  3. That is not true at all. Yes it is true. God broke his covenant with the Jews and made one with the Romans. Does this Pope list look like Jews? http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm Pope Linus (died c. 76) was, according to several early sources, the second Bishop of Rome and is listed by the Catholic Church as the second pope. His papacy lasted from c. 67 to his death c. 79. According to other early sources, Pope Clement I was the second pope; per the Annuario Pontificio Clement was the fourth pope. Among those considered by the Catholic Church to have held the position of pope, only Clement, Linus and Peter are specifically mentioned in the New Testament.[1] The earliest Christian Cemeteries? http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03510a.htm First Century Saints Outside the Disciples/Apostles? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronological_list_of_saints_in_the_1st_century I could go on and on...
  4. The Jews fell out of favor with God and God shifted his gears toward what becomes the Roman Catholic Church. Flavius Josephus documents this. Just as the old covenant with Moses was a 40 year period, the period of Jesus ministry to the destruction of the temple was 40 years to establish the new covenant.
  5. At this point, I'm not sure what you are posturing for. My previous post is thorough, concise, and well laid out as to my point. The burden of truth is no longer on me to have to prove what I have clearly already laid out. The burden of proof is now on you to have to somehow manipulate the verse to not mean what it means.
  6. If you search back on my post, I didn't use a version that says, fornication: Matthew 19:9 Aramaic Bible in Plain English But I say to you, “Whoever divorces his wife apart from adultery and will take another, commits adultery, and whoever will take her who is divorced commits adultery.” Now that you brought this up, the only Bible in English that even comes close to mentioning that, it is if the wife commits prostitution, its Young's Literal Translation with the word whoredom. As you can see from below, this is what I was drawing from. You ask me what fornication means to me, just inappropriate sexual behavior. Later in the verse, it mentions adultery, so as you can see, with some Bibles literally saying adultery, others saying sexual immorality and the like, the translations seem to be meant to confuse the readers. Matthew 19:9 Parallel Verses New International Version I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." New Living Translation And I tell you this, whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery--unless his wife has been unfaithful." English Standard Version And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” New American Standard Bible "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." King James Bible And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. Holman Christian Standard Bible And I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery." International Standard Version I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." NET Bible Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another commits adultery." Aramaic Bible in Plain English But I say to you, “Whoever divorces his wife apart from adultery and will take another, commits adultery, and whoever will take her who is divorced commits adultery.” GOD'S WORD® Translation I can guarantee that whoever divorces his wife for any reason other than her unfaithfulness is committing adultery if he marries another woman." Jubilee Bible 2000 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication and shall marry another, commits adultery, and whosoever marries her that is put away commits adultery. King James 2000 Bible And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her who is put away does commit adultery. American King James Version And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her which is put away does commit adultery. American Standard Version And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery. Douay-Rheims Bible And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery. Darby Bible Translation But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, not for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries one put away commits adultery. English Revised Version And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery. Webster's Bible Translation And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except for lewdness, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoever marrieth her who is put away, committeth adultery. Weymouth New Testament And I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery." World English Bible I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery." Young's Literal Translation 'And I say to you, that, whoever may put away his wife, if not for whoredom, and may marry another, doth commit adultery; and he who did marry her that hath been put away, doth commit adultery.' INTERLINEAR VIEW OF MATTHEW 19:9 I can see what you are saying with the presumed word though. The word in question is PORNEIA, which literally means prostitution. From this discovery, adultery IS NOT a reason for a divorce. If your wife commits prostitution, then you can get a divorce and remarry. The woman on the other hand cannot remarry as any man that takes her as a wife is committing adultery with her.
  7. Well, the bible never contradicts itself. So Matthew 19:19 means what it means, so no other verse can contradict it.
  8. I'm not sure how accurately reading and comprehending bible verses and not do mental gymnastics to get around them puts me at some kind of fault.
  9. Well, you know the old saying, "The sins of the mother...".
  10. LOL!...now that's funny Well, maybe if you read the Bible, you would take it more seriously...unless that is, if you don't take the Bible as God's never changing inspired word as a guide to live our lives. Matthew 19:9 But I say to you, “Whoever divorces his wife apart from adultery and will take another, commits adultery, and whoever will take her who is divorced commits adultery.”
  11. Divorce and remarriage is ok from Jesus only for the man and only in Matthew in the case of adultery committed by the woman. It's very straightforward from the text.
  12. One important question you must ask yourself is, would you be happy in heaven?
  13. I'm all for equal treatment and not being mean to people. There are just some communal situations like seating in airplanes, trains, buses, vanpools, etc. where things like someone that is big is unfair as you could be crushing someone else who paid the same price for their seat. The same goes for smoking. Smoke if you want but in a confined space I don't want an ash tray smell attacking me for hours a day and creates a residue in my nose. Over eating and or under exercising is just a bad habit like smoking, drinking, or drugs. There is an underlying problem, and the side effect is resulting in these bad habits.
  14. 'Dragon Particle': Scientists claim proof of extraterrestrial life here on Earth http://www.examiner.com/article/dragon-particle-scientists-claim-proof-of-extraterrestrial-life-here-on-earth The search for extraterrestrial life seems to have achieved its goal in the discovery of a microscopic life-form called the "Dragon Particle." Scientists from the University of Sheffield and the University of Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology have announced -- along with the release of a photo of the entity -- that cosmic particulate matter exists in a pristine state, unsoiled (in a manner of speaking) by Earth matter, and is constantly raining down. It is further suggested that the minute life-forms may very well be evidence that life on Earth began somewhere out there -- in outer space. The Hindu reported Oct. 11 that the tiny alien particle, which was discovered when Wainwright's team sent a balloon into the stratosphere during last year's Perseid meteor shower, apparently is abundant in Earth's stratosphere. Professor Milton Wainwright said that the photo of the entity he discovered shows a structure they have taken to calling “the dragon particle,” due to its somewhat quasi-dragon-like features. Scientific analysis shows that the particle is made of carbon and oxygen, proving that it is not a piece of cosmic or volcanic dust. The dragon particle is about 10 micron in size, and Wainwright admitted to the Daily Express that it remains unclear whether it is a single organism or if it might be made up of smaller, individual microbes. He added that it was "like nothing found on Earth," pointing out that the particles appear on the sampling stubs in an absolutely pristine condition. There is no pollen, grass or pollution particles found with them. There is also no soil or volcanic dust, no contaminants whatsoever. Wainwright further explained the position that the biological entity was extraterrestrial: “Unless a means of lifting them from Earth exists which selectively sieves them out from other Earth-derived debris then they must be incoming from space. This, plus the fact that some of the biological material samples by the team produce impact craters when they hit the sampler, confirms their space origin.” Writing in the Journal of Cosmology, Prof. Wainwright noted that particles likely arrived via comet. They appear to have been part of an "aquatic" environment. But as hopeful as Prof. Wainwright's discovery might lean, even the professor himself is only 95 percent certain that the dragon particle is actually a living organism. And the skeptical are quick to point out that it very well might not be anything alive. "There is probably truth to the report that they find curious stuff in the atmosphere," Chris McKay, an astrobiologist at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., told SPACE.com via email. "The jump to the conclusion that it is alien life is a big jump and would require quite extraordinary proof." (McKay was referring to the Carl Sagan rule that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.) But if Wainwright and his team are correct, it would be proof of extraterrestrial life. Taking the position that all life on Earth might have originated by just such particulates, the find could go a long way in supporting the theory of Panspermia, which posits that living organisms of Earth -- and perhaps throughout the universe -- were "seeded" from amino acids and biological molecules from space. Wainwright's colleague, astrobiologist Chandra Wickramasinghe from the University of Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology, was the co-developer, along with astronomer Fred Hoyle, of the Panspermia theory.
  15. Politics, sports, celebrities, etc. These are all just entertainment for us. Nothing is different or more important than anything else. Just let go of all of this stuff and focus on bettering your own life.
  16. No one usually focuses on the hundreds of false predictions of Nostradumus. Also, even the "correct" ones require extra interpretations and word changes to make it true. I could make hundreds of predictions right now and I guarantee that a few will end up right, and others with be some extra interpretational help.
  17. Nothing beats being a good example. Also, in heaven, no one is married.
  18. Some people never read a bible or go to church but they talk and pray to God/Jesus daily and live good lives. I'd call them more on the side of spirituality. Then you have people that read the bible daily, go to church, but focus more on the dogmatic aspects making it very political and in constant judgment of others. I'd call them more religious. In the end, both can equate to a lifestyle, with Christianity more as a religion is more of a activist/political hall monitor approach and the spirituality side is more of the personal relationship and internal path of focus, wellbeing and centered. Of course, many people have a blend of both of these aspects.
  19. Christian definitions on what is adultery for men and women, whether married or divorced: Matthew 5:31-32 "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery. Mark 10:2-12 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?" "What did Moses command you?" he replied. They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away." "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied. "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery." Luke 16:18 "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. 1 Corinthians 7:39 A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord. Ephesians 5:33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Matthew 19:6-7 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." "Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?" Romans 7:2-3 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man. Deuteronomy 22:19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the girl's father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives. And a husband must not divorce his wife. To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. Matthew 19:8-9 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Romans 7:3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.

  21. If life starts at conception, then any woman on birth control pills can have hundreds or thousands of abortions in her lifetime without having an official procedure at the doctors office. How about a woman that excessively drinks or exercises and unknowingly pregnant ends up having a miscarriage? Is that equivalent to a Murder 2 charge? Does an aborted baby guaranteed go to heaven? It's really a blessing then since if they live they have the chance of going to hell.
  22. Morning Star, Day Star, Light Bringer, Bringer of the Dawn, Venus.
  23. The Septuagint/LXX's books are not identical to the Catholic Bible's OT/Deuterocanonical(apocryphal) sections. It is important to know that Christians from the beginning up to the time of Jerome used the LXX bible. The NT's quotes of the OT and the apocryphal references come from the LXX. The NT was also written in Greek like the LXX. Jerome's Latin Vulgate was initially rejected. It only slowly gained acceptance because it became the government enforced/endorsed version to use, similar to how the KJV attained it's primacy.
