For the law of the Spirit of Life, in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2 Because of Adam and Eve's disobedience we have all been born into the bondage of sin, but because of Jesus and His Sinless Sacrifice of Himself as the True Lamb of God, the sin of the world has been token away from those of us who believe on His name; John 1:29; Acts 4:12. We see Jesus telling the Jewish people that He would make them Free: 32) And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free. 36) If the Son therefore shall make you free ye shall be free indeed. Paul liken this freedom to liberty for the Christian in Galatians 5:1 and goes on to warn the Believers of falling into the bondage of the Law in the rest of the Chapter. But he also encourages the Christian to serve each other in love; 6) For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 13) For, brethren, ye have been called to liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one by another. Galatians 5:6; 13-15 One even see James speaking of this connection between our freedom in the law of liberty and connecting it with love the work of faith; James 1:22-2:26. Peter even tells us how we are to use this freedom see I Peter 2:11-17. Our freedom is no more us trying to please God by our own works, but being pleasing to God by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, in this way the Spirit will work out our salvation, Philippians 2:12.

Do we have an appointed time of death?
FreeinChrist replied to missmuffet's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Kwikphilly, Williamina, Butero, and 2Joyful and really love the verses they used. We also must remember that Hezekiah was appointed to die but by pray had his life lengthened 15 years, II Kings 20:1-11; Isaiah 38. But the heart of Hezekiah was not as upright after this time as before: 24) In those days Hezekiah was sick and near to death, and he prayed to the LORD: and He spoke to him, and He gave him a sign. 25) But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem. II Chronicles 32:24-25 Who knows maybe if the last sight that Manasseh saw of his father was a man devoted to God, his reign would have been great instead of one of the worse if not worse in Judah. For 15 years Manasseh saw his father departing from God, what a bad example to leave your child. -
It sadden me to hear of your ongoing trial, but be most assured Dawn that the Father has not forgotten you. But am happy to hear that you love what you do, that is a novel idea to me, as I truly do not like my job. 14) And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: 15) And if we know that He heareth us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired from Him. I John 5:14-15 For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 I really hate that saying time heals all wounds, IMO, it is a big lie; but one Truth is that our God can and will heal all wounds.

Instead of quoting everyone, I will just say excellent answer from everyone, to your question Tigger. But the story of one who had this power is told in Acts 16:16-22. Who Paul by the power of Jesus Christ release from the spirit, but her master was sadden to see the profit disappear from her foretelling, so he help to have Paul and Silas beaten and imprison.

I wholeheartedly agree Spock, this should be very interesting Thanks for asking this question Bopeep, as I really enjoyed reading Atwood responses. Excellent Response Atwood, you have given me some fresh food to chew on.

Hello Prozac, and welcome to Worthy. Rosicrucians are most definitely not Christian. They fall under gnostic, mason, and yes even islamic beliefs. Instead of teaching that Jesus is the Way, they teach as did gnostic that men need a secretive knowledge to get to God. Jesus saith unto him, I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me. John 14:6 10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11) This is the Stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the Head of the Corner. 12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:10-12 The only knowledge that one need to go heaven, is to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour, Romans 10:9-10 This is not secret knowledge but the message of the Gospel. In today world you need to purchase a ticket to get just about anywhere, so with God if you want to get to heaven you have to accept Jesus Blood which He shed on the Cross as your free ticket to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Your definition of Passion sounds a lot like what occurred before Paul was sent on his first Missionary Journey. As the ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate Me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2 Or you could say IMO if someone has such passion it would be ministering unto the Lord. Just as the early Church did.

So I know most dreams don't really amount to a hill of beans (at least most of mine). But that being said how do you tell if a dream, is from God? I should say I have had several things that I have been praying about, and one of the chief if not the chief that I have been praying about, I had a very comforting dream about. Trying to tell if this is just delusion of grandeur, or hopefully God showing an answered to prayer.

Speaking of the Priesthood of Melchisedec of which type we as Christian Believers are part we read that he received Tithes, Hebrews 7:8. And the only True High Priest who lives forever is Christ. If Jesus Christ is the True Melchisedec, should not we support His minister just as Israel did the Aaronic priesthood. I Corinthians 9:9-13 9) For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? 10) Or saith He it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of His hope. 11) If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 12) If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the Gospel of Christ. Paul even writes of this passage from Deuteronomy 25:4 again: For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, the labourer is worthy of his reward. I Timothy 5:18 Remember that the labourer is worthy of his hire comes from the passage of Leviticus 19:5-13; which deals with the tithe. So not only do I see the Writer of Hebrews writing in support of the tithe, but also Paul. Plus I think Jesus supported the Tithe in Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42. If ever the Son of God had a chance to teach again tithing He could have stop the poor widow who gave of all that she had, while the others gave of their abundance, Mark 12:41-44. Yes I agree with you that God loveth a Cheerful giver, II Corinthians 9:7. But when we hold back the tenth from God, IMO we show our love of money over our love for God, and the love of money is the root of all evil, I Timothy 6:10. Just my thoughts. -
Hello baseball, This is a historical question. The formation of the canon was NOT an ad hoc process initiated by Constantine. Constantine had political reasons for settling theological issues (btw he embraced Christianity but did not "convert" to it. He was a very, very shrewd politician, using vague language which appealed to both Christians and pagans--it was not until just before his death that he took baptism, a delay which may or may not have been due to the belief that baptism cleansed sins and therefore the best time to receive it was before death). But canonization was merely the official recognition of what was tacitly accepted as authoritative. It required "official recognition" not because people were undecided, but because others were claiming a different list of authoritative texts (Marcion's canon). The 66 books were already recognized as authoritative by the time we get to Constantine. So the short answer is, no. The books we have are NOT the result of bribes or hasty decisions. That is to the best of my knowledge, any modifications or corrections are welcome Great respond Conner, I totally agree with your assessment. When the Canon of the New Testament was decided upon the church had three basic requirements: 1) Apostolic Origin; that is the Book was somehow connected to an Apostle of Jesus Christ, not necessarily authored by, for we see that Mark was not an Apostle but was closely connected to Peter along with Paul. In all likelihood was telling the Gospel from Peter's point of view. 2) Recognition by the Churches; in other words did Christian Churches use thee books in their services. 3) Content of the Book; if the Content was glorifying to God and edifying to the Church it was the final of the Three test as to whether it would be canonize. The grass withereth the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8 Many people look at this verse and think it is referring to the Old Testament or Tanakh, but if you read the passage in it entirely Isaiah 40:1-11, you will see that it is referring the New Testament. Peter even quote this passage and tells us it is referring to the Gospel. 24) For all flesh is as grass, and the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof faileth away. 25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the Gospel is preached unto you. I Peter 1:24-25 This is also the promise message of the Lord who is the Messenger of the New Covenant, Malachi 3:1.

Not really sure what to think. I just see the Church being commanded to tithe in Hebrews 7:8. I have somewhat of a clear understanding of where you are coming from; just not sure if I agree or not. But from the term as God hath prospered him, I see a reference to the tithe. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. I Corinthians 16:2 -
What to say to a friend who tells you she is suicidal?
FreeinChrist replied to FreeinChrist's topic in General Discussion
Thank you, Other One, you have truly help more than ever; for us humans I don't think there is anything more powerful than prayer. ...The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16b And the Nazarene Church is definitely a great place to serve the Lord. -
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 Dear sister in the Lord, I really know how you feel. Was telling a fellow female worker a few month ago, my age and she didn't believe me, that I was that old, and than she started hitting on me, but I was not attracted to her. That plus a gal half my age who is also attracted to me, but has no relations with God, and twice told me she cheated on her boyfriend, so that is a definite no go. So it seems I can find a gal who is interested in me, but that i am not interested in; but I can't find a gal who i am interested in, who is also interested in me. When our hearts have a strong desire, (especially for that special someone) it really does make the heart sick. For us singles we just never know if it God's will that we meet anyone, will be praying for you Dawn that God will bring a man of God in life, while encouraging your heart.

What to do with old Bibles falling apart?
FreeinChrist replied to FreeinChrist's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
No I don't have a genuine original (sorry about the statement should have been clearer) , they both are reprints. From the 1599 Geneva Bible And Iefus wept. Iohn 11:35 16) Reioyce euemore. 17) Pray continually. I Theffalonians 5:16-17 I used the smallest three verses, and although I Thessalonians 5:17 is not hard to read verse 16 and John 11:35 are not quit as easy. The ancient Hebrews used to bury old scrolls of scripture, but I don't know if it was intended to be more like a funeral service. I was thinking the same thing but in a different way...... why not a time capsule, include a note with why you have buried it and the date. 1x1x1, that is a very interesting thought. -
So Monday at about 315am, I was heading out to eat, and the gal, at a fast food place, asked me what to say to someone you know is suicidal. I took one look at her face, and asked her if it was her? And she say it was. She is a new mother of about 9 months, and while talking about her son, called him satan. Now I know she didn't mean it she just in that much pain. Her and her boyfriend are under common law marriage, but he does not want to do his part in the relationship leaves her alone all the time with the baby, and really rarely let her get out to socialize with others. So I told her how she was priceless in God's eyes and Christ died for her, and how her child and other family members needed her. But not really sure I help much. Any advice of how to answer her would surely be appreciated. Please pray for this young lady also.

Re: Luke 6:38... What do you think this passage is talking about brother? Luke 6:37-42 Judging Others 37 “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” 39 He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 41 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. God bless, GE I see this as referring to the Believer not judging others but remembering that we all are sinners in need of mercy. The more mercy we show to others the more God will give us, James 2:11-13. Speaking of Melchizedek, the priesthood we are called into it states: 4) Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the Patriarch Abraham gave the tithe of the spoils. 5) For verily they which receive the office of the Priesthood, have a commandment to take according to the Law, tithes of the people (that is, of their brethren), thought they came out of the lions of Abraham. 6) But he whose kindred is not counted among them, received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7) And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the greater. 8) And here men that die, receive tithe: but there He receiveth them of whom it is witnessed, that He liveth. 9) And to say as the thing is, Levi, also which receiveth tithes, payeth tithes in Abraham. I just really am not sure if we should do away with the tithe after reading this portion of Hebrews 7. For the Book of Hebrews compares the Aaronic Priesthood of the Jews, to the New Covenant Priesthood of Jesus Christ likening it to the Priesthood of Melchizedek. And we see that even Aaron though the lions of Abraham gave unto Melchizedek. And when I see verse 6 and 7 especially the fact that the only Priest that it is witness to that He liveth is Jesus Christ our High Priest and Saviour, God delight in doing His minister of the Gospel good, and states they are worthy of their wages, I Timothy 5:18. So at less the Christians I believe should give a tenth, but some believe in giving even more. Don't forget Jesus comment to the religious leaders in Matthew 23:23. -
I just love the way that Paul describe the New Covenant in Galatians 3:16-4:7. For in the New Covenant we see God keeping His Promise of the Seed that is Christ to Abraham. We also see that we have been adopted into the Family of God, by our faith in Jesus Christ.

Hello Ljpob, and welcome to Worthy. IMO we also need to know Jesus just not as the Anointed of God, but also as the Very God. But we know that that Son of God is come, and hath given us a mind to know Him, which is True, and we are in Him that is True, that is, in that His Son Jesus Christ, the same is the Very God and that Eternal Life. I John 5:20 Geneva Bible We also need to remember that Jesus tells us His Word is Truth. Sanctify them with thy Truth thy word is Truth. John 17:17

Thank you all for your great counsel. God has answered prayer for me, but I have been noticing that some of the bigger(est) manners about 4 to 5, seem to have gone to deaf ears. And on some of them it may be my own lust. But on others to the best of my knowledge Scripture lines up with my petition yet nothing. This has gotten under my skin so much that yesterday while at church singing, I was remembering an old saying that a Baptist Pastor one said. Most Christian don't tell lies, they sing them. While I sang or if you preferred made a joyful noise, I was wondering if I was doing just this. If the song was just glorifying Christ Jesus or the Father or even the Holy Spirit, yes I was singing truthfully. But some of the other songs, not so sure I was singing the truth. There is no question in my mind that God is able, just not sure about my faith.

I Am Having A Challanging Time At Work
FreeinChrist replied to Dawn1974's topic in General Discussion
I remember when I used to work with children in church all the time, it was one of the greatest blessing that God has ever allowed me. I made a mistake and because many of them asked a question, which to this day causes great heartache to me, I quit. Dawn you are a virtuous woman of faith, these children need you, please no matter the pressure, just keep doing the work the Lord has for you. If you leave this work, believe me, you will regret it. I know to this day I still regret this mistake I made. Praying for you. 23) And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24) Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 As you do this remember God's promise to you for this: For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10 I know many child have no knowledge of our God, but they can show us how to believe as we should: 3) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in My Name receiveth Me. Matthew 18:3-5 -
I was noticing a couple of months ago, that Pastor George Wright of the Junction City (KS) Calvary Baptist Church had passed away in 2012. This man of God, helped me so much to grow in Jesus Christ, I remember this man teaching us that if you wanted to argue with him over Bible issues, you had better be able to give him the address, so he could see it for himself. And because of this I have had friends often call me a walking Bible. But more than anything this great Saint of God, after one of his church members had the boldness to tell me I was a sinner and needed Jesus Christ, and I thought I was just as good as anybody else. Stood his ground, as I belittled him; but his strong faith, and God guidance finally reveal to me that yes indeed I was a great sinner in need of Jesus Christ.

As has been stated by many here, Cain was married to one of his sisters. If you look at the Book of Jasher (not inspired but makes for good reading and is referred to in Joshua 10:13; and II Samuel 1:18), you will see that Cain took his own out with him eastward of Eden out of the presence of the Lord, and that he knew his wife, Jasher 1:33-36. Interesting fact according to the Book of Jasher, Lamech a descendant of Cain's, Genesis 4:16-24; is recorded to have killed Cain and his (Lamech's) own son both by accident, Jasher 2:26-37

And so it was, that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray; as John also taught his disciples. Luke 11:1 17) Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months. 18) And he prayed again: and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit, James 5:17-18 My prayer life is not dead, but in all honestly it does seem to be on life support, as I try to pray I can here the adversary say God doesn't care, and how he would answer my needs. I know that nothing is impossible for God, so I know God is able, but I can hear the devil whispering God doesn't care. I know our feelings can lie to us, but I just find it so difficult to tell my selfish delusion from God promises. My pray life just seems so meaningless. How can we prayer as Elijah did, with so much power?

What to do with old Bibles falling apart?
FreeinChrist replied to FreeinChrist's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
"Show me a bible that is falling apart and I will show you a person who isn't" Thanks Fez but right now my life definitely doesn't seem to all that together, but shortly I will open up a new thread with a question about that. Atwood, I have a original 1611 KJV, and an original 1599 Geneva Bible, and whenever I open either up and try to read it, I usually get a small headache. Thanks everyone for the answers, I will probably try to donate them somewhere. Although my Ryrie Bible is missing some pages around Isaiah 53, and my Open Bible is missing Psalms 17, 18, and parts of 16 and 19, along with John 12-14, and the first 2 or 3 chapters of I Corinthians. A LaHaye Prophecy Bible someone in my family gave for a Christmas gift, is just totally falling apart, and i am not comfortable with destroying it or throwing it away.
