This is my problem with Cruz. I actually think he is eligible as he was a US citizen at birth, regardless of place of birth (that's how I read natural born citizen anyway) but we have had 8 years of people questioning the eligibility of the current president, we don't need that again with the next one.

I can't vote because I am a legal permanent resident, and not yet a citizen, but Rubio would be my candidate of choice, a sensible fiscal conservative, but with strong social conservative credentials. His immigration stance might be difficult for some (though I immigrated legally I can see a lot of problems with the system and I agree that some reform of the system is needed) , and his work rate in the senate is worrisome, but I think he is the most well rounded choice.

Great result for Rudio in Iowa, I think the third for him is better than the Second is for Donald Trump.

Link Easter could fall on the same Sunday every year, the Archbishop of Canterbury has suggested. The Most Rev Justin Welby said that Anglican leaders would join discussions with other church leaders about the move to fix the date for the first time and put an end to almost 2,000 years of controversy. The plan, which would schedule the Christian festival on the same Sunday each year, is expected to be welcomed by parents and schools but may anger traditionalists. At present, Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox around March 21. This means it can fall on any Sunday between March 22 and April 25. Archbishop Welby said Anglican leaders had voted to join discussions with the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches to set an annual date. He said that Easter should most likely be fixed for the second or third Sunday of April. The Archbishop said: "We had warned the Government that this was coming up. I would expect [it to happen] between five and 10 years' time. "I wouldn't expect it earlier than that not least because most people have probably printed their calendars for the next five years. The Archbishop of Canterbury indicated that the change could happen in the next five to 10 years Photo: PA "School holidays and so on are all fixed - it affects almost everything you do in the spring and summer. I would love to see it before I retire." He prompted laughter as he added: "Equally, I think the first attempt to do this was in the 10th century." In fact, agreement on the issue would bring to an end one of the longest running controversies in the history of Christianity, dating back to the 2nd century. It could also have wide-ranging implications for schools and universities, the tourism industry, retailers and even sporting fixtures. The Archbishop made the surprise announcement at the end of a weeklong meeting of bishops and archbishops from around the world in Canterbury dominated by discussion over deep rifts within the 85 millionstrong Anglican Communion over homosexuality. He said that the primates of the Anglican Communion had agreed to join talks, initiated by the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Tawadros II, on fixing a date for Easter. Pope Francis signalled earlier this year that he would also be open to the idea. The Archbishop disclosed that Lambeth Palace had already notified the Government about the possibility of a change, in recognition of the wideranging implications for the economy, education and people's lives. Teaching unions welcomed the move as offering certainty for schools. Easter Continued on Page 2 Continued from Page 1 Sunday falls early this year on March 27. But it can be as early as March 22 - which last happened in 1818 - or as late as April 25, as in 1943. The date of Easter calculated through a complicated synthesis of mathematics, astronomy and theology considered baffling to most people. It is linked to the vernal - or spring - equinox and falls close to the Jewish Passover festival. The variation of Easter means that school summer terms change in length each year. It can also affect school and university examination dates because of the need to have a few weeks' preparation between the holiday and the exams. The change would have an impact on school holidays Photo: AP Russell Hobby, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, said: "Certainly schools would find a fixed date for Easter quite handy. The fact that it can vary isn't a problem in itself but it can be very early or very late some years and you can end up with a very long term, with teachers worn out at the end." The leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the UK, Bishop Angaelos, said it would be a powerful demonstration of Christian unity if it could be achieved. But he added: "This is very much a young conversation. We are still looking at the possibility but as for serious conversation with historical and theological perspectives that hasn't happened yet. It is a starting point." The Coptic Easter falls on May 1 this year and can vary from the main western date by up to five weeks. The announcement came at the end of a week of intense discussions between Anglican leaders on the issue of homosexuality amid deep divisions between liberal and conservative wings of the Global Anglican Communion. There was anger from gay and lesbian Christians when it emerged that Primates had voted to partially exclude the liberal American branch of Anglicanism, the Episcopal Church, from key bodies because of its acceptance of same-sex marriage. The Archbishop used a press conference at the end of the gathering to add a personal apology to the gay community for "the love that we at times completely failed to show". But he defended the action against the Episcopal Church, saying that by moving unilaterally to redefine marriage it placed tension on the bonds between churches.

This comment reminds me of a comment made by former the former Louisiana Governor (the one that went to prison) who said "The only way I can lose this election is if I am found in bed with a dead girl or a live boy". I personally don't have much time for trump, he lacks substance. He seems to be like the kid at school who just says and does things to get attention. I personally wish that trump's ego trip will end soon.

Switzerland are also a very proud nation, with a strong Christian history and high rate of individual liberty. I think they will tell them to get stuffed

Point of order! The Battle of Hastings was 1066, not 1069.

I have actually found Worthy to be more of the more lenient moderated Christian forums and Chat sites. There are others that are unmoderated that I wouldn't go near and others are over moderated, but Worthy has consistently been balanced. It allows debate to continue, if it's respectful, but when insults start flying the thread is locked, I believe that is the right course of action. That is not to say I haven't had problems with Mods before, but that was more my doing than anything else.

I think it all comes down to being "salt and light" I am convinced that Christians have a very real part to play in politics. I think Christians have an interest in the good governance of they nation in which they live.

I think we all want the truth, we wouldn't be here if we didn't but I feel this is a kind of leading question, and thus have decided not to vote.

Hey,you did a great job. Thanks, Actually I'm not happy with the interview, as it appears in the report, a lot of it was cut, and I felt they left out the best parts where I discuss a solution I have came up with, for churches to get together to use use their buses, my wife also set up a Facebook page on the issue, but that part was cut too.

Perhaps I'm not so socially awkward after all, this is me giving an interview for local news today link

ISIS lacks capability for attack on U.S.
ricky replied to missmuffet's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
The Boston bombing was caused by "lone wolfs", ISIS may not be able to do it, but a lone wolf or small group inspired by ISIS could do a lot of damage. -
By the way as I said before I am great at public speaking, and even enjoy it, and think Toastmasters would be great for me, but the membership fees are very expensive. I do have a problem one on one, but I warm up after a while, I do have problems in new situations, but once I figure things out I'm great. I think my biggest problems are fear of rejection and fear of confrontation. Everyone has different problems, and those have similar problems may not be caused by the same thing necessary. I think my fear of confrontation steams from the fact that my parents had a very turbulent marriage, as my Dad has a very bad temper at times. I was also bullied at school and I think I found it easier to isolate myself at that time than be rejected by people. I know I am accepted by my church and Christian friends, in fact church is the first place, outside family, that I ever really felt accepted.
-
I'm not on the spectrum, I talked to my Dr back home about that. He dismissed the idea out of hand.

Toastmasters is good for some but a nightmare for others. Please someone tell me what Toastmasters is? They are a public speaking group I think.

Interestingly we were given this book by a normally very sound Baptist pastor who would hold fairly similar views to Shiloh most of the time, I don't know if I still have it, as we never used it. I think I'm stick with Spurgeon's Morning by Morning is my daily devotional.

Speaking in tongues is that ,real or alive today ?
ricky replied to SINNERSAVED's topic in General Discussion
I think the problem is people can't agree with what "tongues" are, I don't believe any of the spiritual gifts have passed away, however what is the purpose of spiritual gifts? I believe they are there to glorify Christ first of all and to help the church function. A lot of the time we see tongues lifted up above other gifts, some even pinning salvation on speaking in tongues, I believe the Bible speaks against this in verses 29 and 30 of 1st Corinthians 12 when it Paul asks rhetorically . "Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?". Paul then encourages the readers to say "Now desire the greater gifts" he then writes about the greatest gift being love in the famous Chapter 13. However it seems to me that some have elevated the gift of tongues to be the greatest gift, rather than the least has Paul says in 1st Corinthians 14. As I have said before I do not believe the gifts have passed away but I think they are sometimes misapplied, I was at a conference one time where there was two alter calls, one fore salvation, and the other to receive the gift of tongues. During this alter call he told those who came forward to "just start speaking in a language you don't understand don't speak English, or a language you know just speak" this seemed to me as a fake it til you make it approach and it didn't sit well with me at all. I think this could also be very damaging as those who went up wanted it so badly that they could become so emotionally involved in it that they could genuinely believe that they are speaking in tongues, but are in fact just speaking nonsensical words to the air. -
I work in fast food(not McDonald's) while the company does not define the work ethic, certain companies pay only minimum wage and treat their employees like skibulon, my company pays me over minimum wage and most of my co workers provide good service ( the company I work for now are very good on customer service). I did work for another company for over a year, I worked well and provided good service to the customers, and even had people come up to me after I left and said they wouldn't eat at the location as I was the only one who gave good service. I attitude of the managers towards that store was one of the many reasons I left, as the store manager was very self focused rather than customer focused, while it is the opposite at my current company. Therefore I would say a lot of people fast food customer service is dependent on the workers at the store, but most of all the managers in store and at district level, as the managers create a culture of great service, and others do not, this may also be dependent of the franchisee who hires the managers and sets the objectives of the location for those managers to follow.

Thank you this is great, I do not believe we are really worshipping Jesus on Christmas , because I believe it to be a worldly holiday that is for santa , snow men ,raindeers, and etc, and it is a cover up to indulge in material things and presents, we have taken Christmas to a complete 180 then what we thought it was to represent, and even that is a lie.we do everything but acknowledge Jesus, and why would it be on the 25th, I do not believe this is the day Jesus was born,in the winter. that is my thought, thank you I think you are making a lot of generalization in this comment, As Patriot said you choose who you worship, yes for some people over that period it may be Santa Clause or decorations or what ever, but for many Christmas is a Christ centered period. While it's true that we should celibate Christ every day I think it is helpful (for me anyway) to lay aside certain period to focus on Christ's birth. Weather or not He was actually born in December or not is irrelevant to me, I am from the UK originally, Her majesty the Queen has two birthdays, an official birthday and her actual birthday, I don't know the actual day of Christ's birth, but I see December 25 is his "official" birthday in a sense.

Preachers and wearing a hat or ball caps during preaching..
ricky replied to angels4u's topic in General Discussion
I haven't read the whole thread, but I do believe that it is the culture for a man to remove his hat in various contexts, such as said before saying the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the National Anthem and praying/attending church. I am not legalistic on the matter, but rather pragmatic, I think a preacher wearing a hat in church while preaching could be seen as inappropriate and a distraction, and even people questioning the authenticity man's ministry. -
That's weird, horrible, and hilarious all at the same time.
