  1. interesting interpretation but then you would also have to deal with the problem of why the faithful were unable to share the Holy Spirit and how to receive the free gift which is a deposit to those sealed for salvation, If someone came to you asking how they could be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, would you send them away?... who sells the Holy Spirit for a price? There is a difference between releasing the Spirit and receiving/being filled with the Spirit. It is not up to me who will receive the Holy spirit. Only God knows those who will be saved and delivered. The scripture that comes to mind: Acts 16:14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.
  2. During a study of the book of Jude the scripture contending for the faith took center stage. Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. What are your thoughts or interpretation of this scripture “contend earnestly for the faith”?
  3. The life giving water is needed for spiritual life and growth. To produce spiritual fruit you need spiritual water. Spiritual maturity results in fruit. The process of maturing spiritually facilitates the conversion into the image of Christ. Once you begin to move toward the mind of Christ, I mean the image of Christ, the way you see the world will begin to change, along with the way you interpret the scriptures. You become a slave to your spirit man (New Man) and not your flesh man (Old man) 1 Corinthians 2:16 New King James Version (NKJV) For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. Accepting Christ =>receiving Holy spirit => Life giving water =>born of water and spirit => Eternal life=> Spiritual fruit=>Conversion into the image of Christ=> mind of Christ=> See things as Christ sees Last part, John 15:2 New King James Version (NKJV) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. To endure the pruning you will need a lot of life giving water.
  4. Littlelambseativy Question: If being baptize represents the washing away of sin (symbolically), what is your thought as to why Jesus was baptized? He was born without sin and committed no sin.
  5. I suggest that the meaning is representative of a birth. A symbolic birth. The birth if the Church sometimes called the bride of Christ. It was birthed at the moment Jesus died. Hence the flow of blood and water from his side. The other time in scripture where God created a bride was with Adam. Genesis 2:22 And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken from the man He built up and made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. With that said, if you have been given the understanding/knowledge of who Christ is and accept it then you have been born again, I mean born from above, I mean born of water and the spirit, and have become a member of the body of Christ, I mean the church, I mean the bride. Maybe it's a stretch, but that's what I have received so far.
  6. Full immersion was the common practice among the Jews. The record left by these various witnesses overwhelmingly testifies to immersion as the normal mode of baptism in the Christian church during the first ten to fourteen centuries. 1 This is in addition to the evidence found throughout the writings of the church fathers that immersion was the early church's common mode of baptism. Here we find baptism by immersion already in existence. Gentiles who espoused Judaism were required to enter its fold by circumcision, baptism, and the offering of a sacrifice. This article cannot discuss the beginnings of proselyte baptism in Judaism, but the fact that the apostle Paul reflects rabbinic argumentation for proselyte baptism in one of his early epistles (1 Cor. 10:2: "And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea") would seem to indicate that this practice was in existence at the time of the birth of the Christian church. A Gentile convert to Judaism was required to undergo immersion. While he stood in the water, two scholars nearby read some of the lighter and some of the heavier requirements of the Law. Then at the proper time he immersed him self. 2
  7. Interesting The first thing that sticks out at me is the first statement: " Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” Whatever GOD says, it's coming to past. Secondly, If we accept the reasoning that Jonah wanted GOD to wipe out Nineveh because God would use them as a rod against Israel, then Jonah would fit the image of Christ. He was willing to give/gave his life in order to save his people, Israel.
  8. Yes, "A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven" John 3:27 (KJV).
  9. The parable of 10 Virgins..... 5 with oil and 5 without oil In scripture, in many instances, Oil is symbolic of the holy spirit. If we sorta agree that Oil in scripture is symbolic of the holy spirit we can apply it here. 5 with the Holy Spirit and 5 without. A natural man can not tell visually which ones are truly virgins and which ones are not, but the bride groom can tell which ones heart has been circumcised, and which ones have not. All 10 have lamps giving the appearance that they all had light, but really only 5 had the light. How can one be born of water and the spirit and not posses the Oil....or How can one being a witness not posses the Oil.

    Psalm 99

ayin Jade Can you share what motivated you to study this particular Psalm ?
  12. I may have over looked that scripture, can you provide the scripture where water baptism and being born of water are the same. Thanks!
  13. Makes theological sense Those references are Jack Kelly's interpretation of what he believes. It almost makes sense until we consider the angels. Before the creation of man, God said this: "Let Us make man in Our image". Who is "Us"? If being born of water is a reference to natural childbirth, that would mean the angels in heaven were once human and that humans existed before the creation of man on this planet. John 1:51 New King James Version (NKJV) 51 And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafteryou shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” If you conclude that the scripture is not referring to something natural "Water" then you may be able to see what is meant by the scripture: John 7:38 King James Version (KJV) 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. I'm don't think he is referring to natural "Water" here as well, but the context in which the word "Water" is used is the same in all the scriptures: John 7:38 ; I John 5:8, and John 3:5. Note that all the scriptures are written by John.
  14. Interesting I think it relates to the following scriptures: 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one. John 19:34 New King James Version (NKJV) 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. and Mark 1:23 King James Version (KJV) 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. IMO....I think the reason why Jesus rebuked the man ties into being born of the water and the spirit. I don't think Jesus rebuke the man with the unclean spirit because the spirit was giving a false witness/lie, but because the spirit was not born of the water and the spirit and scripture states that there are only three witnesses on earth the Spirit, the water, and the blood.
  15. God has revealed to me that he is intimately aware of what goes on in my life. There is no situation that he is not aware of. Scriptures: Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,So are My ways higher than your ways,And My thoughts than your thoughts. Luke 11:11 (NKJV) 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? John 14:14(NKJV) 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
  16. It appears that Romans 6 referrers to the death of the sin nature (old spirit man vs new spirit man), not a physical death. Moreover, each man will not experience death of the sin nature since this death is germane to being a disciple and a by product of receiving and accepting the revelation of Jesus Christ. I don't think God expects everyone to accept his son Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Romans 6:10-12 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. How do you reconcile the physical death to be experienced by every man (Rapture not being taken into account) referenced below? Hebrews 9:27-28 7 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. That is the basis for my suggestion that, Elijah and Enoch will be the witnesses since they are the only two that I'm aware of that have yet to experience a physical death. They were taken by God.
  17. Scripture comes to mind: John 3 4. Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
  18. Have you not already died once? Romans ch 6 v 3: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? v 4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:(hence, your 1st death) that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life; (the old man has passed away). v. 5: For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (What is flesh is flesh. What is spirit is spirit. Did you recieve the Holy Ghost? who the Father sent to you shortly after your confession? Hence, being resurrected in his spirit that died for all creation? v. 6: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin, v. 7: For he that is dead is freed from sin. As we live, and move, and breath; we do so unto God. No, I have not died physically yet. Maybe I have my theology a bit mixed up. I think I need to elaborate: What is the "First" Death? From the moment a baby is born, he begins to die. Cells are dying throughout a human being's lifetime, a process that ultimately leads to the death of the individual. Since this "Death" is inherent in every individual when he is born, this death is the "First" death. The "First" death then, is the physical death that each person dies on this earth - a physical, but a temporal death from which everyone will be resurrected. Those who are righteous will be resurrected to everlasting life and those who are wicked will be resurrected for the judgment and the "Second Death", believed by most disciples to be a physical death also, but this time the death is presumed to be permanent. So, both "Deaths", the First and the Second, are physical deaths - according to present day theology, the "First" is temporary and the "Second" is permanent.
  19. Fallen angels and churches? Scripture states that the church is the body and Christ is the head of the body. I've always understood the 7 fallen angels (Pastors) represented 7 common spiritual deficits a church leader needs to be aware of when shepherding the flock. The letters are to those who may have stumbled in their leadership and the corrective action needed to stand. IMO....
  20. Interesting I've always thought the two witnesses would be Enoch and Elijah since they are the two men that have yet to die, and scripture states each man is appointed to die once. Just as Moses was visually changed by being in the presences of God and his glory, I think everyone seeing the two witnesses will notice the difference, but may not know or deny why. As far as the rapture, the Lord can come whenever his father likes, the sooner the better, either way I'll be with him.
  21. For me the most important part of church services is the exegesis of the scriptures. I enjoy fellowship, and praising the lord with the saints, but my relationship with the lord is personal and that comes first.
  22. IMO a disciple needs a discerning spirit which comes out of maturity. With a discerning spirit, you will know when to speak and to whom you should speak to. If you take it upon yourself to work out of your flesh then you will be prone to casting your peals among the swine.
  23. A place where Jesus is at the center and lifted up. The pastor teaches the full gospel
  24. I trust my faith is strong enough to accomplish whatever the father wills me to do.
  25. Unfortunately most individuals look for someone else to solve the problem, in this instance government. All that is required is not to buy any items from China. Buy American made items, your cost will increase since the cost of production is greater. It's a small sacrifice that each selfless American can make.
