths by only reading the Old Testament like, Crucified with Christ, The Church being made up of Jew and Gentile creating one organism, etc, etc. It would be like being fascinated with a picture of your wife when she is sitting right next to you.
  5. All true but great error in calling her the mother of God. Scripture is ripe with passages on the Deity of our Lord, but is completely silent on calling a created being mother of God
  6. Man this thread is way over my head it seems. Sounds like you are saying Calvinist teachers look for natural explanation for supernatural things in scripture most of the time?
  7. God bless you Sister, but be careful when speculating about angels. Especially when scripture speaks expressly that we are completely blessed in Christ, and are complete in him. Seems to me that writer added tons of teaching that would throw the harmony of scripture out of wack. "Colossians 2:18-19 NIV Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. [19] They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow."
  8. Excellent post 1to3. There may have really been a book of Enoch, but it is very clear that the one we currently have is a counterfeit that does not rightly divide or harmonize with real scripture. Thank God for making it so easy to distinguish his voice from that of a fake.
  9. Declaring Mary the mother of God is not the way to combat the denial of the Deity of Christ. Mary came from the loins of David. Are you prepared to David the Father of God? Has scripture anywhere made such a statement? Its pure error, plain and simple.
  10. I think he clarified what he meant I do not believe a devout Mormon, Jehovah witness or Catholic is saved. I'm well aware that, that is my opinion but I think they err too greatly on the fundamentals of our faith.
  11. No doubt Mary was a willing vessel and definitely blessed among( not above) women. I consider her great and one of the great examples of faith, but this co-mediatrix stuff, and making prayers on on our behalf to Jesus robs us of our unimaginable priviledge to go directly to the throne of grace to Christ himself. Whether done in ignorance or not it is pure heretical teaching, and should be rejected by every saint of God.
  12. Lol I know my grammar andctyping skills are horrible but I was actually agreeibg with you 100%.
  13. I hear nothing but good things about the NKJV. The more I think about it, I belive I can enjoy other versions more due to my strong background and familiarity with the Kjv. So I might recommend a beginner to start there before venturing off to the Niv or other translations with so called "missing verses". Getting solid in doctrine through the Kjv is priceless. Then tackle the newer versions as to maybe side step unnecessary confusion. Maybe not good advice for everyone but God used it for me.
  14. So true. Sometimes I get complacent with just watching anything on tv and slack in my communication in prayer with The Father. Then wonder why I am so weak at times. We indeed should always be mindful of everything we filter into our minds, and eyes. Sober and vigilance is a command from God.
  15. Mary is indeed not the mother of God, for God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Blessed be the name of the Father of Lights who cannot die and no mortal can lay claim to giving him a physical existence. Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who voluntarily layed aside his divinity for the weakness of humanity(provided by mary) and humbled himself to the death for humanity. Mary is mother of the man Christ Jesus, just as Abraham and David are considered his fathers from an earthly lineage. Nowhere in scripture is any human being called the mother of God. As the eternal word he created mary. She was a vessel to give him his weakness and susceptibility to death so that he can wrest the power of death from satan.
  16. That is enough right there to declare whatever group non Orthodox and not a true Christian group.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, scripture says he had to be delivered. Being entangled in and among all that wickedness day by day did serious damage to that man of God. I mean he ended up in relations with his daughters. You are completely right when you say comprimise with sin costs. It sometimes leave wounds and scars(though forgiven) that can last until the Lord takes us home.
  18. Yeah, there are some really good commentaries out there as companions to a good Bible translation. I personally love Jamison, Fausett, and Brown. Very non intrusive and flexible to allow the reader to get understanding of scripture apart from certain Theologies.
  19. Well, my nieces and nephews routinely call me old.
  20. Brother I wish I could give Triple rep for this post. It literally brought me to tears. I think that is the heart of every believer. The desire to please God and give it our all.
  21. I kind of envy you brother. Such a blessing to see an older saint still going strong and serving the Lord. Man I'm ready to go home right now but I know the Lord is being patient. I'm 45 right now and that time went by in the blink of an eye. Soon we'll all be home.
  22. Keep up the good work. Continue to let your light, love and kindness show. You are doing missionary, evangelistic, and very important work. I was a hard case before I got saved but my dear parents never gave up trying to reach me. Even though my Dad was a Pastor he influenced me to listen to a man by the name of Oliver Green on the radio. After listening to this man preach the Gospel time after time God eventually opened my heart to receive him. You just never know. I think these verses can be applicable to your situation. "1 Corinthians 7:16 NIV How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?" "1 Peter 2:12 NIV Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us."
  23. Amen. Its literally our food and sustenance while we are down here on our pilgrimage. As I have grown in my faith I have found that its not really about how much head knowledge of his word that I have but that which I do know to put into practice and allow it to shape my life according to his will.
  24. I'm sorry you feel that way Omega, but my whole point is I teject the idea that he loves some more than others. Again no hatd feelings brother, be blessed my friend.
  25. Omegaman said: "The greatest commandment is that we are to love our God, with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind." Surely this is true, but it is expressed to its greatest extent by loving our fellow man. So it does matter how God loves others as we are instructed by him to love others. "1 John 4:11-12 NIV Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. [12] No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."
