  1. A self-professed Libertarian politician from the Czech Republic says he has created a new, sovereign country on the Croatian-Serbia border where citizens decide their own tax burden, property and individual rights are respected and the national motto is "Live and Let Live." So far, I like Liberland. Sounds a lot like a country I used to know...
  2. Gordon Mote is a Christian pianist/singer/songwriter who has only recently come to my attention. He is one of the most sought after studio keyboardists in country and gospel music. He is a natural virtuoso. His singing is deeply compelling and soul stirring. IMO, I think he is something of a genius.
  3. I believe I would have liked Larry.
  4. Because the blameless Son of God died a tortuous death atoning for sin. I love Him for that. And there's no one more miserable than an unrepentant Christian, and I speak from personal experience. There is peace in obedience.
  5. I love The Apostle, although I don't agree that he was a false teacher. I think he was an extremely flawed man with a heart for evangelism. Even on the road gang at the end he was preaching. It's one of my favorites, and give Duvall an attaboy for writing and directing a film that Hollywood wouldn't touch. The small church settings and comings to Christ are extremely authentic and familiar to my experience. And I don't think the gospel is watered down, despite this being a drama about a failed or flawed preacher. I agree that it's not a a wholesome Christian movie, and that it's fascinating!
  6. I've seen it. It is a sickening and, frankly, frightening satirical outpouring of hate. That anyone is so devoted to doing dirt on Christianity is really twisted.
  7. And we traded five enemies for this traitor... If it's bad for America, the president gives it his stamp of approval.
  8. Yes, yes, yes! These seem almost 'hymn-like' in their melodic and theological content. Absolutely sublime.
  9. And yet 'idolatry' is used to condemn and accuse those holding to the inerrancy of scripture. How quaintly "first-century". And inconsistent. And *diabolical*.
  10. Looks like they blinked. But... ...with this crowd, it's *never* over.
  11. From the article: Planet Fitness Director of Public Relations McCall Gosselin said the gym is "committed to creating a non-intimidating, welcoming environment for our members. Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use all gym facilities based on their sincere self-reported gender identity." Except, apparently, for women, who I would guess comprise half of the gym's membership. There are safety, privacy, and decency issues here, and this establishment is ignoring them. I frankly hope (as is reported in the piece) that the woman made enough noise to stir a ladies exodus out of that place, leaving it to the *tiny* minority of 'transexuals'. Company policy might change.
  12. Yep, it's a beauty. My wife and I saw those guys last Sunday. About half of their show is now gospel, original and traditional. Their 3 and 4 part harmonies are (pardon the expression) heavenly.
  13. I think this is a terrible idea! I sure do also. I *cannot*, for the life of me, see what point she trying to make, or how what she is doing is edifying to Christianity. Discernment seems to be in short supply these days.
  14. Weell -- I like Jackson there. But... My picks would be Fanny Crosby or Ayn Rand, and I know that's gonna cause a heap of cognitive dissonance. Rand, frankly, for her defense of capitalism, but Fanny, in my heart, for the way that her lyrics have moved millions.
  15. A beautiful tune written and sung by Harry Stinson, Marty Stuart's drummer. The Master is Waiting.
  16. Agreed. I have worked quite a number of churches as a 'worship-musician-for-hire'. I have encountered *preposterously* inappropriate language and holiness issues. Prayer times become little more than giggle-fests for Jesus. 'Traditional' (conservative) churches and church traditions are sneered at. "Freedom in Christ" in these churches essentially means there there are no lines to tow. There is no sense of an obligation to holy living or propriety.
  17. God bless you, Drew. Please stick around. We're so happy you're here.
  18. I like to thank God for the food he provides for my family and me. Even if it is a brief 'grace'. I thank him at restaurant meals with my small family, and don't make a big deal about it. I'm encouraged by the fact that I've seen others do so, publicly, as well. Is this such a burden?
  19. At the risk of adding gloom to doom, there is a mosque, literally across one of the highways at the MOA location. A quarter of a mile, maybe. Too much info, I suppose, but unnerving.
  20. I have wondered for years why the MOA hasn't been targeted. The *terror* effect would simply be devastating. I live about two miles from there, and work there occasionally as a musician. Without getting detailed, security is *really* lax.
  21. Quite interesting. I remember Delores from "Where the Boys Are", and was astonished to see her, as a nun, guest hosting on Turner Classic Movies. As I recall, Loretta Young was quite a devout Catholic, famous for her "swear jar" that she'd use to fine her colleagues for swearing. *I believe* director George Stevens became a believer late in life. Elinor Donahue (Betty, from "Father Knows Best") is a Christian. But Hollywood in general.... ugh.
