  1. Any person who has the audacity to spout off how much they did or how good they were was never saved to begin with. They never knew Christ and he never knew them. Mat 7:22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Mat 7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' A genuine believer trusts God’s promises which are in Christ. We trust in his righteousness alone and we know God cannot lie. The probability of one who trust in the finished work of Christ being left behind is 0%. Php 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. Rom 9:33 As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame." Rom 10:11 As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame." 1Pe 2:6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." Standing by faith on the Rock of the Son of God, you will never come up confused or at a loss. God will honor his promise. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  2. Agreed. The Apostles were given special gifts from God. These men could heal people just by their shadows. Paul said he turned some brothers over to satan to learn not to blaspheme. They raised the dead. God allowed them to do these “special” miracles to establish Christianity. Act 19:11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, Act 19:12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. Look at Peter with Ananias and Sapphire. They dropped dead after he confronted them. The Apostles were special, which is why it is not wise to try and replicate what God did through them. There was a specific purpose behind it. Rom 15:18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— Rom 15:19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
  3. Theology is the study of God. It is very important as we are told to learn about him and his will more and more. Col 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, Col 1:10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 2Pe 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. As a Christian you have an obligation to God to show yourself worthy to handle and speak on his word. 2Ti 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. It’s good to be an infant for a time, but you and I must grow. We must study, and move on from simplistic teachings and get to the deep things of doctrine. Heb 5:11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. Heb 5:12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Heb 5:13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. Heb 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Heb 6:1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, You must learn about God so you can oppose any who falsely represents him. We are soldiers and we must stand against any and all false doctrine. Tit 1:9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
  4. Your two examples are not templates for ‘untimely prayer’. They are representative of two important lessons. Moses as representing the Law was a type showing the Law can never take one to glory. It wasn’t designed for that. Gal 3:11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith." Gal 3:12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them." Gal 3:21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. Of course Moses was a great saint of God, but I believe God’s response to Moses was a foreshadowing of the Law not being able to save do to the weakness of man. As far as the Transfiguration, the disciples would have placed creatures or created beings on the same level as the Son of God. That is idolatry. Only the Lord Jesus is worthy. Only he purged our sins in his own blood. The Father was teaching them a hard lesson about this truth. Heb 3:3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; We can pray amiss, but there is no untimely prayer today as we are told to pray always and for all things. We are to bring every matter that pop up in our lives to God instantly. 1Th 5:17 pray continually, Col 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Eph 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. Php 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Even in our ignorance of prayer the Holy Spirit stands in the gap and prays for us. He prays right prayers according to God’s will and our needs. Rom 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Rom 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. Prayer for the child of God is always at a meeting place of grace. No matter how ignorant or untimely, we are welcomed at his throne. Heb 4:16 Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
  5. Worshipping God in Spirit does not mean to the exclusion of the fleshly body. It is in and through what we do in our bodies that are important to God. Rom 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 1Co 6:20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1Co 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Worshiping in spirit simply means there are no longer specific physical Holy places that we have to go to, to worship God. Anywhere we are is Holy and a perfect place to worship God. In Old Testament times no believer would have ever thought to pray to God in a bathroom, or a woman right in the middle of her menstrual cycle. Now in Christ those things are not even accounted for as we can come boldly to the throne of grace anywhere and anytime at a moments notice. Joh 4:20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem." Joh 4:21 "Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. Joh 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
  6. I do that sometimes myself @JoniSteele. I have been apart of this site since 2012, and I occasionally take a year or less to recharge my batteries. Hopefully you come back soon to share something fresh that God has put on your heart.
  7. @JTC I totally understand what you are trying to say. Salvation is free to us, but this Christian life and journey comes at a heavy cost in this life. Thankfully the Captain of our salvation, our great Shepherd will lead us safely home. Rom 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2Co 4:17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2Co 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 1Co 15:19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
  8. I think he is more giving praise to the truth in the verse than really expecting an answer. God is really not asking a question in the great 8th chapter of Romans so much as making a triumphal announcement. “No one can Judge you, no one can condemn you, no one can separate you”. The addition of “who can” makes it even more powerful.
  9. God is the only Judge that matters. He said he calls us righteous in Christ. So satan the accuser nor anyone else can bring a charge against us. Hallelujah! Rom 4:8 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them."
  10. This thread is so funny. I know I’m getting up there because all the younger people refer to me as sir. The younger guys call me unk (short for uncle) or old head. Lol it doesn’t help that I have a large beard with tons of grey in it. I’m 48 but with the beard look more like 58. I love it though.
  11. It’s free but it’s not cheap. The Son of God had to go through things he had never experienced before. He laid aside his crown and became one of us to redeem us. At the cost of his life, and the Father placing all of our filth upon him(who knew no sin). He paid the heavy cost for our salvation. Heb 2:9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. Heb 2:10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 2Co 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. God gave Christ so that salvation could be free.
  12. The guy is great. I love the fact that he tackles today’s issues head on. Like you said his teaching is direct and to the point. Mike Winger is the same. He’s an extremely gifted teacher.
  13. Yeah YouTube is my main source of entertainment. I love Biblical podcasts like Mike Winger and Allen Parr. I can even follow my old time preachers like Harry Ironside.
  14. This is true. I watch some pretty hardcore stuff like Narcos(the Pablo Escobar story), I watch snowfall( story of the US selling drugs to fund the Iran/Contra war)on Hulu. I have to skip about half the show do to sexual content.
  15. People were actually doubting him being an Apostle and even his salvation. That’s why he has one of the most abused statements in all of scripture, “examine yourselves , see whether ye be in the faith”. Christians today take that as we should doubt our salvation and not have assurance, when Paul was really saying “you don’t believe I am genuine? I know I am genuine, test your own selves, not me. “ 2Co 13:3 since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you. 2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? 2Co 13:6 And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test. There is no way an unsaved man or woman could test themselves. Satan has them blind. Only God himself can show an unbeliever the error of his or her ways. 2Co 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 2Co 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
  16. Oh man that sounds good right now. I usually have some pork n beans right out of the can with my sandwich.
  17. Fried bologna ,yum! There is a local hole in the wall that sells fried bologna and egg sandwiches and they are amazing. Sounds a bit nasty but boiled bologna is good too. Lol
  18. Oh my. Spam used to be so good back when I was a little kid. Now I’m scared to eat it. Looks like it is packed in petroleum jelly ?
  19. Yes that is a sign of demonic suppression. God does not deal in despair. He may convict us, but he never does it to make you feel hopeless. He is a God of hope and he encourages us to trust him in the worst of times. 2Co 4:6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2Co 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; God uses these times of demonic attack to strengthen us so that we can later strengthen a fellow saint the same way we were comforted 2Co 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 2Co 1:4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Satan’s main weapon to me is his invisibility. An unseen enemy who hates you and is looking for any opportunity to strike. Thank God he can go only as far as the Father allows him. Job 1:9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. Job 1:10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. Job 1:12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. God has supplied us with all the resources we need to stand our ground against him. Especially the sword of the Spirit(the word) and prayer. The instant he starts attacking bring that problem directly to God.
  20. Just thinking about this subject some more, I find nothing at all wrong with a believer dedicating the time and resources to avoiding spending at worldly businesses. If you have the time to do the research I say go for it. I think many of us would be happy if someone compiled a list of Christian owned businesses. I think God has let us off the hook for such a hardcore task, but I would be grateful for such a list in my own shopping and spending. 1Co 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 1Co 5:10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
  21. I stopped using them because they cost way too much now. Like @other one said, if you search there are some very good shows and documentaries on there including faith based.
  22. Yes, that is the relationship he has to the Father. It also intimates God as triune. The Son is equal with the Father, yet he humbles himself under the Father, yet the Father pours all glory onto the Son. So amazing and mind blowing. Heb 1:5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father"? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"? Heb 1:6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." Php 2:6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; Php 2:7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Bless his Holy name. If you believe on the Son you have the Father also. Joh 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 1Jn 2:22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 1Jn 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. How worthy is the blessed Son of God? Hallelujah!
  23. I gotta give it to Burger King, that Impossible Whopper tastes like real beef. They claim it is 0% beef. Kind of crazy. I could go meatless if every veggie burger tasted like that. Lol
  24. The conscious was that of the other party, not the believer. It was perfectly allowable for the saints to buy sacrificed meat knowing full well it was sacrificed. 1Co 8:5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), 1Co 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1Co 8:7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. He is referring to hurting the conscious of someone who may really believe there are other gods. Then it would become a sin for a saint to participate in eating those meats as he or she would be hurting the conscious of the one watching. vs 29 that you posted also says it. We are free to purchase from any religious group, but we must be aware of how we are perceived by a weak brother or sister, or a worldly man or woman. That is the only restriction.
